Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope

I really should've added to my list:

- accept failure to meet any of the goals as an opportunity to try again next time, rather than letting it detract from the remaining goals :smileytongue

Currently trying not to get down in the dumps about only meeting 1 work goal rather than 2. Sure it's disappointing but there is NO reason why that should disrupt my entire evening. That message should hopefully kick in soon and help me complete this goal instead

HAPPY LITTLE VEGEMITES!

I did 2 loads washing (hung out), mending, dishes, went for walk, rang mumdad, took call from friend, rearranged lounge room.

Can't brag about house full of kids, being a carer (accept for dog & 4+ alters & distant parents), study or lots of work, but am doing shop shift in the morning & some online research. Nothing big. Impressed with those who do. xox

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Wow @Former-Member. I would be so proud if I achieved that. Still no shower. Hair not washed for 8 days. Assignment ✅ picked my son up from work✅ had difficult conversation with mental health team 😢. Please know having my kids here doesn't always make it better or easier. I struggle immensely to be mum. It doesn't come easy or naturally. My kids would have loved a more capable mum. They have a mum who loves them but that's about it. They have to be on their toes all the time for when I'm out of control. It's not easy on them. There are lots of times I can't cope and hide in my room. We all have different lives with different challenges.
I think you have so much on your plate and you are doing exceptionally well with them Keep going, what you're doing IS impressive.
Sending hugs 💜🤗

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Thanks @Former-Member. The flowers brightened my day
I'm working in reverse today so I get to tick things
Have shower ✅
Wash hair✅
Organise my S3 to pick up S4✅
Looking better that way
About to add
Take meds, have breakfast, do dishes
I'm feeling really low but have to hold on today.

@Former-Member I am studying a cert 4 in mental health part time. I need to enter the work force again which is huge for me. I'm hoping to be a support worker but we'll see. Like any job the study requirements are going up and so many support workers now have social work degrees or backgrounds in psychology. I'll just have to hope I can find something although I'm trying not to think about that too much now.

I moved house half way through last year. It was really quite difficult and I fell in a huge hole after I moved in. I was so scared I'd made the wrong decision and I was scared of where I was living. But now it's home and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else and I'd like to hold onto it. There were unforeseen positives. I have more support than I thought I would as I'm in the path of my best friends drive to work. She doesn't call in much but it's nice knowing she can if I ever needed her to. I hope it all works out for you with it. I'm sure if your like me the risk seems so huge and it takes time to get past that. Home will always be where your heart is.
I was so pleased to read that hubby is doing well and that your daughter has made some progress for now. I know it won't be linear with her but hang on to all those linear stretches when they happen.
Thinking of you. Sending hugs 💜🤗

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi @Former-Member

You would be great working in the area of mental health. With your life experience, knowledge, perseverance and compassion you will help so many. You will land that job when you are ready my friend - have no doubt!!

I do hope I feel like you do when I move house. A peaceful environment for me is very important for my long term well being (long story). At the moment the vendor is asking too much for his property and no one else has put in a higher offer than us. But we won't meet what he wants (way over market value - this happens with water front properties a lot). So it's a waiting game. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

It is important to know that someone we trust is nearby in case of an emergency. This was vital for me when healing and still is today. No one can really do it alone I feel, regardless of how strong. We all need help at times. So glad your best friend is nearby.

I feel my daughter will get there one day and she will then realise what she put us through and feel sorry. Sometimes I could strangle her, but other times I feel for her so much and the darkness she battles. We all know the pain that incurs.

I am so happy for you @Former-Member. You will feel the stress at times as your workload and responsibilities are huge (I can relate), but I also know you will succeed as you have the will, the heart and what it takes. Hugs 💕🌹

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

hello @TheVorticon & all others

have to agree with the latest whimsical term of "mindfulness"

every time I find myself on the verge of saying that I have to be mindful of I stop and change it to something else.

have same feelings about "embrace, collaborate even awareness jars the list goes on" corporation jargon

I prefer I am noticing or picking up on old fashioned but real.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

hello @Former-Member & all

your children will have ambivalent feelings no different to your own

the love will always be there

what is a more capable mum? gosh I would have failed from day 1

do you mean the american dream?

mum is mum regardless of differences

we mums who have long term symptoms of a mental illness are so self-judgemental, so harsh on ourselves.

I can tell you from reading your words, reading between the lines, feeling the sheer enormity of your love you are the best mum they could have because they are yours and you are their's.

I just need to read what I have told you and try to believe in the very same myself

sending you love Teej, you spread so much yourself

you are doing so well am proud of you my friend xxxx

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

wise words @Former-Member need to do some of that thinking too... but its hard.

Just wondering if anyone has seen my motivation anywhere.. been missing for a while, not really sure what it looks like... would offer a reward of sharing it if its found.. Its probably under a rock somewhere or digging a tunnel through to china.

If you find my motivation could you check if hope is there with it please.

i have so much to do and cant seem to get going on anything.

thanks

lj
