Tillogram

Hi All

@tyme @AuntGlow @Jynx @rav3n @MJG017 @NightFury @Shaz51 @MissGremlin @Appleblossom @Dimity and many others I have accidentally forgotten to tag

Just letting people know I am back safely from my trip.

I had a great trip, my sport event was brilliant and then I travelled a little bit.

Not sure how much engagement I will have with forums as only just returned to this cold weather!

I'm not sure what's been happening, but I hope everyone is well.

Phantom page on my thread @tyme

With the MH/Neuroscience qualification - I find it interesting because I like the science behind MH, which has become much more recognised in recent times.

Thanks for chatting tonight @tyme I have felt heard and it has helped me to broaden my thinking about things. You tend to become a bit consumed with your own stuff and your thoughts turn inwards.

Re: Tillogram

Yes, I just saw the phantom page and reported it @Till23

Also, your post came up on our side as deleted. But then it appeared. This is one of the issues we are having.

GRRRRR!

And yes, I absolutely remember that member who passed away, as well as being aware that you have been on the Yarning Space. I'm following intently 🙂

But yes, I totally hear what you are saying in terms of having PSWs there. One thing we have to consider though is how PSW can build up a self-sustaining community. Currently, we have over 47,000 members.

At this very moment, we have 4837 people online on the forums. So our role is to help establish the processes and volunteers (Community Guides, Peer Guides) who can do help keep our forums going. The forums will only get larger. We have some big projects brewing. Hence we have this in mind.

I'm open to hearing your thoughts about this.

Oh @tyme probably you need to re-read my post just before your reply about teh phantom page, it may have come up as deleted because I may have been editing as you were trying to read it.

Re: Tillogram

I just went back to read it. Wow! I can see what an amazing asset you'd be in so many areas @Till23 . You have such broad experiences.

In the past, I always said how much I hated my situation, but now, I know that without what I've been through, I'd never be able to help people the way I do. It makes my job so fulfilling.

Don't get me wrong. There are tough parts to the job, but it doesn't compare to the fulfillment one receives by sharing lived experience in a meaningful way.

Re: Tillogram

Yes I agree @tyme having had experiences really helps in understanding other people and situations. Sometimes when I think about what I have done in my life, I do feel like I'm a bit of an interesting person.

I have said this to my psych (who I met because I had cancer) that if I had a choice between having cancer or cPTSD/depression/anxiety, I would choose cancer without question.

Which many people would find frankly ridiculous.

Probably because even though they may not have had either, they feel they know that cancer is terrible, but they don't understand how terrible MH conditions can be, and some people still think people should just get over it or it's somehow the person fault. Whereas they think getting cancer is just an unfortunate incidence of bad luck.

Thanks so much for chatting tonight.

That is the thing about the forums, you don't have the luxury of this as a PSW, but there are people who you just feel more deeply connected to and you feel you can have a great deep and meaningful conversation with as well as a bit of banter. For me, one of those people is you. I have the luxury of skipping over posts that I don't find interesting or even a bit hard or are with people I just don't agree with.

Hope you ahve a great evening and get a good rest before you're next on

Re: Tillogram

Awwww @Till23 .

Thank you so much. Your post means so much to me. I really appreciate your words.

Hugs to you @Till23 .

You are incredible and it feels like the universe has chosen you for a reason. I don't know what it's like to be in your shoes, and you wouldn't know what it's like to be in my shoes. But you're right. We've connected, and it means a lot.

Please take care. I think I'm on the forums early tomorrow, so I'll see you around 1pm if you're online. I'm starting early and finishing early tomorrow. Hope to take the kids out to the city after - before they start school next week.

Hi @tyme I know you are about to log off and this post is in no way requiring any type of time-limited response. I am answering your question.

But yes, I totally hear what you are saying in terms of having PSWs there. One thing we have to consider though is how PSW can build up a self-sustaining community. Currently, we have over 47,000 members.

I'm open to hearing your thoughts about this.

I would be very interested in hearing about any projects, because among the other things mentioned I also have about a 10year history in research (I can fit this stuff into my life, because I am old). I also understand that there will never be enough MH care workers for the number of people with MH issues, so we (society) need to find other solutions, apart fom one-on-one care, for MH.

Look forward to shooting the breeze on this

Wow that many members online last night @Till23 , @tyme

Imagine reaching those 4837 members and letting them all know that we are here for them xx

Re: Tillogram

The idea of SANE's three services is a bit like this:

For people who need more intensive 1:1 support, they utilise the 16 week Guided Recovery program. When they finish that program, they can access 6 months of Recovery Club. They can then move to accessing the forums for as long as they wish.

Just say a member on the forums is going through something rough, they can then step back up to the more intensive programs at SANE.

So it's a bit like a step up/step down program with no exit date unless you misuse the service.

This is something we are always reviewing in terms of how to improve these services to make them seamless @Till23 @Shaz51

Re: Tillogram

Hi @tyme @Shaz51 how are you this friday afternoon. It's cold and rainy where I am today. But after doing some activities in the morning to keep myself warm. I now have my fire on and am doing admin in front of that.

Yes, I first accessed the SANE guided recovery because I don't live in a major city and so it was available in my postcode (they had that limitation before). That was after my limited psycho-oncology finished for first cancer and I couldn't get a private psych appointment due to lack of services.

As you can tell by recent questions I didn't actually find out about the recovery club, so skipped that and went to forums very briefly about a year later. And then I have been on here again since Jan this year.

I didn't know that I could rejoin the guided recovery after a year of not using it and when I found out I was going to book in, but it didn't work out with trying to tidy up Dad's house etc. I currently have a psych so don't need that service.
