Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Thanks @oceangirl

I have wonderful memories of my aunt - she was a lovely person - so kind and giving

She didn't like talking on the phone much but in person - she was a great conversationalist - I did see her as often as possible - living in different states meant air travel but we often met in Melbourne as well as Tassie -

My uncle has dementia - he doesn't know anyone now - if this COVID situation settles and I manage to get a set of RAT tests I will try and visit - even if he doesn't know me he will have a visitor. Dementia is a sad condition. My uncle was only a few years older than me and more like the big brother I never had - he will be missed too

Thank you for your thoughts

Thanks @Anastasia

I haven't been reading much in the forums so I didn't know your father needed palliative care - and bringing him home from hospital to die with his family is a hard but very loving call - not easy - I wish you the best with that

I will be thinking of you - I can't imagine how this will be for you -

I care

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Zoe7

I'm sorry to hear about your uncle - yes - you do know very much how I feel right now. It's not at all easy

And no funeral! - the funeral is for the living - not the dead - the dead don't need it living do - it's a necessary rites of passage to help people celebrate the deceased's life and move on.

Years ago some neighbours and I attended a funeral for one of our neighbours who died in a car crash - I had been speaking to this lady a short time before her untimely death and she was tired and had been working extra hours to pay of unavoidable debt - it was a shock

But the funeral was basic - no flowers, no music - it was just at the chapel at the Necropolis - and there was no gathering afterward.

My friends and I went an had coffee together afterward - I really get how had it must be not to have a funeral at all - cold is the word - mmm - I can't imagine it actually - really

I could go to Tasmania at the moment but I am not sure I want to expose myself to OVID by travelling by plane right now - I don't even know where the funeral will be - I tried to publish an on-line tribute this morning but because I have no proof of death I cannot - I have been checking the on-line site to see if anyone else is publishing anything but so far no one has - I think tomorrow I will bother my cousin who is in Tasmania right now to learn details to watch on ZOOM anyway -

I'm sorry about your uncle and not having a funeral - really sorry

I don't think I would want to travel right now either @Owlunar but to be able to view the funeral is one of those silver linings we have out of COVID. Please contact your cousin Hon - you need the information as to how, when and through whom the funeral will be so you can watch it. It would also be good for you to talk to someone in your family in person.

It is sad not having a funeral in any form - I can't really believe it myself but it is what it is. When my neighbour died they had the funeral and did not tell me - it was a private gathering and the organiser just forgot to invite me. I was quite upset but can also see that she had a lot on her mind and was grieving also so these things happen. They did have a small memorial at their school where he worked a few days later - and that I was invited to (that is when she apologised for not telling me about the funeral). She did ask me to go with her to scatter his ashes in his favourite place but never turned up on the day to pick me up as she said she would - that hurt even more.

I am just numb to it all Dec - there has been too much death and sooo much grief to deal with over the last 2 years. To be honest I do not know how I am still going but we do don't we - there is no choice. The alternative is not a place I am in anymore (but I have thought about it a lot over the last 6 months) then that would just add another level of grief to my family and I cannot do that to them. I have Tobes and Clover to think about and they do give me so much joy. It's hard though - you get that more than most right now - so sending you the biggest loving hug and understanding 💖💖💖
