Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Hi

I have been diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, social anxiety, and depression.

I saw a trauma psychologist for 10 months twice a week, but she stopped seeing me when my safety became an issue while processing the trauma.

My symptoms are so bad now I isolate myself in the car everyday to avoid triggers and flashbacks. Unable to go to strange places, talk to people. Just don't belong anywhere. Anxiety so bad I shake most of the time, chest pain and hard to breathe... This isn't living......

I'm too damaged to be helped, I have tried but no one will help me..... They just tell me its too complex and they are unable to help. I don't know what do do I have no support isolated, alone and scared....

Hi Kristin
yes acute care in normal hospital not mhu.
I do understand not enough sleep.
I wish I could find a psychologist that would stick wih my girls they say they will be there long term but hasn't worked out like that. I hate not being able to find the consistent care they require.
Your doing an awesome job Kristin baby steps are good be kind to yourself you and your children deserve every happiness.
I would love ti be sitting by the river it makes me feel at peace and safe.
oh the ward im in is with really old people they have some good stories to tell. Bit sad they are si sick.

Thanks guys for the support don't feel quite so alone.
take care

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Hi Karen,

I understand your struggle with finding consistent help for your girls. Have you heard of Theraplay? We access it through Nexus Primary Health (they do outreach at Healesville & Kinglake). I have found it very helpful in supporting and rebuilding my relationship with my little girl, and helping her with reducing anxiety. It took 5 years of asking for help for her before I found out about it last year. I can relate to that - consistency is SO important, even for adults, all the more so for kids.

Thanks my friend, you and your children deserve that too.

Sometimes I paddle my feet in the river, I don't know if I mentioned it but I have a saying to help me calm down "me in the river and the river in me" - which helps me remember the quiet and calm coolness of the river always flowing, and to find that place where it runs through me - helping to cool and calm me.

I'm glad you've got some good company from the sounds of it. It is sad when people get very unwell, however old they are.

I had an idea which I wanted to share with you. You mentioned how terribly difficult it is to talk and articulate how you feel and your struggles when talking with the CATT team and the MH team. I wondered whether you'd considered showing them what you've posted on this thread? It's a bit like a journal in a way. If you showed them the actual posts then they'd know your forum name, which would mean a loss of your anonymity with them at least, but you need not do that if you don't want to - another option would be to copy and paste what you've written into a word document (which you could also edit if you felt the need) and then show them that - so you would still keep your forum identity anonymous. Does this make sense?

Thinking of you. Praying that the peaceful sounds of the river speak to you as it whispers its way to the sea. Hope for healing endures...

Kindest regards,

Kristin

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

I hope you have some good rest tonight Karen, and the staff on their rounds don't disturb you.

I'm heading for the sack to try and make a bit of a dent in that sleep deficit!

Take care of you.

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Hi Kristin@, my face had blown up to amazing moon like dimensions .......the sore was just under my nose : I was taken straight into emergency and my first experience of morphine. Anyway it still took me 5 years to understand what taking care of myself meant. Your message is meant to be read by me. Though I always feel writing in a diary is really important .... X

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Dear hiddenite@ how are you ? I've been beginning to read your story ...... So impressed with rick@ and allessandra@ and Kristin@ messages You totally remind me of myself ........... But like me your not giving yourself a break. It feels like rick@ is so clever on his advice on the type of therapy. I've only read about 5 or 6 messages because I myself have had to teach myself to slow down but so far it feels like ............ It feels you should be having grief counselling. Do you know who for ? Your children, Lost years of your youth. Your parents telling you to pull yourself together. Your ex partner. A life for years you wanted to have.

I've had to go into this very strange space called grief counselling when my son recovered from a very bad illness. It has taken me over 4 years to get where I am now. I can work once per week, always need a nanna nap. It does feel that you are working so hard to correct yourself. Am so proud of you to come into sane forums. Cc

Fallen through the cracks in a system that doesn't work

Re: Despair *potential trigger: abuse*

Hi @hiddenite

We're here for moral support.

You're right, the system doesn't work - for there not to be enough beds is disgusting. However, it's the system, as you said. I really hope you're not taking it personally, or feel it's those in mhu pushing you away. I say that because I want you to keep reaching out.

It sounds like you got a lot of support and had some kind staff there - so this isn't the end. It's just part of the journey.

Nik

@hiddenite

Hi hiddenite, i am sorry to hear that you feel like you have been let down and fallen through the cracks, i haven't been in your situation personally, i have not gone to hospital probably when i should have..... one time when i was really not well i tried reaching out to the catt team but got no where, the feeling you get is one of bewilderment and fear, but it is best not to dwell to much on those thoughts, keep in mind that you reached out when you were in need and you did recieve help, i know it was difficult for you, but you did really well, and then you have also learned something else that with time and treatment will help you as a whole,

i'm not too sure if you have mentioned it before do you have a psychologist or psychiatrist you can talk to?

i tend to forget things so i am not too sure if you have mentioned about them before....

remember you are stronger now then you were before, we have all seen you show your strength, and determination to seek help when you needed, "virtual hugs" you are doing a fanatstic job and don't let your thoughts tell you otherwise 🙂
