Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Oh Casper @MissGremlin

Luna's had a long day home alone today.

When I moved to QLD in 2023, I rehomed three of my four pets and took Luna with me. I got to catch up with my friend who adopted my other dog. She shared stories about how the dog was doing and showed me photos...

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin totally get the frustration and irritation hun, mine often culminates in me asking myself 'Why am I like this?'

I think the answer is just... 'Because I am a traumatised human living in a world that makes it very difficult to be a traumatised human.' You're not a failure for reverting to behaviours that have been coded into your nervous system as survival needs.

Hope you can find a way to show yourself a bit of compassion tonight, even if it's as simple as a sweet treat or cuddles with Casper 💜

Re: Battles

@NightFury Casper finally decided to join me on the bed. Came up for a kiss then snuggled up next to me ❤️.

Awww that would have been so nice to hear about how the dog was doing and getting to see photos. It's funny you say that cos today I got a phone call from a council about the dog I had to re-home last year, they needed to confirm that I was ok for the new owners to transfer ownership over. It is nice to know that she has found her forever home though, she is a beautiful girl just wasn't the right fit for me.

Re: Battles

@Jynx yes i very much ask myself that question all the time.

Thankyou for saying that, it felt validating to hear it.

I am sitting in my bed with my music playing, I had my iced coffee, Casper is next to me and I have my colouring in front of me but I haven't done any yet.

Of course @MissGremlin any time 😊

Aww cuties cuddled up together! Give him some belly scritches from me?

And remember - there's power in your breath, it's something we can always return to for grounding and soothing. Hopefully the colouring bug bites soon hehe 😋

Re: Battles

@Jynx Casper gets all the belly scritches hehe. I'll be sure to give him extra from you ☺️.

I'm sitting here dissociating, going into a world of my own 😂. Think the lack of sleep from last night is starting to hit. Breath, breathing, right that requires focus, nope no focus happening here 😂. Sigh my brain is not braining. Alright let's do some colouring while the music is playing.

Hope you have a good night, catch you next time. Thankyou for the hugs and the chat ❤️.

Re: Battles

@Jynx i know you've finished for the night. I just found out that someone i know has passed away (taken their life), they were only 17. I've known them since they were a young child. We celebrated Christmas times together cos they were family. There's a strong connection and it's hitting me hard right now 😞. I just wanted to share this with someone cos I don't have anyone. I'm trying to process it but my brain is just like no it can't be true, it just can't be.

Re: Battles

I'm so sorry for your loss @MissGremlin - someone passing unexpectedly is always painful but can be especially so when they are so young. We can hear that they are someone that you saw grow up and you have a lot of meaningful memories together. It sounds like you only just found out this news so being in shock and feeling like you are still processing this is valid. Please be gentle with yourself while you start to process this. I'm sure @Jynx and the other members of the forum will be here to listen if you need to talk or just to sit with you through this. Grief can look different for everyone and can also often be not at all how we expect it to look, so I want to encourage you to not put pressure on yourself for your grief to look any kind of way, but if you come to a place where you feel ready and comfortable - there is some info available on Grief Australia about grieving around the holiday period. Take care and be gentle with yourself Dreamy

Re: Battles

Thankyou @NightHedgehog, yes I only just found out earlier tonight just before I made the post. It's just come as such a shock and processing it feels impossible right now. I'm running on less than 3 hours of sleep from last night or rather early this morning. I'm just feeling so many things at once and it's hard to make sense of it all. I've been sitting here trying to do my colouring until I can hopefully fall asleep.

Re: Battles

Wow trying to figure out all these feelings on hardly any sleep is incredibly hard @MissGremlin - hopefully the colouring will be peaceful enough to help some of your emotions become less tangled so you fall can asleep tonight. Thinking sleepy thoughts for you 😴
