Anyone started with the NDIS?

Anyone started with the NDIS?

Tells my story from initial application (Feb '17) to acceptance by NDIS (July '18) and the process of putting things in place and progress, improvements, managing and difficulties since then. Now Jan '21.

Original post : I've recently moved and will need to get into the NDIS in my new location. Wondering if anyone in the forums has successfully done this? Any advice would be welcome. Feeling swamped by their website.

EDIT : I was finally accepted to the NDIS and am now 3/4 through my 2nd plan. With only a small reduction from the first year. And this plan is for 2 years so I don't have to jump through all the hoops with a review this time next year. To all others on this path I say ........

IT'S REALLY WORTH PERSEVERING!!!

Hoping this thread helps all who come here.

@eth Oh sweetheart ... it is effectively a government department which needs to have the bleakest outcome shoved in their faces before anything is done. I am sure that is why your brother painted such a bleak picture should the appeal fail. Try not to worry and just focus on the good things that are happening in your day however small and remember how much your brother and sil love you and are fighting with your for your future.

Impossible not to be pre-occupied by it at the moment @Bunniekins but thanks for your kind words. We have a deadline in 2 days so we're all trying to finalise our statements.

@eth I will have all my fingers and toes crossed for you and your family. You are a real trailblazer with this. There is going to be a 60 mins story on the failings of NDIS (I think it is this coming week). It is truly a mess .... not surprisingly people are considering taking drastic action.

Fingers Crossed @eth

He might be saying it to intensify your argument, but it would be very hard to see that in print.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Slept on and off for 10 hours last night. The emotional roller coaster triggered by doing the AAT statement and seeing those of bro and sil is bombing me out at times. And leaving me with little or no capacity for anything else. It's hard to explain this to them. I just feel like retreating more, putting it all in the too hard basket but a) today is the deadline to have the statements to the solicitor and b) retreating more won't get me anywhere.

I know that the others' statements are written with the goal of getting me as much support as possible, but they really define my functional effects of bipolar 1, cPTSD, anxiety and depression in great detail and also the problems my needs cause for them. With drafts going back and forth between us and the solicitor (on my side) I've had to read these documents and edit them most days in the last week.

And in the middle of all this bro has expressed his deep frustration and desire for me to make more progress on my goals.

No pressure, hey.

Good morning @Mazarita @Bunniekins @NameUnknown @catgirl @Appleblossom @Phoenix_Rising @outlander @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member and anyone else who reads this and my previous post of this morning ---I really hope none of you get to this stage of AAT appeal (external body from NDIS that can over-ride the NDIS decision).

And I really hope that in between my woes there is useful information about the process of applying.

The statements also go into great detail about my history and reading that over and over has also triggered memories of events that aren't mentioned (it can't get too long and is already over 10 pages). Memories of different manic periods in particular and the crazy things I did when having delusions. And I know that all that's in the statements and all I've remembered lately is likely to be just the tip of the iceberg.
