Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Appleblossom

I am okay - I had a couple of bad days with my troublesome shoulder and my memories - made tougher I think because of the gloomy weather - which I do not encourage - I wish I knew where to send the weather back to at times

But it's a much better day today - in many ways

On Tuesday I decided to take some medication for the shoulder - I felt too tired to fight it any longer and it was worse than it has been for a long time - and I went to sleep for hours and this has to be the best thing for most things - and the shoulder has been easier since though when I saw my doctor yesterday he did suggest I could take extra medication when things are that bad and let's see what the pain specialist can do - he might start with an MRI to see what can happen - what can be done

So I sort of sat in a heap for a long time yesterday - thinking - and my lot isn't bad compared to the past - bugger the coronavirus - it too will pass - and so did my uncomfortable mental state -

So yes - I am okay now

I hope you have a sunny day on your side of the bay - and I am wishing you the best and I am so glad you asked

Hi @Jo-anneJoy

Thanks for posting the link - I had a long think about the evening way back in my past to work out if that was the comet I saw and I don't think so - but it would be great to think it was

It was late at night and I think we were going to a late night Christmas Carol service - my mother was not a church goer but she liked Christmas - and my Gran was there too and my brother was in his pusher.

I must have been about 3 and a half that evening for my brother to still be in the pusher - that part of my memory is clear beause I always had to hang onto the pusher -

But it would be great it I saw the Thomson comet - maybe I can bend my memories enough to make that the truth - maybe - but hanging onto that pusher was something that was the Law Unto My Mother -

Thanks again

Glad your are doing better.

@Owlunar

The rain may have hit your side of the bay by now.

It helps me to get an idea how others cope. Its an aspect of the forum that has really helped me indirectly, as I started to put things in place for me.

Not sure what is causing your shoulder problem. Sometimes one more pain, is just too much.

I had a pulled muscle near left shoulder, which is responding well to my physio exercises, so that is good. Learning to tell the difference between good and bad pain. Pain that can be helped and pain that cant.

Take Care

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Appleblossom

I tore the tendons in my left shoulder badly when I swerved to avoid a collision when I was driving well over thirty years ago - I had an operation a few months after that and it wasn't successful - a few years later I had a very successful operation which removed bone - and I was pleased with this.

Over the last few years I have developed oseophytes and arthritis in the area and recenly I tried to exercise the shoulder but it was a no go area - I doubt it is a frozen shoulder - there is just no movement after a certain point in different actions - and the pain doesn't settle

It's bad pain - I did exercises years ago and did them faithfully and there was no sign of a frozen shoulder though there have been natural limitations I was warned to take care of

But the pain I had on Tuesday was bad pain - it seems to have eased off since my GP gave me some strong medication on Wednesday - he thinks an MRI would be a good idea - if I wait for the specialist to order that will be be covered by Medicare so I will be glad to see the specialist

Thanks Apple - we had some rain late yesterday - today though is sunshiney and beautiful - a day out of the box

@OwlunarGorgeous Bright Blue Sky.

Was out working in it this morning, but taking it easy now.

Once there has been surgery, it gets extra tricky. Def get MRI. My gp ordered an MRI for me last year and confirmed very bad neck. SO it was not all in my head and I was not making it up. Sigh and Relief.

Hang in there. We need you popping your head and shoulder in ... I will just have to be careful to put my head on your good shoulder. Sorry if I ever leant on the wrong side .... wry lol

Cheers

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Appleblossom @Shaz51 @Jo-anneJoy @outlander @Former-Member @Zoe7 @BlueBay @Faith-and-Hope

I haven't been feeling up to scratch yesterday and today - not with respiratory symtoms or feeling the isolation - much - just increased pain for whatever reason and I am really I am seeing the pain specialist this week - at least I hope he is seeing people.

