Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @utopia

Yes - I do understand the reasons for those questions but if any of this was the case - and they have to ask the questions to tick all the boxes but still

I have a package they know about - the one I should not still be on and if I was violent or whatever - they would already know and there would not be anyone coming here because of my bad behaviour.

And my cat loves people - she is gorgeous and friendly and wants to see the visitors - so loving - but putting her in the bathroom for the duration isn't on either - that's where I put her - with her water and the litter tray - if I need to stop her bad behaviour - so it's stay asleep in the bedroom puss and if she starts scrathing and meowing she will have to go outside.

I feel really sensitive about those questions though

And @Former-Member@Shaz51@outlander@Faith-and-Hope

I have had my MRI and I am so rattled - I can hardly believe there is so much damage there - how did I not feel severe pain until recently? - on the inside of my knee I am walking with bone on bone - the meniscus is worn clear through and there is a torn piece on the extruding between the leg bones - there is also damage on the outside and under the knee cap - wow!! - How did this happen?

I have spoken the Life Line and I feel better than I did - but still shaken up - one thing is to have a knee replacement but I am not ready for that yet - I would need to be in more pain - I would have to have my knee folding on me so there are choices. I could bandage my knee at night but my doctor agrees - my tibial plateau - the top of the bone in the front of my lower leg - is unusually wide and this will cause circulation problems - and I am seriously allergic to most anti-inflamatories

But - I can have stem-cell surgery - the nurse at my clinic told me that when I was there this afternoon - I would have to see a surgeon about that - I don't think that's a quick fix but I seems it's important to maintain the cartilege I still have.

It goes on and I and I feel as if I am rattling - I already eat well and take the right kind of suppliments for arthritis -

Aw sheesh - I feel so shaken up - this is so sudden - I had no idea things were so bad there - and I walk a long way - and yes - taking my crutches out for a walk is something I have decided upon

I feel really unsteady tonight

Dec - wiping the dust of my crutches

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Owlunar. You may have been with that service for a long time - but obviously your file didn't contain this piece of paper with these questions. They shouldn't have a problem with a cat though.
Sorry to hear your knee is so damaged.
Would a knee replacement now be better - heal better - than a knee replacement a few years down the track?

Re: Life can be a Pain

You already do help @outlander - feeling as if I am watching over you feels like a good deal to me - I check the forum on my phone every so often so I feel I know a bit of what has been happening when I do post

@utopia

I'm already "older" - I am prepared to last out the rest of my life without more operations - I have had so many in my life that I couldn't fit them all into the space on the form when I was at the imaging clinic

Aw........ the pits -

I am really half-cracked because of the shock - but as for getting the knee replacement down now - I am prepared to go through the rehab but being off my feet for so long would seriously weaken my back and I work really hard to keep active - I don't want to give that up - or my independence - even for a short time

Because of my age I am not a good surgical option - I already live with pain everyday and take less medicaiton than I used to but it's still more than most people - I have had a clot in my lung before this and wow - it's not exactly something I want to do - I halluncinate under the GA - last time I had an epidural and I was aware of the operation but the sedation was fantastic - I could enjoy that again but the thought of the long term recovery after a joint replacement - no - there is something there I can't face -

There are other things too - I like to be alone - overnight in hosptial is one thing - being in rehab for however long scares me - I fear the lack of control - my decisions need to be mine

I am a bit of a mess - let's see how it goes - I am so rattled I am not in a good head-space right now but I feel determined to maintain my independence

But thanks

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks again @utopia

I rang Life Line again and we talk about my daughter for a long time - she used to be so prickly but with small steps she is maturing and more interested in what I have to say

So this is something I need to discuss with her - she is a very sensible woman - and for now I have decided not to have the operation - just choosing not to for now.

I have private insurance so getting into hospital won't be an issue - and first I will look into stem cell therapy - this might be a better way to go

And deciding not to make up my mind right now is a decision - I feel so much better than I did earlier this evening and I am going to make myself comfortable and watch a movie for a while and hope I drop off to sleep - and wake up and go to bed at the end of the movie

Re: Life can be a Pain

Oh @Dec, your knee sure sounds like a mess, a lifetime of 'wear and tear' Poor you! 😞 💮💮💮. At least now you know what you're up against.

Its up to you of cause - but if it were me, at your age - i'd have the knee replacement asap, before they decide you're too old. My motherinlaw had bilateral knee replacements in her 80s and got active again well into her 90s. But pray about it, you'll know what's best. Feel for you Dec💜

What do you have planned for today? Hope you can somehow think about other more pleasant things for a while. We need that. Maybe try some mindfulness grounding, to settle your mind (which sounds in hyperdrive atm), maybe tackle a forgotten project, or something new.

As for me, haha, think I'm gonna have to strangle Mr Procrastinator (within) to get something done here lol. Have another potential buyer viewing this arvo. At least I'm up early 🎉lol. Might start with emptying the vacuum cleaner 😕

Be gentle with yourself Dec, hugzz 💜💕

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Owlunar - you have made the decision that is right for you, right now. And it would be good to find out more about the stem cell treatment. It's amazing what doctors can do now.
I hope you had a good sleep - in your bed.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @utopia@outlander@Former-Member

I feel okay this morning - I did go to sleep in my own bed - and during the time I had a long doco running I kept getting up and fixing stuff during the ad breaks - so yes - by the time I went to bed I had got this place tidy - and had more ants - not an army - just an ant-school excursion - they sure are making an effort to find something I can't - if I knew what it was I would get rid of it along with the ants

My knee is a disaster - I think the shock of finding out it was that bad was what sent me for a spin. I had the feeling that I was going to have someone say "Aw - there's not much happening here - why did you think you need an MRI - but alas - it was the opposite - oh yes - a life time of wear and tear

Ah alas - time is passing so I will have to get back about this - I have a domestic helper here atm and we have to go shopping as well

Dec - and thanks everyone
