Functioning with ADHD

Functioning with ADHD

How do people function while living with ADHD? I’m pretty much non-functional, it’s taking a toil on my mental health, I’m stuck in constant rumination. I try to look for a reasonable solution, but I see the unreasonable

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@AuntGlow it’s not realistic for the thoughts to leave. I got through today, but it was hard. I do feel enormous amount of pressure to be okay. I want to feel like I’m living my life again.

The thoughts help me process the frustration and helped me not feel alone. I’ve been teary the whole day, and felt teary while listening to it. I don’t feel strong today, I would’ve given in to my cravings if I could. Not having access made me super upset. I wish it wasn’t this way, I don’t want to be this desperate.

I feel a bit numb right now. I’m going to finish of prayers for tonight

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer fingers crossed for clarity from ya bloods, hun!

Yeah absolutely! I always think of this meme lol

How pitiful the world would be without the richness of so many cultures! Authentic ethnic food always warms the soul, hey. Do you like to cook at all?

Maybe you could make a playlist that starts sad then maybe gets angry then more and more upbeat? I guess whether it's helpful or not depends if you feel lighter or heavier afterwards?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Jynx I hope I do get answers.

I find true British food bland. Ethnic food is amazing. I cook a bit, I know I few dishes, but not a huge lot.

I never considered making a playlist with different emotions. I don’t know if it’ll work, maybe it would? Do you have dedicated playlists?

It helps that I am able to relate to music, because so much going on in my mind that I’m ashamed of

Hey @creative_writer hearing its a hard morning.

What's on for today?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Ru-bee it is hard to find peace when my body is constantly craving. My thoughts are too loud this morning.

I don’t have much planned for the afternoon, I don’t feel super well, physical and emotionally. Probably lots of self care

Re: Functioning with ADHD

That's fair enough @creative_writer

Do you have any go-to self-care methods that you've been leaning on lately?

In response to: Re: Functioning with ADHD

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Ru-bee a combination of self-care works-e.g., breathing, grounding, keeping meals regular (this probably needs more work), reading, watching TV, spend time with others, reach out for support when needed, prayers, showers (I am not up for one today). I am currently making spinach for lunch.

Do the cravings ever disappear? I need to find a replacement to help me cope with SI and SH urges. Also something to help me manage daily flashbacks and anxiety, but I don't know how to find the replacement. PRN isn't doing what it is meant to be doing

Re: Functioning with ADHD

I feel like I haven’t been able to get out of this lately. I do self care everyday and had a PRN last night, surely it shouldn’t be this hard
