Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi again @Zoe7

I am going to take a couple of ordinary OTC tablets for my headache and lie down for a bit soon - with a wheat pack or a cold pack behind my head - I need to be strict about that for myself actually - it's necessary therapy for my spine and I am doing well cutting back the medication so the natural things need to take a higher place in my day

Yes - I have a giggle about my life with me - I miss my old cat though - I know I am not likely to replace her at this stage because I want to travel again while I still can - having this crisis halt all that was not in my plans at all - and like many people I am chafing at the bit because of the limits. But being at home alone isn't one of them - and glad you enjoy my little spiel

I'm glad you have your animals though and I love hearing about them -

So - it's nearly 4.00 pm and time I took the OTC stuff and try to beat the headache - and here - with the various organisations I am in touch with it is impossible to miss the corona-news - the elderly are proteced with paper-info - I get something about it at least once a week

But we can ignore the paper

All the best with your headache - and take it easy today - all the best tomorrow

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Owlunar ... sorry to read that you're not feeling up to scratch today, or lately. Lets hope your appointment with the pain specialist goes ahead this week as scheduled.

I have continuing shoulder pain as well, which is pretty constant but does vary a little. I tore a tendon in the shoulder about 5 years ago, didnt seek treatment, and ended up with an extremely painful frozen shoulder. I ended up having cortisone injections followed by intensive physiotherapy, and it came pretty good. But these days it continues to be painful, especially some mornings when I can barely suffer the pain trying to move my arm. So yeah it can be quite debilitating. And then of course there is your back issues as well. That too I understand, although thankfully (touch wood) my back has been reasonable the past couple of months.

Oh dear, how unfortunate ... with your somewhat untimely awakening thanks to the gardener this morning. Yeah, just when you were not feeling well too. Feeling cranky ... hmmm ... cant say I blame you for that. I really hope the headache eases soon. Hopefully a better nights sleep tonight, and maybe a sleep in in the mornng.

I heard that there is to be a big cold change coming to our Southern States, even bringing snow in some parts. So make the most of your sunny Melbourne day today. It may not last for too long. Likely by the end of the week it will be almost wintery.

Take care @Owlunar and rest up.

Sherry 😊

I did think of your beautiful cat when I wrote about my fur babies @Owlunar It is so hard not having that company but knowing how much you want to travel and where you would like to go it would not be possible with another fur baby just yet so wait until you have done all that and then think about it again. I want to get another cat but it has to be the right cat and the right time. I really wanted the one my sister got and then for her to have his brother but the breeder wanted to keep one (there were only 2 in the litter) and she chose which one. I love the little terror that my sister got - apparently hge is a real handful yet the day I was there he slept on my knee the whole time - all my sister could do was shake her head and laugh because it was the complete opposite to what he is usually like. I did comment that maybe he should come home with me but my sister would not come at that lol He is already sleeping on the bed with their dog but also pounces on him too so a love - hate relationship developing there.

One of the hardest parts of this isolation for me is I am missing seeing this little putty tat growing up ...and of course missing my sister (but new cat wins lol). I love that kitten stage when they are so playful and their little characters develop. I still have Tobes for that - he wants to play every night and does his usual nightly crazy runs around the house ...it always makes me smile.

Cat is already asking for her dinner here ...she has to wait though - need to keep her routine and feeding times otherwise she will be up way before I need to be in the morning and that will not be good for me.

I hope the OTC meds and heat pack help Dec - headaches are horrible - I find them the hardest to deal with along with the pain from my IBS when it is really bad. My back pain feels insignificant when compared to IBS pain but I suspect your back pain in way worse than mine

Hugs and hugs Dec - hope that headache disappears quickly

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Former-Member

I am feeling better this evening - I had my dinner and now have plenty to watch on SBS, -

I know about torn tendon pain and I really feel for you going through that without seeking medical treatment which is something we can all do - when I tore the tendons in my right shoulder it took so long to see the surgeon in the public system I found they had healed by themselves - obviously the injury was not as serious as the tears in my left shoulder which needed two operations

But surgery or not - I think tendons tears remain painful as we grow older - I had an acromioplasty and that worked really well for years but now it's painful. I am not ready for joint replacement surgery - for the sheer inconvenience it will cause to my life

The weather is about to turn wintery - and it has been gloomy for some time - I hope spring is early this year - I would have like to go out and enjoy the weather but my headaches tend to be aggravated by the bright sunlight - pity that

I hope things are quiet for you this evening

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Zoe7

My headache did ease off with the OTC medication and the warm wheat pack and I think I dozed off for a power nap which was pleasant - and I am okay tonight. And so often I feel really well in the evenings after the mornings have been so tough - I don't know why

My cat was beautiful - of the many pets I have had through life she was the one I had the longest and she was totally my cat but everyone around here knew her and loved her

I'm not prepared to get another cat yet really - it's wouldn't be that cat - and time is short for me now and I haven't finished travelling - the current crisis stopping my flying around is an irritant - I will be glad when it is allowed again - even if it takes me time to trust virus-safety - I guess it's my major probems regarding the lock-down. It means I am better off that many people

But then - in spite of my daughter's concerns of being left with my cat when the time comes for me to have my natural departure I will get one. And leave instructions about what to do with it when that time comes - after all - I might live a long time yet

And it seems you were the person your sister's cat wanted - and a pity that the crisis has meant you can't see your little furry friend - and your sister - maybe this time will be over soon and we can visit our families again.

And in the future people will write stories and poems about this time and the great joke of the C21st will be the great toilet paper shortage. I can be satirical when it suits me.

I have been watching two of Michael Mosley's medical programmes and I learned something useful and very interesting. That the practice of injections local anaesthetic into injuries of soldiers and this causes the pain to be so well managed it is hope it will be used for knee replacements so the patient can go home after the surgery and doesn't have to stay in hospital for inadequate pain management - this is exciting news to me - I will be more inclined to have joint replacement surgery if I can go home the same day or the next day - I think I could say that with such effective pain management the patient would be able to move around more quickly. I shall be searching the internet to find out more about this

So - I have been watching educational TV and posting during the ad breaks - not many posts but lots of interesting information. Medicine is one of my true loves - I am frankly interested - that was my career of choice but I was not given that chance. Still - I have studied other things and my life has been successful

Thanks Zoe - I am turning the TV off and going to bed - it has been a most unusual day

Hi @outlander

It helped when I took a dose of OTC medication and stretched out on my bed with a warm wheat pack behind my head - I have had a very enjoyable evening watching educational TV - and learned very positive things watching Dr Michael Moseley on TV - I love medical programmes
