Re: Welcome AuntGlow!

Hi @AuntGlow

I’ve got some pretty cool Lego sets and some other non Lego sets too. I think I like seeing the pieces come together to create something really cool. The 2 Disney castles, the back of them have so many different rooms and they all tell stories. I also love how they use random pieces to be something else. You see that a lot with the flowers. And of course the end product!

It was my second time in Paris. My daughter and I went over the london a few years ago for a friends wedding (was all booked and got cancelled due to covid) and we did a day trip to Paris on the train. We didn’t really do much then, we did the Eiffel Tower up to the second floor, a seine river cruise and a bus ride around all the main sights. It was torture not having the time to get off and explore.

Christmas last year, we primarily went (mum, myself and my daughter) to take my step dad’s ashes back to the UK. He passed a couple of years ago and that’s where he was from. Mum had never been overseas before. We didn’t really do london all over again for mum, but I love it there! Then we hired a car and went north to where he was from and meet his family for the first time. Had Christmas there. Then down to Windsor for a couple of nights there exploring and going to legoland!. Back to london for a few more days and NYE. Then the train to Paris for a few nights this time. Disneyland, we did a bit more exploring in london, went to the Lourve that was a real surreal moment. Mona Lisa. Then to the notra dame cathedral which has just opened back up after the fire. Eiffel Tower but this time to the very top! We tried frogs legs and snails. Could have stayed longer as there is so much to see! Paris and london are both such beautiful places. We caught the train back to london and flew home.

Wicked was ok. Bit long.

have you travelled much??

Re: Welcome AuntGlow!

@Bow I love hearing how much they mean to you, it's amazing that you have something like this in your life, which brings you such joy.

Oh wow, the UK sounds like it was bittersweet, especially for mum. I am sorry to hear about your loss, but I am glad to hear you got to see where he was from and meet his family. It sounds like you had so many wonderful experiences overseas... especially Legoland! Is there anywhere you haven't been that you would love to go??

I haven't travelled much, but I have been to the UK and Central Europe. I would love to go to Eastern Europe or Asia next!

Re: Welcome AuntGlow!

I know I’m very late to this, but welcome @AuntGlow its so good to see you around here on the forums and I hope you’re enjoying your time here so far!

I’m about to start doing my first ever bachelors degree next trimester (July-November) - which is the Bachelor of Psychological Science (same as Bachelor of Psychology) and I’m very looking forward to it!

My questions I have for you are (if you’re comfortable answering them ofc):

1. What courses did you do (and/or are doing) at uni and/or TAFE?

2. I can see you’ve joined the forums here earlier this month, have you ever joined the forums before this on a different account? (Might be a weird question haha)

3. What state in Australia are you currently based at?

thanks! 🙂

Re: Welcome AuntGlow!

Hello @AuntGlow . Welcome to the forums! I’m so glad you’ve joined as a new peer worker. I hope you have a great time being here. Do you like sports? Are you studying at the moment or have you completed your mental health training?

I’m a Community Guide with a lived experience of mental health and I’ve been on the forums for at least 6 years. Just recently I’ve added the role of carer to my housemate/best friend to my jobs which has been challenging but interesting at the same time as she also has both mental health and physical health issues that need to be taken care of which I help her with. I’ve studied mental health in the past - a Certificate IV in Mental Health at TAFE- but I’m yet to complete it due to my health issues. I’m hoping to go back to it in July and finally get the certificate at long last (it’s been 9 years on/off since I started it). I’m based in Victoria and am into crafts - knitting, crochet, cross stitch and now diamond art painting (a new hobby I’ve discovered thanks to a recent PARCS admission in February this year)- as well as the creative pursuits of drawing and journaling. I do a lot of knitting for charity in the form of adult beanies and kids/baby jumpers and blankets and I also knit for myself including jumpers and blankets- very necessary here in Victoria where it often gets cold! I love sports - Brisbane Lions AFL team, Melbourne Storm NRL team, West Coast Fever and Sunshine Coast Lightening in the Super Netball, tennis and cricket and sometimes horse racing and v8 Supercars. I also watch the swimming when it’s on TV as well. I like drinking coffee and being at home. I’m also an identical twin which makes life interesting at times, especially when I go shopping in areas where she lives!

I look forward to seeing you around the forums soon!

Take care!

Re: Welcome AuntGlow!

Apologies for my late reply here too! I was busy yapping to you on the other thread haha @Blackcloud

Thank you for your warm welcome. ✨

Yes, this will be such an incredible journey for you! Very much looking forward to some little check-ins throughout the year.

Great questions here. I have studied a few things. I hold a Cert IV in Musical Theatre, Bachelor of Creative Arts, and Cert IV in Mental Health, but looking at postgrad in counselling or maybe more arts (or both) - I am still conflicted!

Not a weird question at all! I actually haven't, so this has been completely new terrain for me.

I am currently in Victoria.

No, thank YOU. 🥳

Re: Welcome AuntGlow!

@AuntGlow OOOOOOH nice!! I see you're an arts (musical and visual/creative arts) type person! that's great 😄 and yes I would love to study cert IV in mental health at some point - perhaps when I finish my bachelor degree in yearsssss time xP

i wanted to become an art therapist, hence why i took the fine arts course earlier this year - but i know by obtaining that course as well, i can at least add it onto my resume and LinkedIn account! 🙂

Re: Welcome AuntGlow!

Hello @Judi9877, so nice to meet you!

I am having a great time, everyone is so interesting to talk to. And even more importantly, very relatable. 💕

I am not a sports fan, but I like exploring movement very much (things like dance, yoga, pilates, strength training.) What about you?

And I am not currently studying, but I have a Cert IV in Mental Health. I also hold a Bachelor of Creative Arts, so I would like to look at amalgamating the two/studying further eventually.

6 years - Oh my goodness, that is amazing! I will definitely be coming to you for all the ins and outs of the forums. 👏

You sound like such a wonderful friend, she is very lucky to have you. Do you also have people caring for you right now? I can imagine that support whilst supporting would be very important. 💛

It sounds like you are studying what I have! You can absolutely come back to it when you're ready. There is no rush, it will always be there, and your health comes first.

Wow! So creative, I love this. @Ru-bee likes to knit too - I am assuming you have both bonded over this before? 🤔

I think it's really wonderful that you do this for charity, it must be so rewarding too.

Ooh, massive sports fan over here! I think that events like Grand Prix and Aus Open would be fun to go to. Have you been?

Okay, most important question - what is your go-to coffee order? (Mine is a soy iced latte, yes, even in Winter.)

An identical twin must make things very interesting; did you ever pretend to be each other growing up? 👀

Thank you for sharing so much about yourself with me, I appreciate the insight very much and will be thinking of you during Grand Final week. 😝
