Loneliness

Loneliness

I am 20 years old and never had a boyfriend or really have anyone show any serious romantic attention towards me. I don’t know how to get past the lonely feeling I have. I so scared I’m going to end up alone and I don’t really know how to accept that. Does anyone have any tips for finding someone or reasons why I might not be?

Re: Loneliness

It's been tough. Internally I've been struggling with thoughts that I am hated and I'm a bully because of all the social conflicts I experienced recently in the past two years. People say to learn from the past, but i don't know what to learn from it cause I genuinely don't think it was my fault at all. Yes once I reacted angry to someone's passive aggressive bullying....but at the same, that's not really much of my fault other than 'I could've controlled my emotions better' even though I tried my best to remain composed. Idk I just feel like I'm not a friendly person for someone else to care and love me. It's been really difficult feeling this way especially when I think I am friendly but my conflicts with people contradict that. It's also really difficult having to manage feeling like this with trying to study. So yh I've been silently, invisibly, struggling internally every single day with a fake smile on my face.

Thankyou so much for checking in. I really appreciate it. How have you been? @tyme

Re: Loneliness

That sounds like a lot to sit with @Lonely_Soul I hear that bully can really affect a person in many ways.

Do you have friends you can reach out to do you feel less isolated?

Re: Loneliness

That's okay @Lonely_Soul . It takes time and requires opportunities. At least you have an entire community here to listen, connect and support you.

What do you do to keep yourself busy in the day?

Re: Loneliness

It sounds like you have a few outlets and supports. At least that's a start. What would be most helpful support from a forum @Lonely_Soul ?

What are things you enjoy doing?

Re: Loneliness

I think I really lean on people for support. I need someone to just be there for me through thick and thin, and really care and love me.

I enjoy philosophy, history, sociology youtube videos and reading books (i only recently figured this out when I tried reading a book thinking that it would make me feel less lonely.

A recommend pursuit of wonder youtube channel - always beautifully explain and soothingly spoken.

For books i'd say 1984, and Burial rites.

I think I want to read handmaid's tale and frankenstein one day too.
