Life challenges

Life challenges

So I wanted to share a bit about myself and what I'm facing in life.

I've had health issues throughout my life things like arthritis, scoliosis, heart problems etc. Things that have mostly been able to be treated with medications. But last year I was diagnosed with cancer and it's been a hell of a fight ever since. I've undergone several surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and things were looking ok. But recently I was told that the cancer had spread and I'm probably not going to make it to see my 50th birthday which for me is less than 3 years away.

I haven't got any support around me and this information has been hard for me to process. Whilst I knew my life was on borrowed time it never really sunk in until I was sat down and told the facts.

As you can imagine with everything I've gone through during my life I suffer from mental health issues and recently that's become alot worse. For me I don't want to get to that point where my body is shutting down.

I don't like not being in control but at the moment everything is out of my control, I'm reliant on medical teams, medications, other people trying to work out what the next step is. I'm unsure whether I want to put my body through more chemo or radiation therapy or whether to just let this ride its course. Even doing it it's only going to buy me a little bit more time so is it really worth it or do I just try to enjoy what time I have left.

Anyway that's a bit of my story and what I'm facing. Thanks for reading.

Re: Life challenges

@Till23 wow you have done so many amazing things for charities, well done 💙.

Photography is something I've always admired but I'm no photographer myself.

I used to play wordle but never put it on my new phone when I got it.

Re: Life challenges

Hi @Former-Member . The staff here have been caring and understanding. I hope I get some relief soon, even to be able to get up and sit in a chair would be a huge achievement for me at the moment.

It was confronting to be asked those questions but I'm thankful it's over and done with now.

I have been used to being alone most of my life but when going through things like this, a little bit of support is needed. I'm thankful that I have connected here and stuck with it despite thinking about closing my account early on. But going through things was hard enough and then things took a bad turn, this support from people here means alot to me.

Thank you for your kind words 💙

Actually @Hopeandlove , the newer phones' cameras are pretty good nowadays. Can't really complain @Hopeandlove . What about just looking at pics of nature? Do you enjoy that?

You know what? It's such a privilege to be able to sit at your bedside and journey with you. I hear it is hard, but fingers crossed that things improve soon.

Re: Life challenges

@tyme I enjoy looking at nature pictures but it's not the same as being out there.

Thank you for being here to support me and for chatting to me. You don't know how much it means to me. 💙

Re: Life challenges

You know what @Hopeandlove ? As much as connecting with each other means to you, it is also meaningful for us - honestly. I feel this type of connection helps all of us, and I'm so glad you did not close your account earlier...

Re: Life challenges

I agree @tyme . I feel like we are all helping each other @Hopeandlove.

I feel it’s a deep honour for people to open up and share the hardest moments of their lives with me (or others).

I’m really glad you did not close your account when things felt hard for you. This is resilience when you could have shut down, but you kept communicating, kept engaging with others and you say that has helped you.

Re: Life challenges

@Till23 I don't feel I have much to offer others in the way of help at the moment.

It wasn't easy for me to open up but after speaking to @tyme and their encouragement I got that bit of confidence to share some of my story. I'm thankful that I did, I had no idea how quickly things were going to go downhill. Just knowing that you and @tyme @Former-Member @MJG017 are here to support me means more than words can explain. Thank you to you all 💙

Hi @Hopeandlove @tyme

It’s truly heartwarming to hear that you’ve found such caring support, both from the staf and the people here. Learning to lean on others isn’t always easy, I know I struggle with it too.

I’m really glad youre staying connected to the Forums. U deserve kindness and support, and I hope you find some relief soon.

Tyme is right, it’s a privilege to be by your side on this journey.

Wishing you a restful night and sweet dreams.

Snuggles! 🥰

I hope you have a good night too 💙

Re: Life challenges

@Hopeandlove you don’t need to “do” anything. Just being you is enough. Chatting is a two way street we are all getting something out of it, otherwise we wouldn’t keep chatting.

Saying that everyone needs a break, so just because you don’t get an immediate response has no particular meaning.

Hope you have a good restful night tonight.
