Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @lapses

This is the post I thought I had lost and I hope this copy is okay

I am glad you value my insight - I never want to push things but I do know it is hard for you to get away from your family - you care after all - as I did - but I was still pushed away

I really feel for you with that - glad my turn is over but still regret my mother - not from my point of view but rather from what she suffered yet she seemed to want me to stay away and I respected her choice

But yeah - I might not totally understand what you feel but I have had my own stuff

I am so glad you have a sense of inner peace about selling your house - there are so many memories there that you will never forget but being somewhere else means you are less likely to be reminded all the time - and you are getting rid of the clutter of decades I guess - fine to live there with a family but that time is over

But you are still left with finding another place to live - with whatever you get for your current home it seems a good idea to move nearer the city - but not too near - I like the infrastructure myself but then there is the suburban wilderness - I heard it described on TV recently as the suburban splat - I get that.

Wow - I found Sydney to be a much more crowded city that Melbourne - no daylight between the buildings in the CBD - the buildings in Melbourne are better spaced - and Sydney is bigger than Melbourne - but then I know Melbourne and used to drive everywhere here - not now - they have put ring-roads and tunnels in since i was driving

But I guess if you move nearer Sydney but not actually in it you are nearer your familly - and if you have a caravan you can tow it and move around if you feel that way inclined. A twelve hour drive to check on your family is a big commitment and costs a lot - so much to be considered -

I feel better today - better than I have for days - I do not like long week-ends and this past one was harder - I didn't feel physically well most of the time - I slept a lot - aw - I found that too much - a useless public holiday, the supermarket being crowded, the pain and then this morning I realised I haven't spoken to anyone but the cat since Thursday - which is okay - and then having the clocks go forward - too much actually

Yes - I do like being the brown bird with the caring eyes because I do care - I care about a lot of people and a lot of things - I am happy enough in myself I guess - I need to build up the walking with my crutches and get away again - but I have a lot of work to put in first and I can be hard on myself - I somehow don't think the airlines would be too happy about me taking crutches on the plane but I can get the train to Lakes Entrance - I was planning to go there in a few weeks - I like to walk and walk and walk and I do that here -

Yes - of course - I did not walk much at all this weekend - too much pain - but I feel better today - and it is just about time for breakfast - ah - morning coffee

And the stain in my carpet - I did my best with that yesterday - I get the carpet steam cleaned every so often and I need to let my case worker know that I have this problem with my knee - maybe they will let me have the steam cleaners in sooner - I have been missing some core hours lately so I have space left in my package

Look after yourself before making commitments that are hard on you - I know - you care - I understand that

Hi @Former-Member@Shaz51@Faith-and-Hope

Thanks for those pics @Former-Member - they only came through after I got home yesterday - and they are great - yes - we have enough worries today to add to tomorrow's - I saw my doctor yesterday and told him I do not want to have an operation and he is quite okay with that. I only need half of the knee replaced at this stage and I asked him what people did before knee replacements were done - he said people lived with it and super great answer - I can live with it - my spine is inoperaple and I have lived with this for well over 20 years - we can lived with whatever it is

And Lapses special chicken soup - great idea - I could use that - in fact I feel desperate for someone to come and cook me some - I am tired today

I was so stressed out for days and now I have seen my doctor again I am really tired and I had to get up early because I had 9.00am domestic help and I was not ready to get up - I could shower and I guess I will shower but I have no desire to prepare anything more complex than an egg on toast and I might just have that for lunch -

It's amazing how stressed I can get sometimes because mostly I let stuff pass me by - I don't get upset being on my own for days - I notice at the end of it - but I will have to get out of this chair soon because my battery is flat

We have the hard-rubbish collection today - the lady who came to do the domestic work took some items out for me - it's amazing how we can accumulate stuff - not clutter - just stuff - I found a box with my some of my writing in it - now that is not going out - at least until I have read it

Enough griping - I will have to move and when I do I will keep going and get something to eat - good start

So I am determined to beat the sore knee if I have to walk on crutches for a while - they are my old friends - they are both called Merlin because I can't tell them apart -

Re: Life can be a Pain

Oh dear - today I have been really washed out from all the stress I had for the last fews days - I have been tired and I have had a splitting headache which didn't go away with a nap this afternoon

Although I often do not feel like eating - let alone cooking - when I have been asleep during the afternoon I have made myself a casserole with salmon, peas, corn, rice and cheese and it's in the over right now

I am determined to beat the knee problem - but I guess there will be days when I have to take it easy

Tomorrow morning I have the guy coming to assess me for the Federal Aged Care Package - the place is clean but untidy - there are a few chores I hope to do tonight - but really - I don't think running around getting this place immaculate is a priority right now

It seems I will be awake for the discussion tonight - and my son had BPD - however I don't think it's appropriate to join - after all - I had to live with it when he was alive - but not now and not for a long time

So that's a miss - and it has been warm today so I should bring my washing in

Back later

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Shaz51, hope you've picked up today? Good to see you 💜🐦💜🐦💜

@Owlunar, sorry you're washed out, with headaches. So please he kind to yourself 😮 are you drinking enough water? Taking Omega3's. Salmon is good.

Good effort ✔ making a casserole with salmon, peas, corn, rice and cheese, wow! hope it tastes yum.

Hope tomorrows meeting for Aged Care Package goes well. - nothing wrong with "lean but untidy" - you live there!

Is tonight Tues discussion? Lol, on BPD? Oh, missed that 😕 I understand you wanting to close the door on that topic. Too many potential unhelpful emotional triggers and u have enough on your plate dealing with present moment matters. Good job being self aware and self-caring 👍💜

You do your own washing? Good job!

Rest tonight, maybe get up early. Be thinking of you. Hugzz 💜🐦💜🐦💜

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Shaz51@outlander@Former-Member

It's Thursday again - how did this happen - and they advertised clear skies - I thought that was weird when I saw how heavy the clouds were when I got up early - and I brought my washing in - and thought - now the skies will clear up but guess what - it's raining

Melbourne weather - ah yeah - but just wait around and it will change

Anyway - very busy week - and I had the Federal Aged Care Package interview yesterday and still no one can set my mind at ease about this - I ask the same questions - will I get the same package and how much extra will I pay for it and there is answer to that yet - but the guy who came here could see that I was in pain when I moved about so this worked in my favour as did my knee problem

And I made up my mind to put up with my knee for the time being - I went out for a while with my crutches yesterday - I am so glad I own these and don't have to fuss buying or hiring - easier all around.

I asked my doctor on Monday - "What did people do before there were knee-transplants?" his answer - "People just had to put up with it" My reply - "What a good idea - let's put up with it for the time being"

Of course if I was is in the public system that would be different - the waiting list for orthopaedic surgery is so long when I tore my shoulder tendons a few years ago they healed up by the time I had waitied a year for surgery - I didn't like that surgeon either - my choice - let's leave well enough alone

I have much the same attitude now

So I had domestic help Tuesday - Aged Care Package yesterday - domestic today - shopping tomorrow and then the weekend again - days on end alone and then days on end with stuff happening - how glad I am to have the continuity of this forum - always someone about

All the best today Outlander - I read your whole thread - life is sure working against you but we are here for you we care for you

Time for a shower I think
