Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

Thankyou @Jynx, I appreciate it ❤️.

I've just been triggered by fireworks going off here, so time to see if I can bring myself out of the flashbacks that it's brought on. I'm safe and trying hard to do my diamond art while I've got a hand on Casper, feeling his soft fur and him breathing.

Re: Battles

You got this @MissGremlin - maybe you can do some of the grounding exercises you shared with Captain earlier 😊

Rest well chook! (っᵔ◡ᵔ)っ 💜

@Jynx that's what I've been trying to do and I've connected with a crisis service to help get through it safely.

Hope you have a good night ❤️

Re: Battles

I'm feeling so disheartened right now though I know it takes time for any medications to work. But I had only just dozed off before waking up to a completely horrific nightmare. It's playing out over and over again and it's making me feel physically sick, the panic is so intense and I'm struggling to calm myself down.

I'm safe for now and I'm waiting to get through to a crisis service while I'm snuggled up with Casper. Just feeling scared and didn't want to sit alone while I'm waiting.

Re: Battles

Thanks for reaching out to the forums @MissGremlin so you are not alone while waiting to get through to some crisis support tonight

It sounds overwhelming what you experienced with the nightmare and panic response - and appreciate you reaching out given that is not always easy

Hopefully you are able to get the needed support tonight - and I'm sure you're aware that 000 is there also if needing any emergency support

Sincerely midmat25

Re: Battles

@midmat25 thankyou for your reply. I did manage to doze back off but I was just awoken to an ambulance on my doorstep. They've now left but are calling mental health triage to let them know of my situation so that if I choose to contact them they will have a bit of history about what's been going on. They know I can't go into hospital so it makes it hard to get support but I've been told by others that they can help by doing things via outpatient which I'm hoping might be an option for me.

Now to try to get back to sleep. Feeling very shaky and this medication that I started last night is definitely affecting my blood pressure as I couldn't stay standing to talk to the paramedics without feeling giddy and like i was going to pass out. Hopefully those feelings settle as I adjust to talking it. I'm safe and laying in bed with Casper.

Re: Battles

I waited for over an hour to connect to a crisis service to finally get connected and then after telling the person how I'm feeling and the thoughts I'm having, they ended the chat on me and now it's saying that it's unable to connect me 😞.

Things have been really hard today, I got so scared earlier when I was driving as I had a huge wave of thoughts come over me with such intensity and it was hard to not act on them. I managed to get myself home, I don't remember the rest of the drive though, it was all just a blur.

I need to find ways to cope in those moments, strategies that I can put in place when things are that intense. I'm finding those moments happening so often and when they do things go blank, like I can only focus on the thoughts/urges and it's hard to bring myself back into a safer space.

At the moment those thoughts/urges are there constantly, it's just the intensity that varies. Most of the time I'm able to distract myself from them by doing my crafts, cleaning, TV shows, music etc, but when they get intense then those distractions don't seem to work and I've found myself in risky situations or I SH to cope with things. I do my best to catch things before it gets to that dangerous point but often it happens so suddenly that I miss it. How do I learn to catch it before it gets so intense that I lose control and if it does get to that point how do I bring myself out of it safely?

I'm safe for the moment, sitting in bed doing diamond art and snuggling with Casper.
