Anyone started with the NDIS?

Anyone started with the NDIS?

Tells my story from initial application (Feb '17) to acceptance by NDIS (July '18) and the process of putting things in place and progress, improvements, managing and difficulties since then. Now Jan '21.

Original post : I've recently moved and will need to get into the NDIS in my new location. Wondering if anyone in the forums has successfully done this? Any advice would be welcome. Feeling swamped by their website.

EDIT : I was finally accepted to the NDIS and am now 3/4 through my 2nd plan. With only a small reduction from the first year. And this plan is for 2 years so I don't have to jump through all the hoops with a review this time next year. To all others on this path I say ........

IT'S REALLY WORTH PERSEVERING!!!

Hoping this thread helps all who come here.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Awww @Sophia1 now I'm crying. You write so beautifully and poignantly thankyou. It has really gotten to the core of me. I spent part of the afternoon just lying on my bed staring into space. Having memories of all sorts of times in my life when I had bipolar episodes of mania or major depression and went undiagnosed, consequently staying out of hospital and under the radar. Most of these periods have not been mentioned in statements/reports for my NDIS claim. The more detail goes into the statements re trauma history and functional effects, the more I remember that's not in there. I really hope I get off this merry-go-round soon. There's apparently nothing else I can do but allow the solicitor to handle things at this stage. I'm not confident about the hearing at all now that I know my psychologist won't be there. And that NDIA will have her clinical notes about all our sessions. @Mazarita @Bunniekins @CheerBear @Appleblossom I feel powerless and demoralised.

I'm grateful for all your support. I am safe.

Dearest Eth..I can't do anything about govt bureaucracy

I can empathise about feeling depleted sharing such deep..private ..raw experiences..

this is why I desperately want you to feel safe...not internalise any of the crap that is not you..out of your control..

take yourself back now at this time of pain to some of your deep spiritual moments..

go to the inner places where you are at peace with self..

you have such spiritual depth @eth I felt it when I first encountered you on the other thread..through the technology gobbledygoo

find that part of yourself..gently care for yourself....be at peace with yourself..

get through a day at a time..use your friends here as support if wanted..

of course be with your brother and his wife..

ground yourself in your beautiful garden..

your life is so precious..you are so precious...

@eth I am so sorry eth. The NDIA are heartless ba rst ards. What can I say. So sorry that you have to do this and trawl up the past. It is so awful. My words dont seem enough except I am sorry.

@Sophia1 and @Bunniekins I'm going to get through it somehow, it's just a rough ride at the moment. I really appreciate your concern and want you to be sure I'm safe. I'm waiting for Friday Feast to start to see if joining in there takes my mind off it all.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

I still have my main supports (carer sil, disability advocate and legal aid solicitor) except my psychologist isn't coming despite being summonsed. But apparently she's written a 3rd report which sticks it to the NDIA. Not sure if I'll get to see it beforehand tho' - only 3 more working days for the solicitor to prep for the hearing. Did find out the OT who assessed me last June is being called. But she can only speak to how I was then, not currently or since (hypomania and major depression have both happened since then). The big unknown for me is that the psychologist had to send ALL her notes directly to the AAT and I probably won't get to see them in advance either.

@Bunniekins @Mazarita @Appleblossom @Sophia1 @CheerBear and not sure who else to tag here. Have lost track of who's been following this thread.

Down to the pointy end now. This time next week I'll know whether I've been accepted or not.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Psychologist had a prior comitment that's obviously serious enough to get excused from appearing . I still feel very disappointed. She had wanted to redact intimate details of traumatic events from the notes she had to provide but wasn't allowed to do so. So I'm going to get dragged over all the old coals.

I'm going over emails I've saved re pre-planning etc re NDIS . I've collected so much info about the next tasks if I do get accepted. Even if I do I can forsee a lot of challenges in getting to know and manage plan, funds, service agreements etc.
