Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

Oh I'm sorry to hear that @MissGremlin. Quite a few people seem to say that

Re: Battles

@Till23 yeah unfortunately they seem to be really lacking in a bit of proper training.

Re: Battles

I think like all MH services they are overstretched @MissGremlin because MH is so badly funded - it really needs to change.

Re: Battles

Yes very true @Till23. I think peer support work and those with lived experiences though are the best when it comes to supporting people with mental health issues. The crisis lines just don't seem to be able to make that same connection with people, rather they follow by a text book and alot of it is repeating what you just said to them back to you which i find so frustrating.

Re: Battles

Yes, @MissGremlin all the lines have a script they use. Some of it is medicolegal, because if certain things aren't said they can be open to legal action. It's more complex than people realise. Many people on the crisis lines, do have lived experience, that's why they do it. But, like everything there is variation in how people interact.

Re: Battles

eek i know right, that sound is definitely in my top 50 sounds i hate @MissGremlin

sucks to hear about the crisis line. i've had some really great chats with crisis lines, where it felt human, and then i've had a few 'robotic' vibed ones. i always wonder if the robotic ones are people who are still training or something. either way, i can hear how frustrating it can be getting those ones. i know you've given feedback before, and hopefully with the more they receive, the sooner change can occur to improve things (fingers crossed tightly!!!)

i gotta hop off, take care and good night!! 💙 @Till23 @MissGremlin

Re: Battles

@Till23 yeah I can understand the legal side of it cos of the type of service they provide. It's just really hard then you are in a crisis situation and you are completely let down and left worse than when you started.

Yes, I should get off too @rav3n

Re: Battles

@rav3n Im with you there with certain sounds.

Yeah I've had those few very positive ones but I've had alot of negative ones aswell. I hate when you get that kind of robotic experience. I do try to leave feedback but sometimes I'm just not in the right space to do so.

Night night, thanks for the chat ❤️

Re: Battles

Oh yeah @MissGremlin, I completely understand that. It's so disappointing when you try to do something to help yourself and it turns out not to be as helpful as you hoped or needed. I have had less than helpful conversation myself. It's really hard isn't it. Do you feel any more settled now
