Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hey @Owlunar
I had a read of your post last night. But I didn't get a chance to reply properly yet.

I like when you said that life is too interesting and you wish to stick around for it. You wanna see how the show continues. It'd he like getting up half through a film and never knowing how it ended.
This is something I told my sister a few years back when she was suicidal. I said to her that her story doesn't end there. There's more.

I'm sorry to hear about the anniversary of your son. I said to someone here the other day, and it appears again now, that those we love never truly leave us.

When you say that these other things you mention are the way of the world. I couldn't agree more with you. I see this daily in my line of work.

I start with gratitude for where I am on earth. Then I start with gratitude for even being able to exercise choices. I'm glad for that. Lots don't have the freedom to make a choice. Respectfully of course, an old friend of mine presented a conundrum to me and I indicated that there wasn't really an issue with what he presented. He seemed confused between whether he should come to Aus for a visit or see his football team for free. On that same week I probably read about massacres in Nigeria, Uganda and plenty of other places. This world is unfair. It's harsh to hear. But I feel that those who accept this reality are compelled to be gracious for what they have. I mean this is my experience. I wouod never want to approach this topic with anyone else by assuming my personal experience is the same as someone else.

Introspection is good. I confess though, lately I have suffered from it. I've had moments where I wished I wasn't introspective. I eavesdropped on a conversation last night in my house because my room is opening out on to the living room.. my housemate and his bro along with their friend were talking about dating apps. I remember having those discussions quite well. I remember being enthralled in it. Wondering how it worked. Gloss over the fact that's how I met my partner now, but it feels good with her. May e that's all that matters. I've been sincere and honest from the start. Part of my introspection has meant that I've looked for flaws in myself and reasons she might leave or cheat. Lots of projection of internal insecurity going on. So I choose to work on the insecure and question it. Pose questions to it as if it were someone else. Reason within. Personify it.

That garden you tend to. I think you can plant roses in it. You get to plant whatver you want in it. So long as we don't let the birds and weeds take things away. Get a scarecrow if we must to scare the things away.

Just remember to only dig for the right reasons and not to turn the garden into a soil patch.

Take care friend

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks for your post @MDT

You have come such a long way since I first started reading your posts - I think you were still at university - feeling really geeky - not fitting in with the culture there - and so unhappy.

And you have lived several years and learned much - perhaps that other people are not always what they could be if they were more introspective - there's nothing at all wrong with self-exanimating as long as we are not too hard on ourselves.

Yes - my son's story stopped 37 years ago tomorrow - and as the years have passed it has seemed worse because of his First Nations Status where story and country are vital - he never lived long enough to know all of that - he definitely missed the end of the movie. Such a sadness that - something I feel for him.

For me - I know the world's story will go on without me - but I will be there for the rest of mine. That's so important. Those roses - I do have two standard rose bushes outside my bedroom window - each spring and summer I get glorious flushes of flowers and these plants have survived drought and storms - and flourished during good weather - amazing - yes - with my son they are part of my inner garden.

Lots of people live without choice - the people in Ukraine right now - and many Russians I am sure are just as constrained. The other things you mentioned - and then the people who are the children of parents from different cultures - maybe they choose to live with their culture or choose to break from it - both hard paths - roads less travelled - and life does go on.

Great post Hams and great to hear from you - I have to take a break from my computer now - and what a bleak day in Melbourne - raining again -

Melbourne weather - if we don't like it we can wait a few minutes and it will be different

All the best

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi everyone

This is just a quick note to let you know I am okay.

I have had a lot of pain during this cold weather - also - a lot of medical appointments and now I have support workers from the council in - so life has been busy.

Tomorrow, I see the oral surgeon - I will be having new technology to prepare the geography of my mouth for the surgery - no gunk in the mouth for impressions this time.

My typing is really terrible tonight - I guess just getting by lately has been enough - I can take challenges though
