I'm not sure I can relate, but I hope others can share their experiences and insights.

I hear the pressures your family have placed on you to get married etc. and I'm mindful you have shared in the past that they want to ensure you are supported. Yet it's also important to respect that that is not something you are wanting at the moment, or maybe never.

Have you had a quiet sit-down convo with your folks about this? I know you've told them in the past, but do you feel it was it an open conversation?

@tyme lol a ‘sit down’ chat 🤣 hell nah. I talked about it with my mum already a few times and she still says the same thing and doesn’t wanna change her mind so there’s no point. Anyway, the last time I told her to stop trying to get me to be with a Cambodian guy she just responded with “ok, no worries”, so at least my worries about that has calmed down, but doesn’t change the fact that her pressuring me and telling me all this still tends to be in my head at times cause you know

Earlier this year when my uncle introduced me to a guy (on Facebook messenger) who turned out to be like 8 years older than me, I immediately crashed out at him and expressed my feelings and thoughts. I was being completely real and honest with my feelings and including the angry emojis towards him too. Not to mention he also lives in Cambodia so yeah….but he accepted my refusal which was good anyway, but the thing he said which made me mad was when he said if I delayed marriage, then my age would increase & therefore it’d be more difficult to find someone that’s my age…. Yeah ummm. There was another time after that when he tagged me on a post where the caption says “age is just a number” and at first I sent him a ton of messages expressing my frustrations and stuff, but then later on I deleted them cause I didn’t wish to continue wasting my time and energy on it. But then the next morning he saw that the messages were deleted so he asked me what did I send him, to which I then responded with “why did you tag me on a post where the caption says ‘age is just a number’? 😐” he left it on read and didn’t respond lmao

Few months later (just last month I think) I blocked him in case if he wants to introduce me to anymore guys again that he has found

I hear the pressure @Blackcloud ! That sounds so hectic! So it's more than just your parents on your back...you've got the entire extended family!

No worries, no one here on the forums will put that pressure on you 🙂

@tyme If I can keep yelling not just at my mum but to my uncle as well, then I would 🤭🤭 I know yelling is not necessarily the best thing, but when you have to deal with someone that’s not willing to listen to your views and opinions and accepts them just because what you don’t agree with is normal in that culture for facks sake, then I find the yelling & being angry to be reasonable 😛
