Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Do you do dialysis -- No not yet @Former-Member, trying to keep it away fom that as lonnnnggg as i can xoxoxo

how are you tonight my friend

@Shaz51@Former-Member

Wow Shaz - yes - I would like to keep away from something like dialysis for as long as possible also - I understand that - and last I heard your single, lonely, hardworking kidney is still functioning - I guess it has to work extra hard and you have other health issues as well - I am thinking of you

Lapses - I haven't got your message in front of me right now but I think I heard you are on antibioticss for a cough - not good - do you have wattle growing around where you live - I do and had itchy eyes before I went to Sydney - no itchy eyes in Sydney - back in Melbourne and more itchy eyes - ah - them's allergies - not fun - but I hope whatever it is gets better. Coughing is such hard work and wears one down

Or is it dust from all the stuff you have been moving to de-clutter? - but questions - questions - ah - you need solutions - solutions

I went to the supermarket with my crutches on Thursday - it was a useless public holiday here yesterday - after all people like football - I will grant that but who needs a public holiday for a street parade - really bad idea.

So me and a helper who was good and the supermarket being extra crowded on Thursday with school kids loose there did not give me the chance to get used to the crutches gently - oh my knee is not too bad but my back has to get used to all of this and yesterday I spent time going through my recorded docos ands movies and sorted out and deleted which is not a waste of time but it felt like it - I really didn't have anything to offer

This is going to be a knee-spine generated physical pain complaints department - gotta get there - decided to save what cartilege I have left in my knee and continue to wonder how it got so bad without me noticing

I think my pain specialist would agree with my decision so far - but no decision is so deeply set in concrete I can't change it -

Enough enough - yesterday was the pits and I have chores to catch up with - plenty of food in my fridge - lots of salad and the rest of the cook chook - I did not need a public holiday yesterday - it has just served to make the weekend longer for me which I do not find exciting

Hi @Shaz51 💜💕

Hi @Owlunar, yes, I have had this cough for weeks, of cause, being asthmatic & having had a cold - they can't look past that diagnosis. Se be it. Just exhausting. Think its a combnation of dust, dry winds, stress and cold. But hey, you and I have survived worse Owl Sister 💜💕

How's your knee? I was wondering if TaiChi could help you? The physio would know and I here's DVDs if you can't join a group 🙂 But a group would be social ☺

What! a public holiday for a street parade! Missed opportunity for local trade, but maybe they're sipose to participate lol

School kids loose at the shop is a major hazard for you, yikes! Might be safer in one of those electric scooters. My dad hires one for free.

Good on you tidying up documentary collection! I have so many here to do2

A " knee-spine generated physical pain complaints department ". Is fine with me. Not as bad as you of cause but so inspired by you. Keep going👍💜💕 Good your pain specialist can agree with your wishes so far, hope you don't need extra analgesia.

Thinking of you Dec💜💕

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Former-Member

Cold, asthma, cough-cough-cough - exhausting - I know - yes - we have both survived worse I am sure

My knee feels better today than it has for a while - but my back is complaining about the crutches - and I walked so far and so long with them before - I just went out intending to walk around the block but about 100 yards up the street and I turned around and walked back with my spine screeching

Luckily I left it until it was nearly dark - I am stuffed now and feel as if I have to lie on the bed for a while - I ate the rest of my chook and had a salad for a late lunch and an afternoon tea/early tea - whichever and if I go to sleep - well and good

Yes - I am detemined to beat this thing but I can make life hard for myself at times - I tend to push things - I was always competitive - too clever for myself really - I was once told by a specialist that I tend to rush at things like a bull at a gate with the same amount of thought and energy - which means a lot of running and not a lot of thinking

Sheesh - I am tired now. I will win though

Not Tai Chi - I tried that once - I am too competitive - I didn't enjoy it either - but I will see a physiotherapist - I could pay to see one locally or go to the pain clinic and see one for free - I would rather see the local one - I think I have plenty of medicare visits free this year - sure of it

I take arthritis medication which is supposed to build up cartilege or protect what we have - I have been taking it for years though - it certainly helps the pain in my hands

Orthopaedic problems - yes I have lots of them and I know this devil - this is the one I prefer - just because I know it.

