There is a new Aardman Animations movie

»Early Man »

@Oaktree I'm sure I've seen that. Is it from 5 or 6 years ago? It was about some caveman and was definitely Aardman. Maybe i'm thinking of something else.

Re: Life and trauma

@Jynx need a little help over here please. I've tried ice on the back of my neck and breathing, I've tried the 5,4,3,2,1 grounding, I've tried what @MJG017 suggested. I can't think what else to try.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 I'm trying but my head is spinning and pounding and it's just not happening. I'm trying to look at pictures and focus on the colours, trying to name each colour but I just can't maintain the focus.

@Former-Member no emotional state lasts forever. Even if the mental trigger has gone, our bodies still need to work all the stress chemicals out of the system. I find that trying to 'fix' my emotional state really doesn't help, because that in itself becomes the distress for me - do you think that could be part of what's happening?

@Former-Member

It okay if you cant focus right now, don't try to force anything. What about repeating a simple phrase? Or even just humming to yourself. Even try holding something weighty might help to give you a sense of stability.

@Jynx I'm not even sure. I've received a message that's really upset me and i can't even process it. I don't have anyone to talk to and I can't share it here for safety reasons. @MJG017 you partly know this situation already when we went back through and edited messages previously cos I didn't want that information on here.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 I'll try those things. Thanks for the suggestions.

Could you manage a phone call @Former-Member ? Could try the SANE line - great spot to vent/feel heard/get some co-regulation going - 1800 187 263

Re: Life and trauma

@Jynx i couldn't manage that at the moment and I already rang them today so don't want to be a bother.

@Former-Member

It's a really tricky situation. I'm sorry this message was so upsetting. I get that you're feeling overwhelmed and alone not being able to share much about what is going on. I'm here with you so just try your best to relax and know that you dont have to deal with everything or fix everything right now. Just take this time to focus on yourself and keep chatting here if you can.
