Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm hoping coming back on this thread will help too. Mine is open ended because I have found I get too depressed when I don't do what I say I'm going to. So today I'm going to do 'running raids' on small jobs. My depression has come to a really hard place where I can only make 15 min out of bed at a time and I'm exhausted and full of self loathing. Today my goal is to do more of the 15 min at a time and try not to get caught up so much with self loathing.

Hi @CheerBear, @Former-Member, and everyone,

Today I am still in my nightie at 12.30pm. So far all I've done is:

  • wake after about 9 hours sleep (only briefly interrupted)
  • breakfast
  • meds
  • email to video collaborator
  • forum

Next:

  • second meds (have to take them an hour after the first lot)
  • dress
  • make bed
  • walk on beach later in arvo
  • shower
  • forum

I'm not game to put much more on my list at the moment cos really I'm not sure I'll even get out of my nightie at this stage!

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

I've just fought off a big hit of 'there's no point in trying' after a very ugly supermarket trip, some little fish going through some big stuff and some not-so-nice onlookers watching (and commenting) at the incredibly busy shops. Bah!

Washing done and on the line (including two beds worth of sheets yay) and groceries for the week now packed away. So far I'm sticking to the plan to do only what's on the list even though I'm so badly wanting to start a bunch of other things that I know I won't finish properly and will just make me tired. About to put a movie on for the kids and head to the garage to sort through and organise it.

@Former-Member - how are you going? I was thinking about something you said a little while ago about going through this stuff with little people. I don't know if I said it at the time and apologies if I'm repeating myself, but I think it would be so hard with them bigger because I feel I'd probably be extra struggling to get up and do things. I can't not do it with what's happening while they're little (if that makes sense). I'm not sure if that's come out the way I meant it 😕 Big hugs. I can imagine how hard it would be to push yourself when you're feeling so down.

@Mazarita - hope you're having a good day either in your nightie or dressed 🙂

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

@CheerBear, good on you for 'keeping on, keeping on' despite the supermarket setback. I'm now showered and dressed, have taken second meds, made the bed and am contemplating the walk on the beach in about 20 minutes (close as possible to low tide is the best time to walk with my dodgy feet). Also adding an extra item, recently arranged over the phone, to my list for today:

  • visit friend around the corner for dinner

Thanks mate, @CheerBear. You are rockin' it too, even though it hasn't been the easiest day. That deserves extra points!

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Oh no @CheerBear. I think you live in the wrong state. Our shops are closed today still which is kind of a bonus really. You would have escaped it all. Sorry lil ones didn't cooperate. I do have empathy with you though. Shops and kids..... hmmm who ever thought that was a good idea!
What you said about them being older made perfect sense but I hate that it does though. I have wondered what I would have been like if I'd gone through my stuff when they were little. In some ways lately I've kind of realised that mine are still between a rock and a hard place in that if I left 2 of them would only be left with aging grandparents and an uncle who lives overseas as their family. The other two still have their dad interstate. All 4 have the same bio dad :face_with_rolling_eyes: ( I think you knew that).
I think that it's swings and roundabouts a bit but I honestly couldn't imagine doing this alone with younger kids. I think you and @Former-Member are in a really difficult situation with all that's on your plate and then the mi stuff and no way of escaping sometimes because it all feeds each other. But I have to say @ChearBear some of your posts have inspired me to keep trying and try harder at the little things lately so I'm very grateful for that.
Today I've managed to wash my bedding
Disassemble my fan and clean it for next year
Do dishes
And about to have long overdue shower inspired by @Mazarita who I hope is having a lovely walk as I write this.
Here's to keeping each other going with all the little things that can help with the big things.
💜🤗

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

@Former-Member - So agree with kids and supermarkets haha. I guess no matter which way we look at it, there's tough stuff happening and we're all doing/have done the best we can in our own ways. Baby kids, little kids, big kids, really big kids or no kids, all present challenges. Thank you for your kind words and I agree - here's to that 😊 Great job getting those things done today!

Hugs to you @Former-Member. Thinking of you. Hope you and @Mazarita both enjoyed your walk.

I have a funny thing that happened. I still haven't put the one clock we have in our house back from daylight savings time. I usually just check my phone or tablet for the time and the kids have had no need to check the time being on school holidays so no-one has noticed. I got all hectic and stressy over running out of time to do everything while I was cooking dinner and because devices were all charging and I'd only used the clock. Then I realised I'd been reading the time wrong and gained a magic hour today. So thankful!

Garage looks great and I can put that stress behind me now. There were boxes I hadn't unpacked that were too painful to go near and I sucked it up and did it which was hard but I'm really glad they're behind me now too. Going to do a little tidy up while the kids watch MKR for a while and then enjoy a bath knowing we're ready for back to school 🙂

Hope it's been a good afternoon/evening for you all 💕

@CheerBear For getting all the things you wanted to done and for the time warp. I can see some highlights coming up tonight.

My day has been a bit better than previous days. I did eventually make a deal with myself to achieve a couple more things and even write them on a list 😱 I should be able to tick them all. It was just a couple of small things like climb the hill across the road ( not much bigger than an ant hill really but I haven't done it for ages), put clothes away and put some summer clothes away until needed again, plant out my parsley. This has been the most productive day for ages. Thanks for starting it off again this morning 💜😘
