Something’s not right

What am I even doing with my life…

What am I even doing with my life…

What the hell am I even doing with my life….

i honestly blame parasocial relationships and for getting myself into this kinda phase with this particular group that I’m currently a huge fan of and have been ‘obsessed’ & down-bad with since 2020. Cause now that their concert is next month which had already made me being desperate to book the concert tickets as well as booking the flight tickets to fly to the country to go see them at their concert (because for some reason their company never allows them to hold any concerts in Australia nor in any of the other Asian countries other than just in Japan and Korea) And I’m doing all this whilst I’m on the DSP with a valid reason as to why I’m unable to work.

I mean, before I moved out of home I’ve always been saving a ton of money on my bank account & im glad I still have that much amount sitting on my bank account. but ever since I’ve moved out, the fact that I now get $1.3K-1.4K per fortnight from Centrelink, having to pay $1000 worth of fortnightly rent as well as having to spend the remaining $300-400 dollars per fortnight on some things, and NOW spending whatever amount I get from that remaining 300-400 dollars I receive per fortnight PLUSspending more dollars from my other bank account that I initially saved a ton of money on (from my past DSP & other Centrelink payments before I moved out) just to afford for this upcoming holiday trip is (hence I’ve booked that holiday trip for a 2 week stay anyways cause I’ve been wanting to go to Korea so bad for the longest time)….yeah idk…

why am I even doing this to myself & I honestly regret getting into the parasocial relationship & down-bad phase back in 2020 that lead me on wanting to go & see them at a concert overseas as well as…what I’ve been doing & spending on as of last week and this week because of it….

i literally was going through the amount of pay in 4 instalments that I’ve just paid a few things in relation to my holiday trip with & considering what I’ve checked and have gone through… it is not looking quite good right now, especially considering how much I don’t even want to deduct more money from my other bank account that I initially saved a lot of money with/on (& that I still have).

Yeah, my mum was right when she told me that I need to save money which I absolutely already know and understand, and like…. IM TRYING!!!

And a majority of the amount I paid for through the pay in 4 instalments and all that has to do with:

  • in relation to this bilingual service based in Korea I’m using for them to guide me & assist me through the bookings in Korea and everything. Apparently the deposit you have to pay to access their service is around $360 something AUD
  • The SIM+Data thing I have to use in Korea
  • The concert tickets (both are around $136 AUD per ticket)
  • Travel insurance
  • Skybus

HELPPP 😭😭

Now that I think about it, idek if it’s really worth seeing them at a concert. Plus, I can imagine how it feels to be in a crowd with so many other fans around you especially when you don’t wish to be associated with them. Umm yeaaaa

what if I run away and hide instead… maybe that’ll be better than not running away and hide.

Re: What am I even doing with my life…

@Blackcloud hahaha i hear ya. have you thought of doing some sort of exchange program? i had an old school friend who completed half her uni in melb and then the other half in Korea. i think some unis/institutions also offer 1-2 months long overseas trips in general (my other friend did a Europe one) but exchange programs would be longer (1 semester long, 1 year long, etc)

Re: What am I even doing with my life…

@rav3n yea i was thinking of doing the exchange thing yea. I just need to search up a bit more about that because it seems that a lot of stuff ive searched up with with regards to studying abroad require you to obtain at least a bachelors degree but i could be wrong on that. since ive seen other requirements too but theres a lot to keep in mind haha

did your friend do or obtained a bachelors degree before she went to korea to do the exchange?

ive never done a bachelors degree and i guarantee thatll take me years time to get to there 😞

Re: What am I even doing with my life…

@Blackcloud oh my friend did the exchange as a part of her bachelors (so she had no previous degrees, she only had finished year 12 VCE). so she started a double degree around 2020 - bachelor of Arts and Science - and around 2021 she went to Korea and then came back to Aus around 2022 to finish the rest of her studies in melb. her uni in melb had connections with Seoul National University which is why she was able to do the exchange program there for a year.

it depends on what uni and course you do - some unis don't have a connection with institutes in Korea/certain countries while others do. and if the uni in Korea doesn't offer the subjects you need to complete your bachelors, then it might not be possible. doing a broad degree like arts, business, global studies, etc are usually better for exchange programs since a lot of unis offer those subjects internationally. you would have to speak to your institution for more info since it defers from place to place.

@rav3n awhh man 😭😂

i feel like a loser in life 🥲 well at least it seems some of the universities in korea do have the subject that I'm currently doing in uni right now. FYI I'm doing Information Technology (I.T).

Re: What am I even doing with my life…

@Blackcloud ohh nooo why do you think that!?

that's great! so if uni/institute that you're studying at has connections with Korean unis, then you can ask your uni about a possible exchange program! if not, you can always transfer to a uni/institute that does the exchange for IT students! there's definitely a couple different options out there.

Re: What am I even doing with my life…

@rav3n @Because I am 🥲 and I also have no purpose in life. I mean nothing to anyone in this world. (And no, this is not a S/H note don’t worry) and I have no future..

yeah, I’ll ask my current uni about it if I can. I’m not sure if any Korean universities accept students that have graduated or are currently doing vocational courses (certificates and/or diplomas) though. Seems that they only accept those that obtain a bachelor’s degree. And I’ve seen in a lot of their requirements that you need to have at least a 2.5 GPA.

Re: What am I even doing with my life…

@Blackcloud oh i'm sorry you feel that way!! but i assure you, your presence and existence has so much more value than you know. just because you haven't found your purpose doesn't mean you don't have one!! and 'purpose' is different for everyone. maybe your purpose is simply to explore and learn, maybe its to help others, maybe is to share your journey through vlogs, etc. you don't have to have it figured out any time soon, but the key to figuring it out is by trying new things and facing the world.

and you mean so much to your family (if your mum is annoyingly overprotecting and too caring, its a sign she loves you heaps) and you mean a lot to us in the forums community too! you're still so young, and have so much time to make more connections but either way - your worth isn't determined by what you are to others. you were always worthy since you stepped foot on Earth, and you will always be worthy.

ahh yep you'll probably need to speak to your institute to be sure! some unis offer general trips overseas as well (these aren't exchange programs, this is just a short trip before or after the study year).

Hi @rav3n thank you, I appreciate your kind words. ❤️

also, I do have a question I’m curious about - but what did your friend do to earn money whilst she was studying abroad? Like did she had to do a part job there or something? Or did she had to apply for some type of scholarship?
