Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Hi @BPDSurvivor @Zoe7 @Shaz51 @Former-Member @BlueBay

Chronic Pain Update

I'm very uncomfortable today - I had a bad start - managing to get some brekky down the wrong hole - doncha just hate it when that happens

So I coughed and coughed and survived that but the tissues I have in my bedroom are highly scented and usually I only use them to clean my glasses but today I inhaled that powerful perfume and started sneezing and this really hurt my spine and my shoulder - medication and a hot-wheat pack helped and I didn't get up until late but pain - ouchie - I am glad I can share this here because there is nowhere else I would feel free to do so

Anyway - I have decided to see an orthopaedic surgeon but I will have to wait because of the hold on elective surgery atm - and I will see if my pain special can do things with his magic needles - they have worked so well on my knee and lumbar spine. The reason people have replacement surgery is to stop the pain and increase movement and the injections into the shoulder will do that -

How did it get so bad - I asked myself that question all weekend and I remembered - for years I walked with crutches because of my spinal pain and I stopped after this pain specialist did injections into my spine - oh really - the twist of fate - and I have reduced my medication and increased the pain in my shoulder - how ironic this is

Whinging is not my favourite thing so this is my whinge and I think it will help to share it - and now I will shut up

And thanks everyone for admiring my plant - I love it too - and it is prettier on sunny days - it came over gloomy again this afternoon but it was sunny this morning

Back later peeps and thanks for being there

@Owlunar

Sorry about your shoulder news and pain. We get stoic with age, but still ...

I liked your vegemite cartoon quip!

I loved your pot plant from your boy memory. Yes it helps me to hear snippets and feelings, I have remembered bits about my sister and I both working at tax recently. Helps to connect about other things ... you will know about that stuff too ... being accountant and all that ...

Sorry I cant say much, but hearing you and feeling very glad we met on here.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Oh yes @Owlunar ... I agree that its awful, and a little frightening, when we inhale our food instead of swallowing it. 😱

And unfortunately I know all too well how all that coughing can affect a bad back. Especially I think, the lumbar spine. I know some of my worst periods of back pain, were caused from being ill with coughing and/or vomiting. Bed ridden and unable to move a muscle without going into painful spasms. That is so bad. I really hope you recover quickly from that exacerbation in pain levels.

You definitely have my understanding sympathy. Keep up the heat, with the wheat bag. It wont fix it, but it does usually ease things a little.. I have one too, and am very thankful to my stepdaughter who gave it to me years ago. A very thoughtful woman she is.

Its probably a good move to agree to see the orthopaedic surgeon. Best to know our options. Sounds like no definitive decision needs to be made for a time, so you wont to rush things. In the meantime ... fingers crossed your pain specialist can work his magic and give you some temporary relief.

Actually I think you are well within your rights to have a bit of a grizzle, or whinge. Im glad you felt that you could do so here.

I hope you are taking things easy, and feeling more comfortable tonight. I will catch you again tomorrow hopefully.
