Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

I'm glad no one gives you a list of chores at home @outlander - but yes - you certainly do for that -

I am an accountant so I did the same stuff everyday and for some obscure reason I enjoyed approving accounts for payment which was interesting for me and I did that for three years

But at home - I guess for so long - like decades - I have been in charge of the house I lived in - either I do it or I do not - today - not much but I did tidy this place last night and it looked a lot better when I got up - maybe it still will if I don't drop anything - um -

I walked up to the shops - I do find I take weight of my right knee with the crutches but the shop and back with a few things I need including eggs to make the cookies was enough - now I like being at home without the weight on my knee - ah - I have done my exercises and taken a walk and got the eggs

A clothesline full of clothes - oh yes - there is a lot of pressure to bring those in if it looks like rain

I think I will be here for a while

Hi @Shaz51

Yes - I can well imagine what you might find in someone else's house - ah yes - and it gives me the creeps

I have had people here - now this is a clean place - I have people vaccuuming here and washing the floors and detailing the bathroom etc and I keep it clean for the week until someone comes back to do it again

But - the story - no and again someone comes to me and says "I just found something weird ...........wherever - and I already know - it's not a dead mouse - it's a toy mouse that has had its furry fur patches destroyed - Companion Cat is a natural hunter and although she has retired from the live mice around here - the toy mouse get the works when she cracker-cats - and I wonder if she will ever grow out of that

I get the horrors about other people's places though - I hear a lot from the workers that some here - mmm

@Owlunar. An 8 out of 10 - that's great.
I'd say I'm a 6 out of 10 today. Feeling okay but a bit bored, a bit restless, but no motivation to do anything to change it.

No rain here @Shaz51. We might get storm clouds, but mostly they bypass us. Still the grass grows green and lush.

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Owlunarits the silent and well known expectation that doesnt need a list. Thats the problem. Thats what im trying to change.
Hmm im not crash hot on maths but I was pretty good at it through school. I dont sue much of those skills now though.

At least its only you to care for at home not others too.
Im glad your time out, I hope you enjoyed baking too if you got to doing that today?
Please take care, we dont want you getting injured from trying to fo too much with crutches. I know you love and need your inpendece but you have to take care of yourself too.

It didnt rain o ive been lucky, will have to check the clothes soon though.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @outlander

It's the silent and well known expectation that doesn't need a list. That's the problem. That's what I'm trying to change

That's profound - you have certainly said it better than I have been saying.

It's true that I only have myself and Companion Cat to care for - and this is now and has been for a long time now - but burned into my memory is the time when I had a seriously unhappy little boy whose behaviour was unpredictable and chaotic and a little girl who was failing to thrive and it was constant work caring for her - it had been my choice to have children though and I was their mother so that makes the difference - unfortunately their Dad was dead weight and that was more than I wanted to carry

So I do know what it's like waking up in the morning with too much to do and the unexpected always happening - I get it really - your situation is different but I think alike in the chaos I was living in

It made a huge difference when I went back to school when they were old enough for me to do so - I had a life of my own and we all need that

Yours isn't your choice and that's the thing - but no one wants broken nights that run into days and nights again and then another day - sometimes without sleep having been awake all night with a sick child -

I understand

For some strange reason the form keeps shifting in a very annoying way so I will finish -

I remember the day when my priest told me it was up to me to change things and I did - but I was much older and I had a sense of self - I lived at home the the 7 years I went to school on the other side of the city then worked in the city and had other things away from home - but I was away most of the time

Life at home was horrible and my bro and did things away from home - commitments like night school - that our mother could not stop - but we were often lumbered with our little sister on weekends -

So yes - there are enough things that are similar for me to know how difficult though I can never know what you are feeling except what you tell us

I haven't done the cookies yet - I bought some - taking the easy way - but I feel better since I saw my doctor today

All the best Outlander

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi all

Somehow it got to be

again - how did this happen -

The week is half-over

I rang the physio and told his secretary I wasn't coming back but I would do the exercises but hah!!! - in telling a couple of people I didn't like the physio I saw learned that others didn't like him either - and I didn't rat on him - I was told -

So I gave my knee a rest over the weekend and yesterday caught up my housework and went to sleep - it was a pretty warm day and I left my dinner dishes in the sink and when I woke up there were ants - and they are really taking a long roundabout trip to find their way to the sink and there's not that many - and I am getting into the nests in the backyard and getting rid of them

Oh yeah - I got a horrible looking spider as well - I put a plastic container over it and sprayed under it - that was last night - I have to look and see if it's dead yet - I don't mind spiders much but these black house spiders are venemous

So this is good - and today my place looks tidy and my clothes that don't get ironed are in my cupboard where I can find them and so I feel a lot better today - or this week really - than I have for a few weeks

And I am still wondering why I let that physio upset me so much and I think it's because he ordered knee surgery as if I didn't have a choice and I teared up and felt wretch and he had an easy target

So - I have lost track of the forum but I can catch up - I have a hair-dressers appointment today - that's good and I want to go and get my phone checked - maybe replaced - I think it has a virus or maybe I dropped it once too often - and I need new sneakers - worn them down with all my walking on concrete - and I love doing that - walking gets me out into the fresh air and enjoying the exercise

Okay - my good friends - I hopw everyone is as well as they can be - this is life - all we can do is live it

Re: Life can be a Pain

it sure is wednesday @Owlunar

oh wow so the physio isnt a great one even before you said anything. Ive had that happen before and was grateful it was just my experience with someone it was others too.

Errr spiders! Nope I dont like spiders one bit I like to use the whole spray on one spider just to make sure its dead.

Im glad your feeling better today and this week. Youve had it rough the past few weeks with your knee as well so im glad your ok.

I think it was the initial shock that made you so upset, you felt it was the end of th line and didnt have a choice in the matter. As I said before and you agreed to it wouldve meant a loss of independence during recover and for a while after that too. Its not a n easy or a quick fix, lots of rehab and resting too.

Hoping you get to the shops and things today and enjoy the fresh air

Hi @outlander

Yes - from the day I had the MRI and saw my doctor and got the dx straight away really knocked me sideways - it really was a ball coming at me from out of left-field - and hey - I had sorted stuff out with my doctor and he doesn't want me to have anything done

And the physio was out of line - I wanted to ask him about a brace but never got to that - he was in full-flown lecture mode - and yes - from time to time I had a lecture from my father so - right - I did not want to argue with Dad - so I was back in my early life before I realised I knew more about him regarding some issues

And I do know better than that physio about my own body - I am just so amazed I let him do that because I don't normally allow this to happen - I can't be hard to get on with when I need to be

Spiders - this one was is called a black house spider and then around my front door I sometimes get orb spiders which take constant sweeping and spraying - but I don't mind the occassional huntsman but not in my bedroom - they get put outside and my cat thinks they are for her to play with and gets annoyed when I put the hunsman outside

I got out yesterday - I went to the shops and got my hair cut - I need to get my phone checked out - I think it has a virus and I also need new shoes - it's raining today -

So I am clearing my data need to back up what's left and I am having trouble concentrating so I will get back to you
