  • I have Osteoporosis which i will need medication as my bone density has decreased because of the kidney disease
  • they believe that the Liver function is up because of the kidney disease

@Jynx

No family members ask how I am going

Only my MIL will will ask when we visit her and she is 91

One cousins told me not to text anymore as he reason I have changed and I am selfish

But @Emelia8 said to me to keep the main family members updated amd involved because it will happen

I do still believe it's good to keep family in the loop @Shaz51 💕

They cannot turn round later then and say "you never told me"!

But I can totally understand your feelings around their apparent disinterest.

I expect they care much more than they show. Perhaps they are underestimating the seriousness of your condition? And also the impact dialysis will have on your life?

It's sad for you, but also for them, that family are not more emotionally supportive than they are.

Hi @Jynx 👋

Re: One Day at a time here

Hi @Emelia8 lovely to see you!

@Shaz51 I wonder as well if they don't want to bring it up because they know how distressing it is, and don't want to 'upset you' by making you think about it. I think sometimes with really heavy stuff, people don't always know what to say, so they don't say anything at all... not realising that sometimes just a 'Sorry it's so hard' and a supportive hug can actually go a long way.

I notice it a lot with bereavement - many people who have lost close loved ones find that their supports may withdraw to give space, even though what they actually need is company.

I agree with @Emelia8 I think, that there's potentially other factors, and if you don't keep them somewhat updated then they may not get the chance to show that they care.

You can also ask for support too, just letting them know that sometimes just a little text here n there or a really tiny gesture of kindness can mean the world.

👍 @Jynx @Emelia8

I think the biggest problem is not knowing when

The doctor say keep doing what you are doing, you are doing ok and that is all we can do until the time comes

So keep on keeping on ❤️

Absolutely @Shaz51 I can only imagine how exhausting it is to live in this uncertainty every day. I could say how much you're an inspiration, but I just wish you didn't have to be 'inspiring' and could just live in peace. The fact that you continue to be radically kind and giving to everyone around you is a testament to the goodness in your soul 💜

Re: One Day at a time here

@Shaz51 thank you for sharing. It does make sense about the toxins since they aren't being filtered out.

Fingers crossed your kidney function continues to stay stable at 17%.

I find it amazing that it was not known that you only had 1 kidney until well into mature adulthood. But it makes total sense, because without a scan or operation - how would one know! And we don't have those until there is something wrong usually. Wow, that must have been such a shock at the time.

I'm just wondering, with all the side effects of the low-functioning kidney, can they do occasional (or less frequent / shorter) dialysis to help alleviate symptoms and stress on the kidney/body?

(Do i recall that it take a long time to "grow"/develop the dialysis-veins/outlet? Sorry my words are failing me for what it is called or how to describe it. I hope you can understand what i am meaning, but totally understand also if you have no clue 🤣)

I hope your dinner with D1 tomorrow night is really good. 😊🥰😍

I'm sorry that your family do not ask or seem to care or want to know about how you are. I would find that very disheartening if i were in your shoes. I hope that as suggested by others that they do care but perhaps dont know how to ask or worry it might be upsetting for you to talk about, or maybe they dont feel able themselves to deal with the emotions it raises in them to hear if you are getting sicker.

If you needed practical help, do you think they would be supportive and help if asked directly? 🤔 (maybe not that brother though that said to stop texting... that didnt sound very kind or caring to me... how did you feel about it?)
