The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

Welcome to The Sane Cattery, the totally rational, completely normal place where we - totally sane humans - gather to admire our feline overlords. This is a judgment-free zone (unless your cat is the one doing the judging, which, let’s be honest, they always are). Feel free to share photos of your majestic moggies, chaotic kitties, and everything in between. Whether they’re plotting world domination, defying the laws of physics, or simply loafing like sentient bread, we want to see them. Because nothing says "sane" like dedicating an entire discussion to our tiny, furry dictators.

Allow me to begin...

Here is our oldest, Roughy who is 9.

Ryker, who is 7. Trying to convince himself he still fits in this thing like a glove!

And the latest edition, Luna (14 weeks)

...and another one of Luna, 'cause she's so damn cute.

I have been instructed to say that she was in no way stuck, and was just testing my responsiveness.

I like the sound of Loki @ENKELI . I remember him as a mischief-maker in Norse mythology.

@Mustang67 if Snowball has a white (pink) nose maybe look out for skin cancer. Years ago a vet told me to use zinc cream on my white cat's ears but he was an outside cat and they ended up a dirty grey. Perhaps the same vet who told me it was a habit of white cats to get grease spots from sitting under cars (he did).

@Dimity I am not sure what is going on with her nose. I thought she must have been in a fight, but it doesn't really look like a scratch. Maybe she scrapped it on something. Not sure. What do you think it looks like?

@moderator it's been an hour and a half. Has the photo been blocked?

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

@Dimity yes, I was trying to find a name suitable for him as he had been called Scooby Doo by his previous owners and that was not a name suited to him! We have Nordic heritage so my brother suggested trying a Norse god and as he settled in he started displaying some very Loki like traits. He would bring home bones the same size as him from some neighbour, I'd find them on the patio just outside the door. One day he brought home a slice of pizza, a piece of bread, he was incorrigible!

He refused to be kept inside and tore up the carpet near the front and back doors.

I had a flyscreen door on the back sliding door and he tried to jump through it. I'd just finished sewing it back up as he'd torn it open and he tried to jump through. His head hit the mesh and he dropped to the ground. It didn't stop him. He kept going until he'd torn the mesh open again. After that I gave up and change the flyscreen door to one he could get out of. He also taught my Ragdoll Dinah how to jump over the door to get out as well. Little bugger!

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

He sounds a feisty one @ENKELI .

Tiger vocalises loud and long. It's getting worse with his dementia. I'm trying to wake up if he calls during the night to make sure he finds the litter tray. He's on arthritis and pain block injections which aren't cheap.

I had another cat that got to 21. With Tiger quality of life issues might overtake him, sad to say. He's done well with only 3 legs.

@Mustang67 re the photo I dunno. If she's had it a while and it's not healing I'd be concerned.

@Dimity It is only recent, as I didn't notice it when I fed her a few days ago.

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

@Mustang67 yes, that picture is exactly what I expected of Loki, only in pure black.
