Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hey @Owlunar Not great here but much like you, not wanting to go into too much. Dad is really not good and we are all really worried. He has been waiting for the latest test results and I am hoping they came today and I just have not been told yet (that is quite likely as I am usually the last to know what is going on). My sister was crying yesterday and I went to give her a hug and she didn't want one - that kinda hurt but I have let it go. I know she is with my parents a lot and she is so worried (about both of them as Mum is not great either) but there is only so much I can do living much further away.

Hi @Oaktree

I'm not having any pain with my dental issues - at least - not yet - I am just finding it hard to chew some food - but I'm managing and waiting until the middle of August is okay - it's giving me time to sort my head out about my phobias.

I am sorry you have had toothache - and I am guessing you had it out today - which would not be high on anyone's list of fun ways to fill a Monday - I hope it settles quickly - and about the pain pills making you itchy - it can happen - I hope this is all sorted by now.

And it's a good idea to remember the name of the medication so you never have it again - I have an idea what the tablets were actually - and so remembering what they were is a really good idea.

I am thinking of you - loving the thought of your garden - and enjoying mine - my gardener did a great job tidying it up and I really appreciate that.

I have a self-sown tea-tree growing in the same pot as a large jade and these two bushes are growing around each other in a most affectionate way - I must take a photo of it and post it - I already have one from a couple of years back but the jade is growing and I love it - I really do

Sending my best thoughts

I'll take the virtual hug @Zoe7 and send a bear hug back - some people don't like to be affectionate or comforted in a physical way - I do though.

At family funerals - or birthday parties - my sister-in-law give each other bear hugs - wow - it feels so good,

I know how tough it is when our parents are not well - and I guess most people have to go through this time - it would be good if families could be supportive at such times - and maybe your sister is doing the best she can which doesn't help you a lot. I know the pain - been there - it's really hard to know what to think and how to feel at these times - all the "what-if's" go through our minds and have a will of their own - so I get it - I do - I really do.

Sending more love and hugs and Mumma Bear attributes - in which I am well endowed - how blessed am I?

Hi Mumma Bear @Owlunar

This morning I wasn’t feeling any pain so I canceled the dental appointment. By this afternoon however the pain had returned. I guess I will have to go to the dentist after I get back from my trip.

I am going down south tomorrow until Thursday. We will be going on a whale watching tour. I hope we will see some.

It’s lovely that your garden is doing so well. I have my first cucumbers growing. My son and his girlfriend came for dinner last Thursday. I fed them fish and chips. I just had a piece of fish with salad. The salad was made from lettuce that I had grown myself. I was pretty proud of my accomplishment.

Sending massive hugs back Mumma Bear. We are the lucky ones to have you in our lives and our hearts @Owlunar ❤️❤️❤️ Off to bed here. Been tired all day (even falling in and out of sleep at work this morning but luckily the kids did not know as they were working so well). Realised this evening I had taken my night meds this morning so no wonder I was so tired lol

Re: Life can be a Pain

I had a little bit of a giggle at your taking your night medication in the morning @Zoe7 - no wonder you were drowsy all day - I hope you get a good night's sleep.

I get a lot out of writing here - and I have done more tonight that I thought I would - I will be off to bed myself fairly soon - though I did sleep though the first episode of Star Trek Voyager twice - obviously it was gripping.

All the best

Hi @Oaktree

I hope you see the whales - that would be something absolutely fantastic - I had a trip planned once but it was cancelled because of inclement weather.

But - I did see a mother whale with her calf when I was flying over the Great Barrier Reef on my way into Cairns - 2019 - and I could hardly believe my eyes - that was a great moment and I was really lucky.

I really wish you the best with that tooth - I will be thinking about that - toothache is so achy! - not good - let's hope you have the best trip though

All the best again

Re: Life can be a Pain

I am okay atm @EternalFlower and in spite of the icy weather I am pretty cosy - I do have insulation here and reverse cycle A/C - but I still feel cold sometimes.

I'm sorry you don't - the first two winters I live here I didn't have either of those comforts - and it was so cold here I would get up in the morning and do morning chores and rug up on the couch watching movies all day and do my evening chores and then go to bed - and this is no way to live - but yes - I get it how hard it is to be warm without sufficient health and safety standards. They can be hard to get though.

When I was growing up all we had was an open fire - and we could be so hot there we could feel overheated and move away and we froze - I guess we never thought about it then - and after all - post WW2 there were few choices and fuel was often short.

I love technology - I enjoy temperature control and the infrastructure of a big city. I guess I am in the right place

All the best

Re: Life can be a Pain

Had a much better day (without night meds in the morning lol) @Owlunar I am getting grumpy with the kids though so this term cannot end quick enough ....we are all tired but we do not finish until the end of next week.

Still no results for Dad but I did talk to him today and he said he had a much better day yesterday - not great today however. Apparently the specialist could not give him the results and he had to see his GP (who already referred him to the specialist). Such a run around and completely ridiculous - what is the point of referring him when the tests could have been done quicker through his GP in the first place. Just shows how broken the system is.

I hope you have had some light in your day Mumma Bear ❤️❤️❤️

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Zoe7

Life has been tough with you this term - and I get it - getting grumpy with the kids is pretty normal - I am somebody's mother after all and I know how stressed out I would get at times - life and children are great tests of our patience - I am glad your holidays are just a few days away.

Oh wow - the broken medical system - and why can the specialist not give your father the results of the tests? - how frustrating - perhaps the GP knows your father better - I like to know everything and I would be pinning the specialist down - after all - we pay them. This is something that is forgotten in the medical world I think. Tough for you too. More stress.

I had a special Xray today to see if I have enough bone in my jaw for implants - maybe I will need a graft - it didn't hurt and it's totally covered by Medicare so yes - there was a bright point in my day. And I enjoyed the trip in and out of the city - so much hasn't changed since I used to drive around there all the time - and so much has changed. I enjoyed the day.

I know how much a child's head hitting ours can hurt - the circumstances were different - short story - my daughter used to choke a lot during sleep before she had her tonsils out - and she would thrash about as I tried to get her across my knees to pat her back to get the gunk out - one night she nearly dislocated my jaw with her skull - and didn't wake up. That impact would take some getting over when it's skull to skull. mm yes!

Take it easy for the next few days - I know people suggest that we do something nice for ourselves under such circumstances - however - what would that be. I guess being kind to ourselves is a start - and then - whatever food makes us feel happier.

Maybe enjoy some white chocolate on my behalf - it's a while since I had some of that myself

All the best
