A hard day

A hard day

Just found out a friend's son was tragically taken from us yesterday. I won't put details here but it seems like it was a hit and run. I lost another friend a few years ago in similar circumstances.

Absolutely heartbroken 💔

Re: A hard day

I went to my happy place this morning (bunnings lol) and have been working all afternoon on the floor in front of the old fireplace (which I rebuilt years ago). I have cut the bricks, replaced the frame and am nearly ready to put in the floorboard edging and concrete base @creative_writer So it has been a very productive day. I think after seeing my friend yesterday it really helped. I still do not want to go back to work Monday but I have a few days to get organised and ready to do so. Have to do some cleaning up when I finish though as there is red brick dust everywhere ....even Toby is an orange colour hahaha ...so he will have to have a bath when I finish. No point doing it tonight as he will just roll around on the floor before I can wash it.

How has your day been Hon? Did you get some sleep last night? How is your neck etc?

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 sounds like a very productive day. I think people often underestimate the power of social connection.

Pets will be pets. They love rolling over and going where they are not mean to. We had a tinny kitty visit us today, she was so adorable, exploring our backyard.

I didn’t get enough sleep, but I’m less agitated today. I’m very exhausted and drained. Neck isn’t too bad

Re: A hard day

Awww a kitty visit - how lovely 🐱 Bugger about the sleep Hon. I certainly know what it is like to not be able to sleep. On the positive side - less agitation and neck is not too bad 👍

I finished cutting all the framing but need to sand it back tomorrow by a couple of mm in the front. That is the problem with an old uneven floor. Once I have done that and installed I can lay the concrete to put the bricks on. I have bought rapid set concrete so it will make the job quicker. I will still need to leave it for a couple of days to completely cure but there is no rush. The biggest problem is that it is Toby's favourite place to roll around after his night time zoomies but seeing as he has been following me all day I suspect he is too tired tonight to do zoomies 🤪

Still a lot of cleaning up to do but no point until it is all done so I am going to begin a little school work tonight, finish what I can of the hearth tomorrow morning then give the house a good clean tomorrow afternoon. I have to go into work to get my flu shot at 3pm and get my principal to sign my leave forms so I will clean outside first and then the inside after I get home.

Do you have any plans for tonight or tomorrow @creative_writer ?

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 I feel a bit numb right now.

I love pet zoomies. They’re so adorable. The little kitty was doing them today. We are initially afraid that she ran away so my mum informed the neighbours. She is a naughty one but they’re letting her out now to explore. She did run away a while back, but they found her after two days. I think back then they were only letting her out with supervision since she was so young.

Cleaning does keep you busy, I wish I could do more of it, but my hands have been so sensitive lately. They get swollen so easily and I’m not even sure why. The tests came back normal.

I don’t have many plans for tonight and I think I’ll take tomorrow easily, my head feels heavy

Often Toby and Clover do zoomies together @creative_writer More like Clover baits Toby and then he chases her. Her escape is to jump on one of the dining room chairs where Toby can't get then she pounces on him and it starts again. I just laugh 😁

Clover has never even tried to get out of the yard. I even made her a couple of shelves up on the fence but she just sits and watches the world go by. It is the only place she jumps or climbs. She has never even tried to get up on anything else. I am very lucky.

Sorry about your hands Hon. That is depilitating for you 😢 Do gloves help or do they add to the problem?

Just spoke to my Mum and sister. I have been putting off calling Mum this week - sent a couple of messages but told her I would call tonight. She then asked me to call my sister as she was worried about me. All good - told them both it has been a hard week and the time off has helped.

More head massaging tonight then Hon. Definitely take it easy. Hugs and hugs 🥰

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 pets are hilarious and so cute. Their kitten is truly something, she is small but loves exploring. Though she is a bit timid, but she’s still small. Today was the first time I saw her. My mum recognised her from her photo immediately.

I probably should try wearing those compression gloves. I’m not sure what I can do, apart from physio.

I think sometimes we do need space, but sometimes that space can be worrying for those who love us. They do sound with supportive of you 💖.

I feel like many people will be surprised to know how much relief can come from head massage. Obviously it doesn’t cure migraines and other headaches, but it can relax the muscles, nerves and blood vessels

Re: A hard day

I have definitely needed space @creative_writer I do like my space generally - even at school I spend breaks away from everyone.People in general frustrate me ...kids are different though.

I think it is time to head to bed Hon. Hope you sleep better. Good night❤️

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 I think some of us do need those breaks from people. I know I certainly need some downtime. It gives you space to reflect, which can be a good thing.

Goodnight, I hope you have a chill and restful night 💖
