Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Hey @BlueBay yes Darwin will still be hot during the day in May, and compared to down south the nights will feel warm too, tho' a little cooler than other times of year to the locals.

Hi Peeps

I am just about to dash out again so this is a quick post

I had an MRI today and I need to make an appointment to see a different psychologist to prove I am stable - and I know I am so this shouldn't be a big deal - I have a plan with Medicare -

Also I am seeing my dentist to get a clip on my upper partial - that's Wednesday - I have to go to the dentist first thing for impressions then leave my upper there for the day and return late afternoon to pick them up - I do not like not having my upper partial in so I will not be seeing anyone all day - just not happening

I need a hair cut too - sheesh - everything is happening at once

So I am seeing my doctor this afternoon - back later

Hi @Owlunar

Who do you have to prove you are stable to? Sorry a bit confused by this.

I can certainly imagine you not wanting to see people without your upper partial and hope that is done quickly for you.

Hope everything went okay with your doctor.

Hi @Zoe7

I really thought - way back in history - that leaving my teeth at the dentist and having them filled to be picked up later in the day could work

And now that can happen except the actuality is different - I have to leave them there to have them relined or to get a clip this time - aw - it's not my idea of a good look to not have my upper partial in place but they will be firmer with a new clip

About needing to prove I am stable - long story - I have decided to get another opinion about my back pain as the pain specialist at the clinic I used to attend is convinced that I am still in a bad place about my son and - egad - this makes my pain worse. I can't work that out because my spinal pain started many years after my son died.

So I am seeing a new therapist to talk to - hopefully to understand that thinking and to prove I am stable as I said. The pain clinic was supposed to organise a therapist but that fell through unfortunately. All of that is just huge pity because I was well-treated for many years

I'm not knocking anyone there - just misfortunate series of events. The private system is expensive but I think it will be better for me

Thanks Zoe

That makes more sense now @Owlunar Thanks for explaining

A second opinion is probably a good idea then - not everything is trauma related - sometimes pain is just pain ...and sometimes we need help to get through that pain and no 'talking' about other issues will resolve that.

It will also be good for you to have your teeth fixed and that will make them firmer. You'll feel like a new woman

Hi @Zoe7 @eth @Maggie @BlueBay @Shaz51 @outlander @Former-Member @Gazza75 @Former-Member @BPDSurvivor @Bunniekins @utopia @MDT @TAB @Adge

Hi everyone

I got the results of my MRI this afternoon - and - oh dear - the damage in my spine is progressing. The MRI doctor suggested I be referred to a neuro-surgeon which I don't think is necessary because I do not want surgery - instead I will be going along to the new pain specialist earlier than I thought for pain management. It seems more sensible me as this condition can really only be managed and not cured

It's a shock though - finding things are getting worse - I hadn't thought much about it in reality - this weekend I will be but I am pretty sure I will continue with pain management

Another thing - it feels really bad that I saw my previous pain specialist who didn't want to talk about the pain - just alter my medication - in fact - the whole scenario was ambiguous. It seems the increasingly painful situation was supposed to get better without any examination -

I knew the pain was getting worse - I was blaming the cold weather because everything did feel better in the tropics and it has been uncomfortable since I got home -

The edges of anxiety have been knicking away at my mind - I took a tablet for this - one I normally take for muscle spasms - it's for both - and I do feel a bit better than I did when I got home

I do not feel settled - like everyone else I do not like uncertainty - this was a hard hit though -

It's so good all of you know how wonky we can feel at times - anxiety does stop my appetite but I will have something small and see if I feel like eating the meal I prepare

Not happy Jan

Hey @Owlunar
I am sorry to hear this. I do hope you get the treatment and help you need for your back.

I completely agree re anxiety. I am anxious about my health generally but it can accumulate when we need to treat conditions on top of our usual MH related anxiety.

You are in my thoughts my friend. Thanks for updating.
If you have something small to eat then that is better than nothing I think.

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Owlunar Not good news at all. I’m so sorry your spine is getting worse, and the pain.

Anxiety does hit hard, affecting everything.

I hope you can manage something small to eat tonight. Sending kind thoughts . 💕💜💕
