Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Oh boy - old age is more than just a number - my joints are wearing out

My right knee has had two arthroscopies - one back in the early 90s and the other in 2011 - and it's started caving on me again

I have seen my doctor about it - I don't want to have anyone poking around under my skin again but yeah - this knee gave me a hard time yesterday and it's a bother

I think it's the medial ligament - seeing as twice before I have had the medial ligament sutured I think I know the feeling but still I did look at Doctor Google again - and yeah - it certainly looks like it feels or feels like it looks

But I used heat last night and spent most of the bed on the couch with the heat on my knee - I ran a bunch of David Attenborough recordings and slept off and on - and today it feels more steady

My mind doesn't feel this old and tired but my body has different ideas - okay - I did a lot of sport when I was young and two things

It caused damage to my joints and

I am pretty healthy otherwise

That's enough for now - I am getting chores done today I didn't do yesterday and I slept a long time when I did go to bed

And - the weather is so nice and warm - welll windy and warm - I have turned my heaters off and the cat is so mournful and sorrowful about this - how nasty am I when she wants to spend the nights curled around the oil heater in the bedroom - soaking up the heat to let go in the middle of summer

Get used to it cat - winter only seems to last forever

And Companion Cat is sending best thoughts to @Adge also - and Minxy

Re: Life can be a Pain

I can just imagine what your cat is thinking @Owlunar - & they are not nice words. Like when I turn the heater off in the lounge at night. My dogs carry on as if I'm the cruelest person on the planet. Lol.
Sorry to hear about your knee.
I broke the bottom of my leg over 2 years ago - but it's the damage to the ligaments / muscles in my foot that are still causing me so much discomfort and pain. The leg - the break healed in 6 weeks - no problems since. But the foot!!! Ahhh different story.
I'm glad the rest and the heat pack helped. I use an ice pack on mine. It feels hot under the skin & in summer it swells and turns red with the heat. Thank god for frozen peas. Lol

YOU'RE A TROOPER @Owlunar 🙏

Aches & pains - not fun! Your poor knee 😞 Does any of those creams help you? Is it raining there? Just before rain hits me. I don't know what more to say really 💜

Bit cranky with myself today for not going into work (shop volly) - not feeling good. At the same time its good to know theres still three staff there without me (not like my saturdays). She didn't answer my msg letting her know i wasn't feeling well enough to come (makes me think she doesn't care when I'm by myself here, feeling a bit anxious), should I ring instead?.

About 1030, 11 was pruning in the garden for about 1/2hr and started feeling faint. I pushed myself, then everything started going yellow, my arms were too heavy so I raced to the chair put my head between my legs but it didn't help - I had to lay down, i raced to the couch, my heart was racing. Fell asleep for a bit but still felt crook just before my shift was due to start so tx in saying I fainted & not well but might drop in later. Then i slept. Just had a late lunch - toast. Don't know what it is but I have developed a dry cough so might be coming down with something - hope I can do Saturday shift. So hard to know how far to push myself. Do you think I'm a sook?

Gonna go grab a cuppa, want one? ☕☕ and heres one for u too @utopia hello 🙏

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @utopia@Former-Member

My knee has felt better today but we are in for some weather tonight - it has been warm and windy today but it's chilly now and I can smell rain

So embarrassing - I went outside to see if I could hear thunder and a couple were outside chatting and wanted to see my lovely cat so I came in and got her and took her out to them and realised I didn't have my upper partial in - I tried not to smile and kept my face in my cat's fur - and they were so friendly I ended up smiling and felt really twisty - it's no shame to lose teeth and no shame to leave them out in the privacy of our own home

I feel silly

Lapses - I do not think you are a wimp because you stayed home after a bad turn - that was wise - I don't know why every turned yellow but I have lost my colour reception when I have had severe asthma - I have a story but don't need to tell it - but maybe I will check on Dr. Google for you - but I might not tell you what I learn.

I am seriously allergic to most anti-inflamatories so I don't use those but vicks - yes that one works but I found the heat enough - ice can help too - I must put my ice-pack into the freezer in case I need it again.

