Spud Buds!

Spud Buds!

Potato is life!!

Hiya Forums Pals!! By popular request (care of several superstar attendees in one of our mental health recovery groups, and a cracker of an ice breaker), this space is for all lovers of potatoes, and all their glorious forms!!

We ask now the whole forums community to join us in our admiration of this fine root vegetable. But, this may split the community asunder as we discuss....

What do you think is the superior form of the humble potato?

Is it the classic hash brown? The noble potato gem? Or the oft-overlooked mash? Maybe something obscure, like gnocchi?

Let us know gang!!

OMG @Former-Member this made me chuckle!!

Potato scallops is what I grew up with - except I also hate seafood so when I was a kid I thought they were potatoes and actual scallops! Then found out, no no, just potato.

Pure, glorious potato.

@creative_writer awww yes hehe we love him!! Lil ginger cutie!!

@Shaz51 and @Jynx he is cute but a naughty one. He used to harass the female cat (who no longer comes as she moved away). He also likes marking his territory with not so nice smelling ways

Re: Spud Buds!

@Former-Member I adore these starchy memes ❤️

I am a potato cake gal (as in the name. It is not my preferred potato form). I moved around Australia a fair bit as a kid, but clearly enough of those formative years were while I was in Victoria, because "potato cake" seeped into my brain.

@0ddsidian it feels weird to call it anything else! also love the name, a nice play on Obsidian, one of my favourite crystals!

Re: Spud Buds!

Why thank you @Former-Member! I think the username really suits me. When I was choosing my forums name I also toyed with choosing "OwlBeOkay". The only issue with choosing 0ddsian is that I use a zero instead of the letter "O", so sometimes people find it hard to tag me 🙃

Obsidian is definitely one of my favourites as well. I'm generally drawn to darker crystals. Photos below are of (1) obsidian, (2) black agate and (3) raw black tourmaline.

Re: Spud Buds!

@0ddsidian Yeah the darker crystals are for protection, although my preferred protection crystal is Pyrite and it not only protects but it bounces the negative energy back to its source. My ex Fiancée and I imported crystals and ran a couple of wellness / psychic markets, but covid and dictator dan's lockdowns stopped all that. I hope you used the recent full moon to cleanse those lovely crystals.

Re: Spud Buds!

Gotta protect myself from negative vibes, for SURE @Former-Member.

That's so sucky that the wellness/psychic markets got shut down. I would have adored going to it 😑

Some of my crystals were near the window, so they got a good bath, but I actually forgot about most of them (was at a friend's house that night). I have a selenite plate that a bunch of my crystals take turns sitting on as well, which helps when I inevitably forget about the full moon.

Hmmm, maybe I love things that come from in the ground (potatoes and crystals)... 🤔

Re: Spud Buds!

@0ddsidian Selenite is the best! I have a slab under my pillow and use selenite for gridding rooms. I used to have a selenite lamp in the bedroom for keeping the negative spirits away. I'm definitely hearing you in regards to the negative vibes, between family casting juju, my kids with their jealousy and manipulation and the ex-wife doing blood / dark magic, negative vibes, curses and hexes are something I have to be vigilant for. I haven't gotten to a point of making a witch's jar yet, but it is part of the arsenal if needed.

Proactiveness is key in most things, I think @Former-Member. Glad you're doing some things to protect your energy ❤️
