Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

I can see that you are trying really hard @MissGremlin , and all credit to you for doing well at being recovery-oriented ⭐️

I also learned that being recovery-oriented and the language we use influence how we feel. So if you talk positively or are at least working towards it, then we tend to feel more empowered in our recovery journey. And it's hard to make changes as the overwhelming feelings feel like a warm blanket, and it's familiar. So we are reluctant to get out from under it and fearful of the unknown.

It's not that you are doing anything wrong, it's all just really hard. I believe we all have it within ourselves to recover and live life the way we want. We all are individuals with different resources, serivces and supports available to us. And we can all find our way on the recovery path in our own time. You are the expert in your own MH and life and you know what is going to work for you. Not me or anyone else!

I'm still on the recovery path and my journey is still continuing and I think it will be for the rest of my life.

Thanks @RiverSeal. I'll try to reply to this a bit after. At the moment I'm feeling very dizzy and sick and just want to try and rest for a bit and hope the feeling passes.

Re: Battles

Hey @MissGremlin

@@I was hoping you'd mange to get a bit more sleep, but seems like it didn't go that way for you. I just wanted to say that you're not doing anything wrong, you're doing all you can. It's made harder with limited support and resources, but even with those it takes time. I know I'll struggle with a lot of things for the rest of my life, but it's about slowly learning to cope with them. It just takes time and a lot of experimentation and some support. The support bit can be out of our control a lot of the time, even a little bit can go a long way. I know we'd all love thing to improve far more quickly, but that's what makes it hard unfortunately. We can all support each other here, and we all know that we're all works in progress, we just need to each keep plugging away, even when it feels too hard. And let's face it, if life has tought us anything, or made us good at anything... It's how to keep plugging.away when it feels too hard.. Just like I need to be reminded of this a lot of the time, I'm doing the same for you. I can say it's going to be easy, but I can say you're not completely alone in trying.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin I'm watching Sullivan's Crossing.

It's set in Nova Scotia, Canda and I would really like to go there one day. It looks beautiful.

Re: Battles

@MJG017 I've even tried to nap today with no success and I've been trying since 6am.

Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed, exhausted and frustrated that I just want to give up and throw in the towel. I'm not even sure how there's still a part of me that's fighting at the moment given how things are right now. But it's there even if it's very, very small, it's still there.

I ventured out of bed and I have things I need to do but I'm not sure if I can manage them.
