Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

I read in the posts from last night that you did that @MissGremlin it's an amazing thing to do. Fireworks are so scary for animals and afterwards there are always posts and people looking for their lost fur babies.

I'll share something with you - I am still here too. If I hadn't of landed a new job for 2026, and if my new landlords hadn't of extended my lease, I wouldn't have been. We are both still here, on January 1st 2026!

Re: Battles

@NightFury yes fireworks are definitely scary for alot of animals. Thankfully my area wasn't too busy with lost pets but I did help to catch 2 doggies last night. We still continue this morning and today as often alot of owners don't realise until late that there dog/s are missing, there's also alot of people find wandering dogs so we scan them for chips and help to get them home by contacting the owners.

I am so glad that you are still here too. I know it was stressful facing not having a job and accommodation but I'm so glad both of those things worked out for you. We both made it to 2026, go us! ☺️

Yep! Go us! @MissGremlin

It sounds like such an important job - re-uniting lost and scared doggas with their humans. Luna would be petrified if she was lost.

She's escaped once. We were at my uncle's shack and she was still very young. She took off after a Kangaroo and the lead snapped. She disappeared into the bush, but within seconds she realised that Mum wasn't with her and she came back. It was terrifying. My housemate in QLD used to threaten to let her out. It's a real fear of mine that one day I'll lose her.

So I am glad that there are people, like you, who do the important work of helping lost doggas find their way home.

@NightFury I have only ever had one of my doggies go missing, she was my rescue girl. Thing is i didn't even know she had gotten out until the vet rang me to say they had my dog and I'm like what which one they are all here (i had 3 at the time). Anyway she was thankfully safe and i still have no idea how she got out but I'm so glad someone found her and took her to the vets.

Oh that would have been scary but I'm so glad she came back. I relate to that fear sweet, my ex when we were together and even now when he comes to do my lawns he would say that he would let them out to go play on the road 😞. Cos of losing my last girl when she was only 3 in 2024, I'm petrified of something happening to Casper.

I'm glad I can help with getting animals home safely, it gives me a purpose ☺️.

Re: Battles

Luna and I are now both safe from the person we used to live with @MissGremlin even if I have to remind myself of that every now and then.

Luna is settled and happy and is able to relax here.

Re: Battles

I am glad you are both still here @MissGremlin @NightFury 😊. If someone had asked me 6 months if I would be, I would not have known if I would have been either. If it were not for my hope for the PAT clinical trial and the financial support of my mother in me taking a year off work, I don't think I would be either. It is a hard thing to sit with and think about; it always brings tear to my eyes with mixed feelings still about my decision to try this year (I'm also safe).

I am glad Luna returned to you when she realised @NightFury . My mum's old dog did not - we had to hunt her down which took an hour to find her, with 2 of us running around barefoot and one person in a car. The problem was that the one of us who found her had run out of the house without their phone (or their underwear 😂, PJ pants and tee only) so they could not let us know when or where they found her lol. However she was found safe and was enjoying her escapade and did not want to be put back on lead and taken home!! She ran into someones garage to explore, which eventually enabled the person to corral her lol. She was a lovely friendly dog -- and wanted to meet everyone which is why she would not return when recalled. 😅. I worry my 2 dogs would also be like this, especially the younger one -- both have some recall (one used to be really good, but now is less obedient) but if they see something they want more... they will ignore it.

Hello @AlwaysMyself, look at us go making it to the new year ☺️. I'm so happy you are here and i love chatting to you. I'm so glad that you are taking the year off work and I'm hoping that this year brings some really positive changes for you ❤️. I hear you sweet with those mixed feelings and the tears, I'm emotional today over it and there's sort of a part of me that's feeling angry at myself for still being here (I'm safe). I'm having Casper snuggles while I'm laying in bed, he's laying across me to keep me grounded.

Re: Battles

I hope that angry part of you can stay within its safe limits @MissGremlin . It's OK to have these mixed feelings, even though they are uncomfortable and can be scary at times. As long as we do not act on these feelings. I really hope this year can provide us all with the opportunities to address the root causes of our feeling, to find a sustainable way to live and slowly replace these desires for non-survival with a genuine desire to live. 😊.
