Tillogram

Hi All

@tyme @AuntGlow @Jynx @rav3n @MJG017 @NightFury @Shaz51 @MissGremlin @Appleblossom @Dimity and many others I have accidentally forgotten to tag

Just letting people know I am back safely from my trip.

I had a great trip, my sport event was brilliant and then I travelled a little bit.

Not sure how much engagement I will have with forums as only just returned to this cold weather!

I'm not sure what's been happening, but I hope everyone is well.

Re: Tillogram

We'd just need it by the end of the month ideally @Till23, but can be a bit flexible with that too 😊

Re: Tillogram

Thanks @Ru-bee I kind of feel a bit obliged to do it, but I am really stretched at the moment. I'm finding stressors harder to deal with

Re: Tillogram

Sounds so therapeutic in that you are getting out into nature. @Till23

I religiously use the smiling mind app. I procrastinate, but I still do it because I know how helpful it is for me.

Depending on how I feel, and what's been going on for me, I use different programs on smiling mind. For example, if I've had a run in with someone during the day, I choose a compassion program. If I've got a lot on my mind, then I chose the 'unwind' program. If I find I'm just snacking on unhealthy food for the sake of it, I choose the 'cravings' program.

I love the scientific blurb they have at the beginning of the programs too. It's only a few sentences, but it helps me understand the 'why' behind what I'm doing

Hope you go easy on yourself! Sounds like you've got a lot happening!

Thanks for getting in touch

Re: Tillogram

There's no obligations @Till23 though I appreciate that you're wanting to be a part of it. Maybe just see how you go and if you find yourself having the space and wanting to contribute that'll be fab, but if not we absolutely get it

I'm about to hop off but I hope tomorrow is lovely weather for you

Re: Tillogram

Thanks @tyme I was recommended to try some kind of mindfulness or meditative type things and I'd heard about the smiling mind and thought it could be useful for that. I am only just hanging on these last couple/few weeks. I am keepng myself busy but to a ridiculous degree to try and stave off negative thought patterns. I am feeling the weight of expectation on me. Today I went to a talk about suicide after CSA and that was hard to be at, but I was able to not feel so alone in my reactions to my own CSA. I don't have anyone with whom I can discuss things.

Re: Tillogram

Thanks for trusting us @Till23 . I hear it can be so hard. I honestly feel, from my own experiences, that as part of recovery and staying well, it's about pushing us out of f our natural and normal thought patterns. This is the way to grow and change and well as maintain any changes.

At this moment, I driven towards studies. I've studied so much and the more I study, the more I want to know... whilst it can be stressful studying and learning, it also helps change some of those 'normal' thought patterns.

Re: Tillogram

Yes I have studied a lot @tyme I have studied formally for about 35 years. I have multiple qualifications, I've always completed the quals I started. I once counted the letters I could have after my name and it's about 30 I think 🤣.

But I've also worked for like 45 years.

So lots of nights and weekend either working or studying.

It has been my major way of coping by far, it is not ideal because there is a lot I have missed/not done.

I spent 6.5 days a week "doing" something formally for years so I am not used to just "being".

I fit stuff in by multi-tasking and not sleeping much, eating while studying or moving.

I know how to "do" stuff. But now I am exhausted. I am probably burnt out.

Now I have to learn how to "be" so that's why I'm looking into the smiling mind or any other things that can help.

I will never not study though I love learning new things. At times I have found it hard to want to learn new things, but it never lasts long. I will cease to exist if I stop learning.

Re: Tillogram

I can totally relate. I feel like I keep going as a way to cope. I get so much out of keeping busy, that I keep doing it @Till23

But like you, there comes a tipping point where exhaustion sets in.

What do you do?

I can't sit around waiting to feel good.

Re: Tillogram

No I can't sit around waiting @tyme that's why I am researching options like the smiling mind app.

I know that nature is calming for me even though I might do a run or some fast walking or climbing in there. I will get through a few kms tomorrow if I go bush

I will try to do some photography because I can get into a bit of a flow state with that especially doing macro-photography. But I need something consistent that I can do when weather not good etc, so that's why I am looking into the apps.

I am currently doing a lot for my sport club, I've done about 30hours so far this week. I've also got a couple of sport comps coming up. I've got stuff to do with Dad's estate. I've got volunteering. I've got a LE thing coming up. I'm doing some cancer fundraising.

Do you use anything apart from Smiling mind?
