Re: One Day at a time here

thank you for sharing @AlwaysMyself

and sending you lots of tender hugs for your pains

about the kidney disease stage 4 means that the kidney (which I found out I was only born with one kidney) start to not work anymore, it does not work properly any more

as the Kidney level continues to go down it causes other problems in the body to appear

It causes other complications because of the toxins which the kidneys when working goes in the toilet

when you have kidney disease the toxin is released back in the body and this is where you develop Diabetes, heart problems, osteoporosis, thyroid problems etc.

so, you end up with proteinuria, bone problems

Cramps are from having too much potassium to your blood stream, same as restless legs syndrome

so on stage 4 17% where i am my blood tests results are nearly all in the red , this is why they say it is nearly dialysis time

then you go on the transplant list for a kidney and if they find one that is the closest to your own kidneys , they add it in with the other kidney and then you have to take a rejection meds for the rest of your life so the new kidney will stay

I am 61

Hugs 🫂🤗 @Shaz51

So much happening because of the failing kidney. On top of the challenges you were born with.

I'm so glad you're officially retired now and can look after yourself and mr shaz more. I guess you worry about each other.

Overcast here, was wet this morning. I'm not sure if the washing will dry.

Hey mamabear @Shaz51!! How's your Saturday going?

And ty for sharing a bit more about the impacts of your absentee kidney. It's been a long road for you hey! Invitation, if you're feeling up for it - to share with us a little about how it felt to talk about the myriad of ways you're impacted by your failing kidney?

Sending squishy hugs!

Re: One Day at a time here

having a quiet day here @Jynx

even though I have done a few things through the day, got the washing dry

divided the cooked chicken up into meal size and put them in the freezer etc.

having my 3rd coffee here now

it has been a long time, in 2009 (16 years ago)

I got a kidney infection and went to the hospital, and the relieving doctor gave me the wrong meds

went home, I laid down to recover, and I could not wake up, so Mr. Shaz had to take me to the hospital again and found out my kidney level took a nosedive to 10% and I only had one kidney

my doctor was very upset and put me on the path of specialist etc

the first specialist said my kidney level will decrease 2 points every year which my kidney level is stable now at 17% for now (so I show him)

Now I think of giving my families update of my condition after I see the specialist every 3 months, but I get the feeling they are tired of it all as it is going on and on, the same every year

and every time you see a specialist every 3 months, they say yep nearly time for the dialysis then send you home and see you in 3 months again

very annoying, upsetting

your mamabear Shaz51

Re: One Day at a time here

@Shaz51 I can really hear how frustrating it is to know that dialysis is in your future, but have no idea when, no real way to plan or prepare, and also the fact that it's also I guess the big 'sign' that your health is truly in decline. That's so hard hun. And like yeah, would be hard also feeling like the people who are closest are getting sick of hearing about it!

Your kidney is holding on as best it can though by the sounds of it, which I reckon is a testament to the incredible resilience and strength in your soul.

Do your family members tend to ask, or do you notice they seem to like, avoid bringing it up with you nowadays?

More hugs!
