Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 i just got this strange feeling today that there's something I'm supposed to do to help someone. But making that first step is incredibly scary not knowing how things will go.

@Former-Member

that sounds intriguing. You not sure if you can help then or should help them?

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 more worried about how they may react or if it could ruin a good thing.

Sorry, one of the cats knocked the power cable that goes to my network cabinet so i've been trying to figure out why iy internet was gone.

I take it it's the sort of help that they may want, but may really not want as well??

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 oh i wonder which silly kitty knocked the cable. My internet just randomly likes to drop out but at least the mobile data kicks in.

It's not even a matter of help as such. It's hard to explain without giving too much information out. I guess I'm just waiting for that right moment to maybe reach out. It's a big thing to approach someone about but I know it could make a big impact to them in a good way.

We need to steal the invisibility cloak from Harry Potter @MJG017 @Former-Member I also would often like to be invisible.

You could also secretly sample the chips to make sure they are crispy 😉

@Till23 yes we need that invisibility cloak 😂.

Oh the fun we could have 😂

Re: Life and trauma

Yes @MJG017 I am aware of that model of the brain where you react before you’ve thought about it. This reaction at lower brain levels is very common in people who’ve experienced trauma

Re: Life and trauma

Yes @Former-Member these things are very hard to negotiate for many reasons. You don’t know if offering help will cause them embarrassment, whether they acknowledge there’s a problem, whether they’re ready to change or willing to accept help. I suppose one way is to try and put yourself in their shoes to see what you would feel (although everyone is different). Another way I suppose is to talk around the subject to see if you can gauge what their response will be.

Re: Life and trauma

Thanks for the input @Till23 . It's not something I'm rushing into as there's alot to take into account. My mind isn't made up as there's so much to consider if I even want to put myself into such a position. But I just got this feeling today and it hasn't really left, I just feel like it's something that I'm supposed to do.