No electric scooter - I won't use any aids before it's necessary - my mother was walking perfectly well and they gave her and A-Frame and she was dependent on it straight away - crutches demand a lot of work and I will build my shoulders up - but yes - starting at the supermarket on the day before a public holiday with the kids on school holidays was pretty rough - it was crowded and I was walked into by someone not looking where she was going - she came fast from behind me - I yelled at her and at least got some of my righteous anger out of my system before it got worse and with kids it did - but she was the only person who walked into me

It's a time before I see my pain specialist but if things get tough I will go and see her - ah but she is used to dealing with older people who are a bit lost somehow and I am not - I can be a bit of a problem for her but she does support me mostly

I have to go and lie down on my bed for a bit - feeling totalled

I still don't know who one the football - actually I thought the match was yesterday - ah - no wonder my phone wouldn't tell me who won yesterday -

Yeah - a public holiday for a street parade - that has to be ridiculous - it actually stuffs my week around in a bit way - as do school holidays.

Gotta lie down

Back later

Re: Life can be a Pain

I like that pic @Former-Member -thanks so much

I have a headache today so for a few minutes I am reading some posts rather than bother my sight with the screen

So which bird am I? - not really the one facing away from the others because I care about everyone

Mmnnn - yes - I am the brown one with their eyes wide open looking at the bird next to it - dunno what to say - feel so tired

Okay - I think you are in Queensland and I live in Victoria - and I was not feeling great yesterday and the last thing I wanted to hear was that we have to put our clocks an hour earlier today - for daylight saving

Actually I would mind having the clocks earlier for the whole year - and then when they had the Olympic Games in Sydney I think - they put the clocks foreward really early - I forget how early but that made the mornings really dark -

Anyway - I do like daylight saving but I really feel strange for a week or so when this happens - and today - bad news with a headache that could get worse

AND - I was careless enough to spill my coffee on the carpet - I will have to fix that next week - I think there is some carpet shampoo for spot cleaning

How are you today? Is your cough clearing up - or is it doing really well by exhausting you

Take care with it - I hope everything works well for you

Any news on the procrastinating agent? I am waiting to hear - and yes - you won't have a mortgage to pay but whatever and wherever - what did you say a while back - it's pitiful that you can have what seems to be a lot of money but it is still hard to find a place to live

So true - what was once a fortune is now peanuts - sorry about that

Catch up later - I am just leaving a few messages before I have something light for lunch and maybe doze in front of the TV - noisy neighbours today - there are days when we need to make our own noise

However - the good news - I have an extra hour of daylight after dinner to go out and walk with my crutches - I will beat this thing with my knee - which feels okay today

All the best Lapses

Hiya @Owlunar, glad ya like that bird pic, yes, I think you're the brown one too, with the caring eyes ☺🐦💜

Sorry you have headaches, maybe a good sleep, lots of water 4U.

I am in Qld and no daylight saving here. I never liked having to get up for work so early that it was still dark, not right!

Oh no, spilled coffee on the carpet - might I suggest you get a wet handtowel onto that ASAP, stand on it to soak it up before it stains.

My cough has eased this last day - probably the new high dose prednisone, I am tired but also on edge, agitated and can't sleep... a side effect of the asthma meds combined the pharmacist said. Thanks for asking. I'm breathless walking to the letterbox. Sciatica playing up today too, all part of life... I had an interesting conversation with my parents today which I posted about on the 'Clutter Thread' if you want to comment on when ya not so tired. Always value your insights 😉

Yes, i had a promising buyer come through Thurs&againFriday - waiting on an offer $

I have an inner peace about the whole selling up thing. Might be the up-dose of antidepressants but just less anxious this time round. Think it will all work out ok, really feel spiritually guided - its nice 💜

Did you take that walk (on crutches 😞 and all) for the extra hour daylight after dinner? Must be hard, glad tbe knee feels a little better - but don't you over to it now 💜💕
