Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

Hello sweet @Appleblossom, sleep interruptions suck.

She's a child's python, so not very big. She's a bit over a year old now ☺️

Checking in @MissGremlin, think of you often, was walking past a shop today and saw a stitch pic on a mug, I thought of you. There have been a lot of reminders of forum members pop up during this time.
How’s your colouring going? The pics you have posted have been amazing 🙏

Re: Battles

@Chasingsunsets I'm struggling so much and it's only getting worse (I'm safe). I'm trying so hard to fight this, to find a way through but when you are so worn down, finding the strength is impossible. I appreciate you checking in and it feels nice to know that I'm thought about. I finished a picture last night but I haven't shared it here yet. I began another tonight but I've struggled to focus and I have tears at the moment.

My doctor referred me to a service and they contacted me but the lady that rang wasn't good at speaking English which made it hard to communicate and be understood. She made a time to ring the next day but when she did i panicked, I couldn't cope with the language barrier while trying to talk about what's going on. She finally rang again today, I was out so I said I'd ring back later. I worked up the courage to call and I spoke to someone else and said that I would like to speak to someone different and explained the situation, they had to pass the information on to higher up and said that someone would call me back. So later I got a phone call but now I feel like I'm being punished for requesting a change in worker, I was meant to be getting help through the suicide prevention program but no, now I don't get that and now I have to wait until the new year sometime to get support. I wanted to tell her exactly what I was thinking and what I feel is going to happen but I couldn't, I was scared to, I didn't feel comfortable enough to open up to a complete stranger.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to go into all this, it just kind of came rushing out.

Again as I said I'm safe, I'm doing what I can to keep going, I'm just exhausted.

Re: Battles

hi @MissGremlin

thanks so much for reaching out and sharing your story of perseverance, it is still so important that you get the support you need and sometimes that means pausing and trying again.

Be kind to yourself and stay connected 🙂

Re: Battles

Firstly, thank you for sharing, @MissGremlin .

You were very courageous and strong to ring back and explain your need for speaking to someone else. I am so.proud of you! You did the right thing there, as you need someone you can understand on the phone. I also sometimes have trouble hearing things clearly on a phone.

I am very sorry you feel they are punishing you by not getting the support you were referred for and for being delayed a few more weeks. I really am sorry for this, and it makes me sad and righteous-angry that this happened to you when you really really need the support and are trying so hard to get support to help keep you alive. I have felt this way a year ago when i tried to find supports and was unable to be referred to any. I also really wanted to tell them that it made me want to do things that were unsafe.

I wonder what would happen if you did call back (or a trusted friend on your behalf? I wonder if a Mod is allowed to do this via email support permission??) to explain to the service just how serious this situation is and that you do need urgent support as an outpatient. It could be a safe way to reinforce how serious it is (without having to say exactly what you feel like doing which might end up as involuntary).

Hello @Mindee, I am trying so hard to get the support I need but it's frustrating when you hit brick walls constantly.

Thankyou for the reminder to be kind to myself, I often forget that.

Hope you are having a good night.
