Something’s not right

Don’t want to accept the pain

Don’t want to accept the pain

Why can’t I pretend the pain isn’t real, maybe if I tell myself I’m okay and I don’t struggle with mental health I’ll be okay. Maybe if I tell myself that the traumatic memories aren’t real, then I can finally feel whole and less gross. Maybe I’ll just wake up from this dream soon and I’ll find peace within my mind when I do wake up. Maybe I’m okay, maybe there isn’t anything wrong with me

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Former-Member I’ve expressed myself through poetry and even drawing. I found it so much more helpful than journaling. It’s one of the reasons why I looked for an art therapist. I feel like I get a bit of Alexithymia when very heightened, so I freeze.

What kind of other arts and crafts are you into?

@Former-Member you sound very creative. I’m not really good at art, but I do find it enjoyable. I would probably say I’m more of a writer, but I’m not even sure if I can say I’m talented

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer I'm not great at it. But it's just something that keeps me busy.

You don't have to be good at something to enjoy doing it 😊

@Former-Member art does keep you occupied. It is true you don’t have to be good at it to enjoy it.

I have a lot of free time right now, since I don’t have a job yet. I feel like I need to figure out a routine so my ASD brain can be happy. Do you work or volunteer?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

Oh nooo @Former-Member haha ummm is there an uber eats but for craft supplies? 🤣

I sometimes enjoy making art out of random junk I find around, like arranging my collection of seashells into a mandala or ripping up old clothes and seeing if I can make something new out of em!

@creative_writer have you had any contact yet, like intro phone call or anything?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer I'm unable to work or volunteer. Routine is definitely helpful to manage ASD brain.

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx haha I've never even used uber eats let alone know if they would do anything like that 😂.

I'm not that creative, I stick to kits that I can buy etc. I watch random videos and think yeah I could do that, but nope I can't 😂.

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx I’ve been sent intake stuff to do. I also need to get a referral, my GP had a cancellation so I’m seeing him on Monday. He gets so booked out. Using random stuff makes good art. I haven’t tried making art from old clothing. Old clothing often ends up being used for cleaning 😂

@Former-Member volunteering and work can take a lot from you when you have a lot going on. I hope things do get better for you💗. You mentioned you knit, have you ever made anything?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer I'm just physically unable to work, been that way for over 18 years now. I knitted a caterpillar in year 3, but since then I only really knit squares or random shapes.
