Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

I've been putting off buying them for a while @MissGremlin but they were a need. I replace Luna's blanket every six months or so, I kept running out of towels now that it's winter and harder to get them dry and my pillow was nearly flat. Lol.

Re: Battles

@NightFury yes winter doesn't help when it comes to drying anything, if anything things get multiple washes if they're hung outside 😂. My pillow is ancient but I brought the same one to replace it and it's just not the same. So I use the new one to lean on when I'm doing my diamond art in bed so at least it's still getting used lol.

Re: Battles

Yeah, and I don't have a dryer @MissGremlin so things stay on the line for a week. Lol.

Well, it sounds like it's come in handy anyway.

Re: Battles

@NightFury oh that makes it tough. I use my dryer all the time as I don't like hanging things outside.

Yes it's good that it's getting used.

Hi @MissGremlin,

I’m really sorry for the late reply from your previous response the other day, I’ve been away for a few days.

I’m also sorry you’re going through such a frightening night, especially when the dreams involve people you care about.

From what you’ve described, it sounds like you’ve been working really hard to get through this moment, slowing your breathing, trying grounding exercises, staying connected with Casper, and reaching out to a crisis service. Even though it may not feel like it right now, those are important steps.

I’m glad you’ve let us know that you’re safe. The feelings of panic, fear, and disconnection you’re describing can be really distressing to experience, and it makes sense that you’re feeling scared by them.

If at any point you feel unable to keep yourself safe, have severe difficulty breathing, lose consciousness, or feel like you need urgent medical assistance, please call 000 or seek emergency support.

Have you gotten through to the crisis service yet? We're here with you 💮

Hello @Nala2022, it's completely ok. I hope you've been doing well?

Re: Battles

I’ve been well, thank you for asking @MissGremlin

I’m sorry to hear that, it can be so frightening and overwhelming when experiencing nightmares or waking up in a panic.

I’m glad you’ve been able to connect with a crisis service, even if it hasn’t felt helpful. You still deserve support in those moments, especially when things feel as frightening and overwhelming as this.

Because of how strong things are feeling right now, I do want to gently encourage you to reach out again to a crisis service, even a different one or emergency support if things escalate or feel unmanageable, including calling 000 if you feel you might act on those urges or feel unsafe.

For now, taking things slowly like you’ve said, just focusing on breakfast, coffee, and staying close to Casper, sounds like a really grounded next step.

Are you able to let someone in your life know how intense things are feeling today as well, so you’re not holding this on your own?

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin Of course, sleep disruption can really take a toll, especially when it’s happening so frequently.

Yeah, I can understand that it can feel really unpredictable when calling a crisis service, and you never quite know what kind of response you’re going to get. I’m glad you’re still trying, especially when past experiences haven’t always felt supportive. It can feel painful when you don’t feel heard.

I’m sorry about the coffee changing too, that doesn’t sound silly at all. It’s something you enjoy and were relying on, and when small comforts like that change unexpectedly, it can feel like another thing being taken away, especially when you’re already under so much stress.

It’s really good you have at least one local person and your online friend, even if things feel complicated there. It might be okay to let your local friend know a little more about how things are going, if that ever feels right for you, people often care more than we expect, even if they don’t always know how to respond. And you deserve support and care just as much as anyone else.

I’m glad you’ve got Casper with you while things feel this heavy. I hope you’re able to get through to the crisis service soon, and that you get the support you need today
