Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Progress report: have now cleaned the ensuite vanity. Got slowed down for a while there by interstate phone calls, one to my mum and one to my oldest friend. Mum is coming up to visit in May and she and I are trying to entice my friend to come up at the same time and share the beachfront holiday apartment I've organised for mum. Needed to speak to them both about that. It's looking good on getting to see my friend too! That's a tick even if it took up cleaning time!

Edit: Oh, and I have taken down the rubbish now too.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Guy worked with yest seemed personable enough. Said I'm in no hurry etc. Job couldn't be done the the way bosses claimed it could so he decided to do it dangerous/hard way instead of waiting for a way to do it properly. He did his bit. I was fetch and carry/obey orders listen to him saying how good he was. Til he had had enough. Then he stated it was my turn and it to finish it off for him. It was a lot harder than it looked, not really accessible etc despite nods to safety (not really) I had to run around looking for gear it didn't fit went to store as couldn't remember wherr he got it from and he had disappeared. At store there is a sign demanding politeness, a sign that little man who sits in aircon all day has major attitude problems. He didn't disappoint. After not being able to give him one of 2 numbers requested monosyllabicly he slammed electronic machine down on counter that hard it fell on floor turned and went back to hiding behind shelving where he had watched me waiting at counter for minutes fron when I arrived @Appleblossom re your encounter the other day. Then got back to job to increasingly non verbal non reply stare walk off guy. After explaining to him I physically couldn't do his spiderman act well hes 65kg and must be very flexible doing his not really safe doing splits while climbing a metre and a half in air with a harness on which supposedly makes doing that ok despite being 60 at least act. More stares. Eventually he took over. Getting more and more rude, doing it wrong couldnt care by that point, then vanished. I assumed job had finished and carried his heavy junk back to smoko room to be confronted 5mins later with with ranting and waving arms is air where were you etc in front of people who had been sitting there all day. I gave it back half smiling. He was so close to sitting on his skinny old backside.. oh and I got lumbered with driving the bus as no one else wanted to or was able. Then got supervisor looking at my time card next to me saying who the hell is this?? I said me. He stares. Says he filled all cards out. I told him he didn't do one for me. Asked for a number again. Oh you are the guy driving the bus .. I smile..say got lumbered with it and maybe they cam find someone else tomorrow @ kurra cos maybe you can relate know you going to hosp etc tho hope it goes ok . That was my day. 3 to go ... hmm

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi all, @Faith-and-Hope @TAB @Former-Member @Mazarita @TheVorticon @Zoe7

Just found this thread, a great idea. Goals, motivation and check-in - perfect.

My goals for today:

1. Start the morning with some calming breathing in an effort to reduce current high anxiety

2. Force myself out the door this morning to visit a nursing home where I volunteer weekly

3. Make time for an afternoon nap - the only sleep I manage to get as nights have been impossible

4. Do one of the following to help relax - sudoku, crosswords, poetry, watch sport, read a trashy novel

5. NOT stress out about my psych appointment tomorrow

6. Get an early night. Yeah I know, it never works. But I can try. This is all about goals, right?

My motivation: So I can shake off this latest ptsd episode and get back to living some sort of life.

I hope everyone else here has a good day. Kind thoughts to you all.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Good morning, @Former-Member and all,

Tomorrow, body corp is coming in to our rental flat for pest inspection/treatment. These are the urgent things that need doing today:

  • wash and dress
  • breakfast and medication
  • support worker visit and hopefully a walk on beach together
  • stop at shop on way back for milk
  • second round of medication
  • vacuum living room, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen
  • clean kitchen benches
  • check companion's bathroom for any cleaning needed
  • move stuff out from walls ready for pest inspection/treatment
  • remember to prepare food and eat throughout day and evening.

I hope that's all because it's way more than I usually get done in a day!

Sending good vibes to all for the day.

Oh goodness @Mazarita, you do have a busy day ahead of you.

I really hope you get to have that walk on the beach, it will help set you up for the rest of the day, release some tension and bring some happy calming thoughts your way.

All the best.

Sherry

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Just reading your list has exhausted me @Mazarita! Good Luck with it all. 🍀

Have you considered eliminating your afternoon nap @Former-Member? It may or may not help you sleep a bit better at night. Just a thought. 😴😪 Hopefully you have peaceful sleep tonight.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi @Former-Member, calm breathing as a start to the day sounds wise when feeling anxious. Getting out of the home is a good idea too. Sounds like a well thought-out plan for the day. 🙂

@Kurra, good morning, hope you slept well last night. How are you feeling today? I hope you get a slow, healing day.

I'm feeling apprehensive about my day, because everything on my list (and more) really has to be done today. Much of it is left over from what I didn't get to yesterday. Companion (who is also my unofficial part-time carer) is away interstate, which makes this sudden pest inspection/treatment bad timing. Trying not to stress. Yes, I think the beach walk will be good, though it is likely to involve some recovery time. I have physical health issues that take it out of me on these walks, wonderful as they are in other ways. Ah well, one step after another today and hopefully I'll get there (or close enough).
