Tillogram

Hi All

@tyme @AuntGlow @Jynx @rav3n @MJG017 @NightFury @Shaz51 @MissGremlin @Appleblossom @Dimity and many others I have accidentally forgotten to tag

Just letting people know I am back safely from my trip.

I had a great trip, my sport event was brilliant and then I travelled a little bit.

Not sure how much engagement I will have with forums as only just returned to this cold weather!

I'm not sure what's been happening, but I hope everyone is well.

Re: Tillogram

Hey @Till23 ,

I actually got a HAR file for this forbidden issue this time round. I'll just keep sending them through until we get it resolved. Thank you for letting us know! Has the occurance been somewhat less though?

As for TMS, it's been recommended for me in the past, but I never went through with it. I guess it is much less invasive than ECT can be? I didn't realise there was a cost involved in TMS. Does private health cover provide it? I've known some forums members who have it during an inpatient stay at a private clinic because they have private health insurance.

What are your thoughts? I'm open to hearing.

Re: Tillogram

Hi @tyme it's a bit hard to gauge whether the frequency of the 403 Forbidden thing is greater or less than before. This is mainly because I am on the forums less I think, but I have it 3 times this evening and I probably got it 3 times yesterday evening. Once I'm back it stays ok, before I would be kicked off multiple times in a row.

Yes, TMS is much less invasive than ECT, because no sedation required, no need to go to a hospital, you can have it as an outpatient and there is no restrictions on what you do before or after.

.

The criteria for medicare subsidised sessions, the main criteria is treatment resistant depression (I saw you had a conversation about this terminology on another thread. However, in this case, it actually works out for me).

.

Anyway, probably wrote too much, sorry.

Re: Tillogram

Hey @Till23 ,

You didn't write too much at all. Thank you for sharing about TMS including the cost side of it because I honeslty don't know that much about it. Makes a lot of sense. From the science side, I believe it aims to 'reactivate' parts of the brain that having been 'firing' in a while? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Once again, is mental health treatment only available for those who have money? That's so sad.

Also, are you saying that "treatment resistant" is the term they use for medicare subsidised sessions? Is that where the terminology stems from? If so, once again, we go back to the medicalised model... However, I see that it is in your favour this time 🙂

Re: Tillogram

Hi @tyme,, I know you are off shortly.. and I also need to be heading off too,, as I've got quite a bit on in the next couple of days or so.. However,, although I don't mind talking about the "technical" side of things.. and I am usually ok to do that, but not just now.

Re: Tillogram

Asking of help is hard, especially for those who are not used to asking for help @Till23

I can see how getting into the technical side of things can alleviate some of the discomfort.

Do you have this as part of a safety plan? That is, how to identify you are struggling? Sometimes, noting these downs can help both yourself and others identify when you are struggling.

Re: Tillogram

@Till23 I am glad you could type out how you are feeling and hope in a little way that helped. I can whole heartedly agree with you re: the inequity of support across the forums and like you, see so much for some members and none for others. Yes it is a peer-to-peer forum but when we see PSWs/mods interacting continually with some members and none for others, it is frustrating ...especially when, as you have said, you are very unwell and that support would be much appreciated. The triage system does not work (I have said this numerous times across many threads and many months so I don't expect it to change unfortunately 😢). The forums are not a crisis service but it seems more and more that members seen as in crisis have a lot of support rather than them being directed to other services that are more equipped to help in those cirumstances. For me, that leaves them much more open to continue posting and therefore keep getting that support here - and leaves people like you without support because time and resources are being put into those members consistently and continually. To be clear - I am not saying those members do not deserve support however there is a limit and reach that these forums are equipped to deliver that ongoing support. I would ask "where do we draw the line?" and "are we enabling those members rather than focussing on the recovery model?"

I can see you are not doing well and to have no response to your previous post is also an issue. You should have had someone respond before now and that is a deficiency of the overnight moderation - another area of concern!

How are you feeling this morning Hon? Probably feeling dismissed and left behing - both of which I fully understand. There needs to be a lot more work done service wide to make sure there is equity in responses and support ....especially making sure there are responses to ALL posts - and if that is not done by peers then workers need to cover those gaps.

I do understand your thoughts around 'if this is the place for you" and 'should you just leave" - I have been in that place for sometime now ....and that is not okay (for either of us). As someone who has been on the forums for nearly 10 years, it is frustrating and disappointing it has come to this. I do know changes are coming but am fearful that theses changes with further enhance the gaps ....that is a 'wait and see' but I am not confident they will address the gaps and inequities we are currently seeing.

Whether you stay or leave is of course up to you but I wanted you to know you are heard and seen❤️

Re: Tillogram

Totally agree @Zoe7 , @Till23

And for ones like us who have been here for 10 years and there is some of us

There are few areas of concern and especially some of the spaces that I am trying to be involved in and to encourage members to interact
