Re: Eliminating or reducing chronic (everyday) flashbacks

I think the eye lid cyst is contributing to the sinus pain, not 100% sure. But it started oozing more around the same time I got the sinus infection.

I’ll have lunch later today and might watch some TV

@rav3n like why should I postpone my surgery for eye cyst by two months because my dad can’t accompany me. Like am I supposed to be on antibiotics for the next 2 months, and should I buy tons of decongestants (even though they’re only short term use) to get through this pain. I am suspecting this sinus pain might not be unrelated to the eye. My left nostril is burning and my face is hurting. My eye feels sticky and the pain feels more intense today, but I don’t think I’ve been sleeping well

@creative_writer i'm so sorry you have to push through 2 more months of discomfort and pain, that sounds really exhausting and frustrating too, especially when you weren't given much of a choice. is anyone else able to accompany you besides your dad?

@rav3n I haven’t cancelled my Wednesday appointment (I sort of confirmed it without telling her), I think I might just end up going by myself. My mum wants my dad to accompany me, and isn’t at peace with anyone else going instead. Delaying things can have consequences, my eye specialist said to get it sorted ASAP.

I think a lot of things are annoying me today. I am still feeling sick and I don’t feel like I slept well. I have a lot going on with my mental health with CPTSD and bipolar

@creative_writer that's really tough, especially when the doc is saying to get it sorted ASAP but your family is asking you to wait. it sounds fair to me that you want to get it done on the Wednesday, do you have other family members that could take you? is there a reason your mum wants your dad to accompany you in particular?

definitely sounds like there's a lot on your plate today, i hope you're able to take things at a calm pace. and hope you've had your matcha with saffron 💖

Re: Eliminating or reducing chronic (everyday) flashbacks

@rav3n my parents have pretty much accepted it now. Though they’ll want me to get a ride and not take PTV. They wouldn’t have allowed me to drive even if I could. It’s too far and even though the clinic say it’s safe after a wait, they wouldn’t feel comfortable with it.

Yeah there is a lot. I know some people’s flashbacks go away and become less frequent, but I don’t see that happening rn. I hate to see myself continuing like this? It puts me back into that mindset. I know it’s not happening, but it feels like it is. I’m trying to convince I’m okay and safe. Being a POC also adds complexities on our experiences, I’m still learning to navigate that. I’ve had lots of tea today, not just my matcha and saffron, I’ve had chamomile and lavender and I’ve also had ginger and lemon. Trying to keep all my fluids

Re: Eliminating or reducing chronic (everyday) flashbacks

Hello @creative_writer, I'm so sorry that i missed this post, it was only when I was going through my emails that I found it.

The counsellor I've been talking to has been ok but last time we were deep into talking about some very traumatic events when she suddenly says 'I've got someone in the waiting room so I have to go, thanks for sharing with me' and that was basically the end of the call. So it left me feeling really worked up and I struggled to calm myself down after it. After being let down and hurt by so many professionals previously I just needed this experience to be different. But I'm going to try to talk to her again tomorrow and see how it goes.

How are you going today?

Re: Eliminating or reducing chronic (everyday) flashbacks

@creative_writer yep, i see. sometimes people are really drained afterwards so having a ride back sounds like a safe option. hope it all goes well!!

it's okay if it's feeling like really hard at the moment - like you mentioned, you are handling a lot with the sinus infection, eye cyst, migraines, job search, volunteer training, managing those flashbacks, etc - i reckon feeling stressed makes those flashbacks more persistent? though its hard right now, it won't always be like this. when your plate get lighter, i hope that it will get slightly easier to manage. glad you're staying hydrated and having those teas, hoping you feel a lil relief from them 💗