Yes Apple - I do need an MRI and I will be glad to have that - my shoulder is very noisy actually - it clunks a lot - sometimes other people hear it - that's true

Anyway - yes - the fun started when I was sound asleep having a wonderful dream I can't remember when I was disturbed by the gardener moving the lawn right outside my bedroom - I have been trying to ease myself out of the shock of that ever since and not quite managing that very well - but whatever it is - we can only start some days slowly and this is one for me

Okay - that will happen - I hope all of you are feeling okay - we have a sunny day in Melbourne today - and a shower would be a good thing and take a walk around the block - I m feeling better since I started writing -

Look after youselves everyone - and be your own best friend - things are really different lately

I hope your pain specialist is seeing people for your sake too @Owlunar

So annoying getting woken by noise - takes time to recover from that so hope you are doing much better this afternoon.

Like you I have not been great either for a few days and I think the mental stuff has caught up with me physically (as well as lack of sleep). Sent home this morning from work and have managed to sleep most of the day since. An early night for me hopefully so I can make it tomorrow.

Sending you love and hugs

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @Zoe7

I'm sorry you were sent home from school today - but glad you caught up with some sleep - an early night tonight would be excellent for you and for me too - and the mental stuff is there whether it's on our mind or not - the unconscious mind is a tricky thing - we can train our mind to keep it on the back-burner for different amounts of time and under different circumstances but it's there and - it's normal and it comes out and bites us at times -

I hope you feel better tomorrow after a good nights sleep - I wish you the best for that

I feel shattered today after been woken up so rudely - and although I feel better in most places I have a headache - now my personal joke is that the gardener seems to know when I have a headache and he waits until I have one to come around with his mower and blower and whipper-snipper - and yes - it is nice that he comes and does all of this paid for by the body-corporate and not me. Today though - I feel as if I had the headache thrown in at me.

Yes - he's a nice person - I have no objections to him at all - but today - I am allowed to grouch about it - I have given myself permission to feel crabby and that's enough grizzling

I have prepared my dinner - I think I felt better after a coffee and vegemite sandwich - I do love a vegemite sandwich - I think Aussies like it because many of us were raised on it. I wonder if clipart has anything - I will look and see

The isolation is starting to get to me a bit - I don't mind being alone - I mean - I get along with myself very well - I agree with my own opinions and what I choose to do and when suits me because there are no arguments. I couldn't find a better person to live with. I found different routines to have my days running depending on the day and I have my workers coming in for most shifts - I am leaving the TV off - it's important to know what's happening with COVID-19 which sounds like a military campaign at times but I am tired hearing about the political and financial implications - it's something like a mind-blast and it has gone on long enough for me - the chatter I mean - not the life-saving behaviours and that's enough about that too

We are all feeling this and now we are nearly two months into it I do wish they would stop saying this is for 6 months and say it's for 4 - that is less depressing

Still it's a sunny day here - a bit bright to take my headache outside

And another good thing is that all being well I see the pain specialist on Thursday

Thanks Zoe -

Re: Life can be a Pain

I did have a giggle at your description of you living with yourself @Owlunar I am the same - happy living with me and no-one else - at least we know what we are going to do at any given time (most of the time lol) ...I love the peace and quiet as well - I do enough talking at work and don't want to do that at home so living with just my fur babies suits me fine. Yes I do talk to them but there are no arguments or brain streching conversations so it is ideal 👍

I am the same with the constant updates and news reports - happy to avoid as much as possible too. We get email updates from the department and that is all I need right now - nothing changes there anyway ...we are meant to be at work (if we can) and there will be kids to teach so life is pretty much the same for me as I don't go out and socialise or visit cafes etc. anyway.

I can fully understand your grumpiness with the gardener (not him per se but the noise). Being woken to noise, especially with a headache, is very frustrating and can ruin a day quickly - especially if the headache persists. Pain meds are helping with mine so hoping it goes completely by this evening.

Tobes is still laying behind me on the top of the couch and Cat is outside - so fur babies happy in my world 🐶😺
