Why can’t I pretend the pain isn’t real, maybe if I tell myself I’m okay and I don’t struggle with mental health I’ll be okay. Maybe if I tell myself that the traumatic memories aren’t real, then I can finally feel whole and less gross. Maybe I’ll just wake up from this dream soon and I’ll find peace within my mind when I do wake up. Maybe I’m okay, maybe there isn’t anything wrong with me
Is there anything that usually helps when you're getting stuck in this rumination space @creative_writer?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
@Ru-bee self care can help, like relaxation and distraction. The only thing is I’m finding it hard to relax or distract myself because I’m super heightened. I guess all we can do is try. I have also taken PRN, but it hasn’t settled me completely.
I know the body flashbacks eventually go away, but it’s so hard to sit with it. It’s hard not to feel disgusted over something that wasn’t my fault

I can only imagine how difficult that would be @creative_writer, but it's good to have that knowledge that they won't last.
I'm heading off shortly, but I hope that you feel a bit more able to try some self-care or distraction methods soon and I'll catch up with you later

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
@Ru-bee I hope you have a wonderful evening.
It is very hard even while knowing it won’t last. We can only do what we can, I’m just not in a good place today 😢. I think it’s a bipolar-ptsd flare up

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
@tyme I’ve been agitated and cranky all day. These body flashbacks tonight aren’t helping with my current mood.
My mind is going places, but I’m safe for now

Does getting up, being around people work @creative_writer ? I mean, does it help?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
@tyme it may partially distract me. It’s probably not realistic to aim for 100% distraction right now considering where I’m at.
On the downside I start masking around people. So I guess it can help, but not helpful in other ways. My family is around right now. It would be helpful if there was someone here with me that I could talk to. Nobody knows I have had SI tonight and been having SA body flashbacks. I guess we have to make the most of what we have

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
That sounds incredibly hard to sit with.
I hope you find ways to work through it. I can only imagine how tough having those thoughts can be.
Does doing something with your hands help? Something sensory? @creative_writer