I forget what else was said - I'll have to look again

But yes Utopia - our animals really think they are in charge - I often wonder what on earth my small nearly 14 year old cat thinks - she is so small and has such a loud meow and she thinks she the boss - I guess I do obey her a lot - mostly opening the door - to let the cat in - to let the cat out - to let the cat in - and so on - it can be annoying but I love the cat - she wants the heaters back on again though - aw she loves the heaters - she has a adoration for the heaters

btw - last night I went to sleep on the couch just inside the front door - and the breeze blew in and it was so pleasant - it got cold around 4.00am when I finally went to bed but I was so comfortable with the recordings running on the TV - I slept quite a bit

But that won't happen tonight - it's warm enough inside and I washed my good sweaters out by hand today and they are dry enough to finish off indoors - it feels stormy

And Lapses - I love that pic of an owl with an improvised helmet - and age-wise - you both get it

I feel like Time's Target at times - darn - grey hair, partial dentures - elderly joints - dry and archaic tendons - time is passing

AW - getting ancient

Re: Life can be a Pain

Nothing we all won't go through Dec, or most of us. Glad the knee a bit better, interesting timing with ? storm on the way.

That's funny about your dentures & visitors, don't worry about it. This must be super adorable cat 🙂 My front teeth are fractured so spent a fortune having them capped, otherwise I'd never smile again. Didn't realise how vain vein vane I was, well.

I like the helmet trooper owl too, you inspire me.

Thanks for support re too sick to work. The boss just tx me they waited for me to go to lunch. Then she tx back - hope you can do Saturday still? Is it too hard to wish me a 'get well? I don't think she believes me. Think the fainting was that i'm coming down with something. Coughing a lot, tears, asthma & runny nose. Maybe an allergy from gardening? Tomorrow will tell 😷😧

You have a busy day Fridays. Hope it goes well. Oh, you be careful falling.asleep in a breeze, don't want u coming down with something 💜💕

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Former-Member

You're, your, yaw, yore, okay about feelng vein, vain, vane about your teeth- I certainly am - it's actually something I recently thought of - I have had so much more confidence since I had my latest partial with minor, miner imperfections - they look every natural - I am glad you have had your teeth capped - I bet it made you, ewe feel better

I love the word game - perhaps we need a new knew thread - it could be fun. What do you think?

The knee - ah yes - it is a problem - I keep things to myself because I don't like having things done but my doctor has ordered an MRI - it seems I have strained my knee at some time recently - and maybe torn the cartilage - oh what fun

Your, you're, yore, yaw boss - ah - cough and sneeze like made if you can't make it tomorrow - complain of a bad cold - but more likely you have hayfever - the yellow scene before your eyes might be a discharge from the irritation or whatever happens - from irritated eyes - I can imagine this because I get very bleary eyes in the morning since the wattle has been blooming - maybe this is it.

Aw - what does it matter if your boss doesn't believe her - I know you care and your volly work is important - but she does sound a little narky at times. I love you - I think you are a wonderfully sensitive person

Busy Friday - always up earlier than I would like - domestic work, shopping then doctor - all went well - and I believe it's school holidays - ah kids will be everywhere

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hiya high hi hello @Owlunar, you sound chopper. Thanks for reply (though it didn't tag to email), had to come looking. You encourage me, thanks.

I'm myserable today, Dr today says my lungs sound terrible & prescribed extra puffer & tablets for acute asthma (guidelines dont allow me to say what they are). Didnt prescribe antibiotic's 'till i get temp etc he said. Guess what, I have a temp of 38° tonight (medical centres closed till Monday now). Sit it out. You get asthma I think u said, so know u understand. My BP was up too 170/100 he said. Already on 2pills for that - not working. Must start walking again

Its hard with asthma, reminds me of my girl, all the things I over looked, feels like I don't deserve to heal. Retrospect can be cruel. You get that too.

My son just rang which went well. He had his cast changed and slight adjustment as fracture had moved. But the cast looks better (sent me a pic), fibreglass - they have colours of their choice now. Might attach later.

What's your plans for the w'end? Nothing much here. The boss is filling my shift tomorrow, so that's embarrassing. Better I'm not there coughing on all the customers.

Can I have a little whinge? Just realised the list of things getting me down.
- being sick, and alone and acbit scared
- concern for frail parents, difficulty mum
- son - no work, lives away alone, #arm
- gas ran out (no stove), can't afford the new regulation - gas compliance cert + a new cylinder. Grr
- hot water system running cold for 2days, washing out of a bucket, can't afford new one, but hopefully just a fuse blown - I'll check when I feel well enough to move the clutter I temporarily put in front of fuse box last week (big full 4drawer filing cabinet).

Is that enough to gripe about? LOL Not really griping, just acknowledging & wanting to be heard or something. I can get by without these things, just a bit 3rd world lol
