Tillogram

Hi All

@tyme @AuntGlow @Jynx @rav3n @MJG017 @NightFury @Shaz51 @MissGremlin @Appleblossom @Dimity and many others I have accidentally forgotten to tag

Just letting people know I am back safely from my trip.

I had a great trip, my sport event was brilliant and then I travelled a little bit.

Not sure how much engagement I will have with forums as only just returned to this cold weather!

I'm not sure what's been happening, but I hope everyone is well.

Hi @rav3n thanks for responding. Hope you have a nice rest of the evening.

Re: Tillogram

No, it was perfect!! I think it's such a great conversation starter that has depth, but that doesn't mean it's innately heavy. In fact, it's quite celebratory. @Till23

I hear you with this and I have made note of it, so thank you for letting me know how you're feeling. 🥰

Knowing that we may not be able to respond straight away (but still very much care about you and want to support you where we can), what would help you to feel more of a sense of belonging here?

Support lines can be really wonderful options and I always encourage having a few supports you can access in case one isn't available. I was told about this peer-led phone service that you may find helpful, actually! https://www.wellways.org/our-services/listenwell-warmline/ I would love to hear how you go if you ever decide to call.

I understand where you're coming from. Please know that we always trust you to do what is best for you and will welcome you back with open arms whenever you wish to connect with us.

I do hope I hear from you soon. 💛

Re: Tillogram

Thanks for your response @AuntGlow. I personally think it's an interesting topic and I think many/most philosophical questions are interesting. Sometimes, I think, it helps you to see the bigger picture. Often in MH issues there is a lot of turning inward and looking at the self, not the self interacting with the world.

Anyhow that's probably better discussed in a different forum.

I would not call any sort of support line or even service unless I was really distressed and thinking of suicide or so shutdown, I was unable to function. Otherwise I feel I may be hindering other people from accessing the service in a timely manner. I suppose I just triage myself and usually find, my worries are a low priority.

I like to help people where I can, but feel there are a lot of other members who do a nicer job than I would, so maybe better if I don't say anything.

I saw my GP today mainly for my recent injuries, but she asked me how long since I felt joy and I said months, probably years. I do stuff but I don't really feel it. I know I'm lucky to do things and I see others happy and excited but I don't feel it. She said it is not easy to overcome that level of chronic dissociation.

Anyhow I will look into some of the more recent non-talking treatments that are now offered.

I hope things go well for you with studying, working and your entertainment hobbies - thanks for chatting over last few months

Re: Tillogram

oh makes sense! i see the post you're referring to @Till23. seeing that post was actually a good reminder for me to get up and have a lil stretch. do you reckon getting a fitness watch is worth it? i've been thinking of it on and off for a while.

also hope your day's going well 💙

Re: Tillogram

Hi @rav3n I'm glad you've had a stretch and moved. It is so easy when you are busy on the computer for time to just pass by without you even being aware. It's probably a personal thing, I think, whether or not to get a fitness tracker. I find it motivates me and reminds me when I haven't moved for a while. I did get a bit of a short term lift when I have done well (according to my criteria). It's helpful for me with my sport.

Some people might find it anxirty provoking or depressing I suppose.

Anyhow hope you have a good evening. You will likely have logged off by the time I get abck from sports training this evening.

Re: Tillogram

Good afternoon, @Till23!

How are you today? 🥰

I agree, I very much enjoy philosphical questions too. I like your line of questioning and curiosity.

Is it okay if I offer another perspective on this?

I think you offer your own experiences and insight which are invaluable as they are.

I can imagine feeling this disconnect would fee really heavy... just sitting with you in this space.

Ah, I think that is a wonderful idea. Somatic or creative therapies could be so healing, by allowing safe connection to the body.

Thank you, I always enjoy chatting with you. 💛

Re: Tillogram

exactly, i lose track of time very easily when i'm working with screens. sometimes i put alarms on my phone as reminders to grab a drink, take a break, etc. make sense that it would be a personal thing @Till23 i can see how it would be helpful for sports too! oh yes, i get what you mean about it being anxiety provoking/depressing for some - that's definitely happened to me in the past when i've placed a lot of pressure/expectations on myself. i might look into it further, appreciate you sharing your pov.

i see what you mean, and i get why you'd be upset with that. to be fair, it can be confusing as our title says 'peer support worker' so there's probably an expectation around us responding/supporting first. but we actually prioritise the moderation stuff first, and we like to give other members a chance to connect/support each other first before jumping in (this is to help members connect with the community and avoid relying on 1:1s with mods). just to be clear, i'm not saying you do this or anything, this is just me explaining our mod thought process. i'm sorry if it comes off as us not caring, we definitely do care! also please feel free to share your thoughts on the feedback form if you'd like: Feedback and complaints policy

i'm heading off now, i hope your training goes well 😊

Re: Tillogram

Hey @Till23 ,

I just read your post. I totally respect your decision if you feel it is in your best interests to take some time off. But please know we always appreciate your connection and hearing about what's been happening for you.

Your life is a real inspiration and I know you like to busy yourself.

I hope you are not taking time off because you are considering that mods are busy.

Please know we care and I look forward to hearing from you whenever you are ready.

Re: Tillogram

Hi @AuntGlow thanks for your response.. I hope you are well and not too busy on the forums!

I am thinking maybe I could study philosophy or psychology just out of interest in my retirement..

I do like learning things and those things are fascinating I think. It's kind of thinking about thinking!

Re: Tillogram

Hi @tyme I haven't seen you around for a while. Thanks for your response..

I don't think that I am an inspiration, I think I'm just a person, who is now trying to manage their mental health by doing things that have evidence to show they help with MH, such as exercise and especially social exercise and just getting out and doing things with other people.

Previously I was a person that was trying to help other people in a very direct way in my jobs.

Hopefully I can still help people in my Live Experience role and in being on committee of my sport club and volunteering.

The mods are busy, that's a fact. I suppose I feel a bit like I am not getting as much out of the forums as previously. I am a lot busier than when I joined, so I feel I am not interacting and perhaps assisting people as much as before. So I'm probably not feeling as connected as I did before. I did connect with a few people again today, which wasn't a particularly good day for me at the beginning but has ended a bit better and I am hoping to sustain that.

Hope you have a lovely evening
