Life can be a Pain

Life can be a Pain

Hi @BlueBay@Zoe7@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@utopia@oceangirl@TAB@Shaz51@PeppiPatty

I know there are more people I could tag but maybe I will think them up as I go along - actually I already have

I think I need my own thread - mostly my problem is chronic pain syndrome - I damaged my spine with the sporting excesses of my youth - a long time ago now - and I managed to rearrange it when I fell of my pushbike in a wind storm nearly 22 years ago and that seems a long time ago now but there is nothing they can do except treat the pain - and I do have Section 8 medication and I see a pain specialist

And the pain has been worse lately and wears me down and I get fed up and very tired -

I have issues with my mother as well - and although she died 2 years ago I still have bad times now and again - she was abusive and as well as I know myself and her this can get to me at times - and this is another reason I opened my own thread

Then there is TS - my Toxic Sister - she was under my skin for a while but not at the moment

So yesterday I felt so bad when I went to see the doctor about my back pain - and my pain specialist has cut my medication back several times over the last few years and she has gone too far - and I started to tell my doctor - yes - I cope with the pain better since my mother died - but it's driving me crackers atm and so are the memories of my mother

So that's it for now - I have had trouble opening this thread for some reason but now I have - I will run my own story - I would like to think I don't need to but yes - I do

You are all such wonderful supportive people - you are my soft place to land - that is so true

And anyone I have missed I will tag as I go along

Lots of hugs everyone

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi @utopia

Yes - it was wonderful to have the pain relief so quickly yesterday - I have lived with back pain for so long - getting on for 25 years - I had no idea or even thought about this far ahead in my life - I can't imagine how it would have seemed back in the days when I was having tests to find out what the problem was and then learning there was nothing that could be done except to manage the pain -

So I know there was a time when all of this was unmanagable - I do much better now but yesterday - okay the good news is that I have managed to keep my dignity even though 2 pain specialists and 2 GPs have recently given me so much contradictory information - the only person I really trust about it now is my GP - he sees me twice a week and has a pretty good idea that things flucuate a lot and he doesn't ask awkward questions and then not listen to my reply -

It is possible to hurt oneself in bed - amazing that - I have fallen off my bed a couple of times lately so I get it - I need a new bed actually - it does feel unnecessary to sleep in the middle of a queen bed but sliding off it because the sides are losing their springs isn't good - and it can feel as if I am climbing up-hill getting into the middle of the bed

But replacing it isn't high on my agenda - enough said

About your arm - that's not good to hear - is the pain high in the arm or in your shoulder? I ask because the tendons in the shoulder can be easy to tear and the pain can be really severe

I hope it does improved today and tomorrow - I will be thinking about that - it's hard to do certain tasks around your home when your arms hurt

All the best - and yes - I am looking forward to my class today - it's cooler but I think still humid - we had enough rain last night to replenish my birdbath and I think the birds have started using it - I haven't seen them but heard them

And there are a pair of blackbirds who get really cross when the bread I put out for them is all gone - they sit on the table and squawk at me - well - I rather like this

I miss my old cat a lot - but it seems she hasn't gone far - I dream about her often and this is comforting. Also - she isn't suffering any more

So pleased your GP has given you pain meds and your pain has lessened enough for you to do some things @Owlunar I am interested to see how your class went today - what was talked about and did you enjoy it?

@utopia Hope your arm progressively improves Hon - glad I am not sleeping next to you if you did it in your sleep lol

@Zoe7 . I'm not aggressive in my sleep as such. But when I have nightmares, I tend to get injured. Wake up with bruises.

The rest of the time I'm sure I look like an Angel sleeping. Well an Angel who snores and drools. Lol.

Re: Life can be a Pain

hahaha @utopia I am much the same with the snoring and drooling angel in my sleep lol

Toby begins on the bed and more often than not ends up on his bed on the floor - maybe that is his way of getting away from me when I am sleeping - poor little mite needs his space 🐶 Cat does sometimes sleep with me though so I can't be too bad 😺

Hi @Shaz51 @outlander @Zoe7 @utopia @Appleblossom @Sophia1 @BlueBay @Razzle

After all the heat and humidity we have heavy rain here today - and it seems to be much cooler and this is a relief -

And summer seems to have gone really quickly - less than 3 weeks to go and it's over

So I went to my Philosophy Class on Thursday - I liked it but it didn't start well - there were two men there who knew each because they did the course last year and they were sitting beside each other and talked to each other - not including several women and I wouldn't tolerate this - they could talk to each other somewhere else and I started butting in - you know the kind of people who take a long time to say little -

Anyway - after a couple of times when I contradicted them with my own point of view other women started to do that too - and it went well - the women seemed to have more to say in less time - I felt pretty good about it after the class and it was that or walk out and I wasn't going to walk out

And yes - it was good that my doctor gave me the strong medicaion for my pain @utopia - and again yesterday and back to normal next week and I start the reducing titration again the following week. It's not going to be easy but at least I am trying this

And other opinions do tend to contradict each other - I have had enough other opinions atm and my own GP has a good understanding and is reassuring - so it all worked out okay - I am so glad about that

I have maintained my dignity in different places lately - I am feeling much better than I did for quite a while - it was uphill - uncertain - and really hot and humid at times - I felt exhausted and sometimes unhappy - but for today it seems okay and it's cooler

Thanks everyone for your help - and encouragement

Ha ha @Owlunar

I can see you butting in and widening the conversation to include others.

I have never started off contradicting others' opinions, but am trying to think that way more, not to always bend over backward to be kind or diplomatic, and be more edgy.

Glad your pain is managed better.
