Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Thanks @BPDSurvivor

It is great to wake up feeling better - I agree - and it's a lovely day outside today - I have the front door open and I am just sitting inside with the lovely fresh air wafting in and the birds are singing

I was really tired last night - There are often good movies on TV on Friday nights but alas - last night - nothing that I found interesting - I watched a couple of recorded movies - I fell asleep during the second one - I got up and went to bed late - and went back to sleep straight away - and after the cold wind and rain we had last night we have a splendid morning

All the best - I hope your day is the best it can be

Hi @Shaz51 @BPDSurvivor @Maggie @Bunniekins @outlander @BlueBay @Gazza75 @Zoe7 @utopia

I have made an appointment with a psychologist and that's about a month away but I am not in a hurry and also rang the new Pain Specialist and I can't make an appointment yet because they will be sending me a form (12 pages of it) to fill out first - and then I will have to wait for about a month for that appointment too

It's so good that I am not in a hurry - my current permit for my medication lasts until April and I am not going back to the old pain clinic - that is totally out of the question

But I feel uneasy about the change in situation too - still - I would feel worse if I was not making changes - I'm not sitting on the fence but that woman certainly got under my skin and my enjoyment of life was totally impaired for a while - I think the unsettled feeling is normal and will pass.

When I have got my life settled with a new pain specialist I will be writing some letters about what happened - this is something that has been a good stand-by for me all my life - I forget when I started being proactive about my life and things that made me feel uneasy - I find these a good memories to help me deal with my changes in circumstances

My favourite would be going out to demonstrate many years ago now - on icy winter nights - getting involved with something I felt very strongly about - I didn't let it get to me - I was writing letters to newspapers and one was published

I could never just let a negative event take my positive attitude away - I don't let people get away with bad behaviour. Things can happen to put us in a bad place but there is no need to stay there - so I have plans to improve things and not just for myself

But I do feel edgy - anxious I guess - but I have started to take action in making appointments

Thanks for being there everyone - your support is well accepted and appreciated

You are taking action by making appoitnments @Owlunar and despite most being some time away you are still doing it - so that is a positive. Sorry I am not much help at the moment but reading and listening

Your support has been amazing

I am filling out the questionnaire sent to me from the new Pain Specialist. There are pages and pages of it but after reading it a few times I have most of it under control and my GP will help me with some of it and the pain specialist will have records of the treatment he gave me in the past so that is nearly done - it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

I have done these questionnaires before - there was always a lot of repetition - I had the feeling there were trick questions but this time there is none of that - and they tell us in the form that these are no trick quesions trying to prove that the pain is in our head but rather to determine how much the pain is impeding our enjoyment of life

My enjoyment of life has been eroded by the last specialist I say about this but I have pulled mysel together - not an easy task - and got over it and as much as possible I am getting on with my life. The changeable weather in Melbourne has made my back pain much worse and of course - I know it is since I had the MRI a couple of weeks ago so I know that the pain is not totally from stress but from deterioriation of my spinal condition.

Just having a physical reason for the pain makes it easier to put up with - and I am sure you people will understand that one. Yes!!! But it was horrible learning that it is worse than it was 4.5 years ago

So I haven't been in the forum much - too busy sorting my own head out - I get it - how things can really make it harder to get sorted and get on with the day at times - and it has turned cold today and I feel like walking waste deep through purple jelly at times

But I care for all of you and I have been reading my phone when I have been away from home so I know some of the stories - I actually feel I am a very fortunate person and I have a positive attitiude - how I wish I could explain how I have that but I really don't know

But thanks again for your support - old owls need it too
