FebFast - can we get a group together here?

FebFast - can we get a group together here?

Hello All,

I think we've all heard it before and I'm sure a lot of you stay away from the booze, well I don't and I have been encouraged to stop for a month.

So how about for anyone interested we do a FebFast group here (not registering on the site), just something where we can support eachother. I need to get off the grog and I'm sure together it's more fun.

@NikNik or any other moderator, did you mention that anywhere yet?

It seems all I've given up in February is sleep lol. Trying to see the funny side at the moment!!!

Hoping some light is shining on everyone's day

Hi Zoe7 ansd yes the light has been shining on my day so far. I have a 4 mnths kitten in my care and she is a little ball of energy and fun except when she wants to lie across the computer keyboard!!! Hope you are having a pleasant weekend so far and send hugs and cheers to you and yours. Bimby2

Hi @Bimby2 I have seen you around but we have never really spoken. So lovely to hear there is some light shining on your day. Little kittens are so much fun - they just want to play all the time - when they are not sleeping or eating anyway. I am trying to just take it easy today and recover a bit from the last few days if possible. Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend with the little puddy tat.

Day 13!

The sun is just about to rise. I love this time of the morning.

I nearly broke FebFast yesterday. I just felt so helpless, out of control and terrified and I just wanted to be happy and smile for other people. I already had a plan how to break FebFast and then I got a message from a friend to not do it - and I didn't. I took some extra meds and did activities that take my mind of things. I cooked and then started drawing for hours until it was time for bed, while watching TV with my family.

I am glad I was gently "forced to start FebFast" and I am glad I did not break FebFast because I know how I would feel this morning from drinking and taking meds. I don't feel fabulous - I never do in the morning anymore - but I feel like I normally do, anxious about the day ahead.

I am noticing that my sleep is getting better. That can be a combination of stopping to nap and adhering to my sleep pattern, but I am sure stopping the alcohol has helped too. I am not sure if sugar has any impact on sleep in general.

When I first started thinking about FebFast i thought about kicking all bad habits at once and go on a strict diet, just for 28 days. As soon as the first day came I was completely overwhelmed and decided just to stick to alcohol. Then I cut the sugar - well sweets in general, not fruits or anything like that last week and this week I will cut out fried food. And in the last week just the coffee. I don't really drink too much coffee as it upsets my tummy. I am hoping to make this a lifestyle change and have the things I cut out as a treat - not as a coping mechanism.

Anyway, this is my update nearly 2 weeks through. Hope you all get something out of FebFast too, would be great to hear how you're getting on!

Hi @Former-Member That's a great reflection. So great to read things are going well for you.

Yes, the person who bought me the drink knows what I usually have, but didn't know I was on FebFast, so they thought they were doing something nice.

Still going well.
I usually feel very anxious the morning after having a few drinks, so it's nice to not have had that this month.

We're almost half way!

Congrats Flower for not giving in!

Hi @Former-Member. I was in the supermarket yesterday in the chocolate isle and was about to buy chocolate when I thought of you and chose not to. This febfast I've given up chocolate which I'm feeling good about. I hope you're still going well. 💜🤗

Re: FebFast - can we get a group together here?

hello all

my cousin in england is doing sugar free february in aid of cancer research uk, for her late mum, my aunt, who passed away june last year. she was such a beautiful person, my mum's sister and we felt quite devastated being at the opposite end of the world. a new grandson has arrived for my cousin, a great grandson for her dad and he is a breath of fresh air for us all.

I am jumping on the bandwagon half way through. Better late than never.

I am reducing my intake of caffeine not giving up so that isnt really fasting either is it. I dont have much sugar but there is sugar in chocolate.

I had already given up alcohol nearly 3 years ago. Late afternoon, early evening is when my anxiety seems to rear it's ugly head.

I have reduced my cups of coffee which I absolutely adore. I have also reduced my dark chocolate indulging in the evenings which I also adore. I am a caffeine enthusiast. I think I managed one night with none!

So I am just going to pop in every now and again as I have also reduced my time on the website and computer also.

I am turning into a person who will be devoid of anything indulgent. I am actually feeling some benefits though. My humour is slowly re-emerging, very important.

So well done to all of you who are fasting and forsaking something. It is not as easy as it sounds.

good luck all xxx

Hi everyone,

I hope your febfasting is going well. it's almost over!

For me the biggest thing that I've found challenging is when doing to dinner not having a glass of wine. I only usually have 1-2 glasses.. and I'm not craving it, but it's just more a habit I didn't realise I had!

Hope your journeys are going well.
