Loneliness

Loneliness

I am 20 years old and never had a boyfriend or really have anyone show any serious romantic attention towards me. I don’t know how to get past the lonely feeling I have. I so scared I’m going to end up alone and I don’t really know how to accept that. Does anyone have any tips for finding someone or reasons why I might not be?

Re: Loneliness

Hi,

I'll be turning 20 next month. I've been in like 4 relationships before but they were all online with strangers that I had never met (so you can tell how none of the four relationships were genuine or serious but rather just sexually based). I've never been in any other relationship or have ever been in a relationship with a person in real life, and currently, I also don't have any friends either. I really resonate the loneliness you are going through. I'm also not able to completely open up with family - which I think is because of cultural, age/generation and mindset differences. I hear that you do have friends but even with your friends you are not able to completely lean on them. I can hear that you desire but lack the next notch of intimacy and closeness - and I am so sorry to hear this. But I want you to know that you are not alone. We have literally just started our lives. We still have a very long way to go and lot's of things to still figure out. Although we are 20, we are basically still almost like older teens.

Re: Loneliness

Hi @Lonely_Soul, I guess you're right we're both still young and learning and we have so much time to figure stuff out. Thankyou for you response, it's helpful to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way. I hope that both of us can find some more peace and connection in our lives. Feel free to @ me if you need to chat/rant.

Re: Loneliness

Welcome to the forums @Lonely_Soul ,

I hear your experiences and can totally relate. I have BPD, and relationships are hard altogether. For many years, it was as though body body grew up, but emotionally and relationship-wise, I was only a kid.

Life is a roller coaster. I hope you find things improve.

Re: Loneliness

Hey @Lonely_Soul ,

So great to hear from you! How have you been?

I've had some really busy days, but I feel that I have at last caught up on sleep and rest.

So yeah, I can't really complain. What about yourself? Have you been up to much?

Once again, I just want to say that it's great to see you pop in!

@tyme

Really great to see you too!

Yeh I've just been doing uni as usual. Mentally, I haven't been that great though. I've experienced a lot of hurt from other members of mycricle (another forum like SANE), and it caused me to delete my account on there which I had for two years. I've been crying a lot recently ngl. Re: Loneliness

I'm sorry to hear about what has happened @Lonely_Soul ,

Looking back, do you think whatever happened is something that could have been worked on or worked out?

I'm mindful that forums can be a place where there is miscommunication sometimes, so I want to ensure you feel supported in case it happens here too.

I'm open to whatever you think.
