Hi @rav3n today ive submitted an application for another student accomodation I’m gonna be moving into on June.
Initially, the one that’s in the CBD ($419 p/w one) was my first choice, however I was told by my accomodation agent that the security deposit is around $2.5k for that, and I was like oh hell nah.😔
I’ve now learnt that every student accomodations require you to pay the security deposit + a month rent fee before your move in date, so…
I ended up officially applying for the one that’s just 5 mins away from the train station (the one where the myki inspectors are usually I guess, or at least sometimes at :face_with_rolling_eyes::face_with_rolling_eyes:😑😑) since their security deposit fee is more affordable and cheaper. But also because they have a room (only one room) that’s currently available/on vacant starting from mid-June, and I was looking to move out of my current one at least a week before my contract ends on the 6th July. It’s a penthouse type room that costs $372 per week which I guess isn’t too bad…🤷♀️ but hey, at least it’s nowhere higher than that which is a good thing I guess. It’s even good that I now have that room secured after paying so that I won’t need to worry about having to wait for the other rooms, since the rest of them require you to move in on mid-July, which is what I absolutely don’t want.
The fact that you have to pay a security deposit fee + a month of rent beforehand (this goes for every student accomodation) is ridiculous.
I’m gonna miss being in the CBD, and now that’ll mean I’ll have to travel at least for about an hour to my parents house to go and collect food then 😒😔 and then another almost an hour back..
and then I’ll have to find an external gym nearby that I’ll unfortunately have to pay a membership for, as well as a library. 😭 unless if I’m able to use the library inside the nearby University though..🤔
